Questing System - Chapter 25:Premonition
The family ate dinner in an extremely jovial mood as everybody talked about the changes that were to happen around the family and around the house. Icarus was happier than everybody else and his parents were twice as happy seeing the fact that Icarus was already showing signs of being a great brother. Time passed in a flash and soon Icarus found himself sitting on his bed in the attic, staring out the window at the full moon. He clenched his fist as he thought about his unborn brother Iapyx, ‘I will not let you down this time.’ His first thought was naturally to get stronger in order to protect his brother since his father was just a farmer and his uncles were simple farmhands. Following this thought, he opened up his status;

His eyes shifted towards the Skills section. Towards one skill in particular;
Sense (Beginner)
He had had very little progress in terms of this skill. Yet it was the one that bore him the most fruits. When he levelled up the Sense skill from Initiated to Beginner, his whole worldview changed. He was able to sense everything within a 10-meter radius. It was literally everything, even the wing beat of a fly was known to him as soon as it was made. The whole prospect was illogical but this world was that of magic, so he just left it at that. He couldn’t imagine the kind of awareness he would gain from levelling it up to Master. Not waiting anymore, he invested the required 4 skill points into the skill all at once.
It was like an atom bomb had gone off inside his head, messing everything up and blowing out all the thoughts inside his mind. Going completely blank, it took him two full minutes to recover from the shock. As he did, he felt a strange sense enveloping his mind. It was as if he could there was an invisible switch inside his mind that he could turn on and off at any given moment with just a thought. This was on top of the fact that he could sense everything within a 20-meter radius, almost twice as large as before. He knew something big would happen the moment he flipped the switched inside his head, but in the end, curiosity got the better of him. Once he had decided, there was no more hesitation present.
Boom!
Another explosion went off inside his mind, albeit being completely different in nature. The explosion before had caused his mind to completely empty, this time, his mind was completely filled with information. As he looked around, he spotted that there were translucent red strings everywhere he looked. They attached objects to each other as well as to other things. Some even out the window, through the glass. He knew what they were, almost instinctively. They were strings that displayed fate and karma, two extremely mysterious things that he couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
At the same time, an invisible wave spread throughout the land as soon as Icarus flipped the ‘switch’ inside his mind. His parents who were on the other side of the house shot up from their places. ‘Damn it! I didn’t think that he could even use that ability on metaphysical skills.’ He stared at Sana, who was staring back at him with an equally baffled expression. A helpless smile crossed his face as he began the tiresome task of explaining Icarus’ strange bloodline ability to her. At the same time, off into the distance, in one corner of the Dragonite Farm, there was a dark cave. The darkness inside this cave seemed to pulsate and seethe as if almost alive. No animal sounds could be found nearby, even the predators which usually hunt in the farmlands at this point in time, chose to stay away from this cave. The darkness suddenly shuddered as the invisible wave passed through it. The charming voice of a man echoed through the clearing, ‘Goddamnit, looks like I’m going to have to accelerate my plans.’
Back in the house, Icarus felt a tug on his mind. He was jolted by this feeling, it was extremely strong. It was as if…something was calling out to him. Something was telling him to run to it as fast as he could. It was as if, he was going to die if he didn’t. That feeling only lasted for a brief moment before Icarus instantly flipped off the ‘switch’. He found his back drenched in cold sweat as he nervously stared out the window. ‘What the hell was that?!’ He could still feel it, albeit extremely faintly. This scared him, as he thought about what exactly was calling to him. His mind kept thinking of the worst until he couldn’t bear the tiredness and sleep overwhelmed his fear. Although his body had developed beyond his age, to the point where he looked five years older than he actually was, he was still a child. His soul belonged to an adult, yet his child body could only handle so much stress. Sleep was extremely important for a growing child, there was no way he was going to be able to stay awake, even if he was in mortal danger.
The night passed in tranquillity on the surface, yet there were obvious undercurrents brewing on the Dragonite Farm. Icarus didn’t know that by simply mastering Sense, he was able to alert an existence he should have never come in contact with. In a dimension that was completely isolated from the rest of the universe, a black-haired youth with golden eyes was staring at the sky filled with stars. ‘Finally, I found the one I have been looking for all this time.’ He raised his hand, emitting thin strands of light as he wiggled his fingers in a seemingly random manner. If one was to follow these strands, they found them going through the very fabric of the space.
