Questing System - Chapter 28:A Boaring Hunt
The atmosphere of the party was quite despondent after that but it improved in almost no time. The rest of the hunt was actually really boring, contrary to his expectations. He spent most of the journey there talking to Frank and found out quite a lot about the world he lived in. ‘This planet was known as Highenhiem’ this first sentence caused Icarus’ eyes to bulge. This was a medieval planet, they use swords to fight, how the hell did they know about planets?! That was when he remembered that even in medieval in his previous world, people knew about planets, excepts they were known as “Heavenly Spheres”. ‘Maybe they call planets their proper names here.’ He decided to chalk it up to mere coincidence and move on. This planet of Highenheim had seven continents; Muspelheim, Asafoetida, Thrinacia, Vanaheim, Niflheim, Jotunheim and Honba. Their continent of residence being Thrinacia, was actual an imperial rule. Out of the seven continents, in fact, three of them had empires. The other two were Muspelheim and Jotunheim. He was also extremely surprised to find out that almost all the farmhands had come from Muspelheim. ‘There was terrible monster invasion causing a lot of refugees to flood into other continents. We were some few of them. The Lord was gracious enough to take us in at such a time of trouble.’ Frank had tears as he seemed to reminisce about those times.
Once again, the gloomy mood was only short lived. Conversing further, Icarus confirmed another suspicion of his; there were monsters in this world. Not only were there monsters, but there were also dungeons! This confirmation excited him beyond compare, as this was the kind of world he had always wanted to reincarnate to. ‘Looks like two of my wishes were granted.’ Thinking jovially, he continued to chat with Frank until they got to the actual Metacarpal P area. Still, there was nothing exciting to do other than Hick instructing him on “tracking” from time to time. That too became pretty boring when he realized that he could practically master it due to his bloodline ability. Synchronize (I) allowed him to harmonize with his environment, essentially giving him the ability to visualize the silhouette of whatever thing that came through. This allowed to accurately pinpoint the direction, shape and even the weight of the creature leaving the tracks. Hick was naturally flabbergasted at his ability to pick up tracking so easily and masterfully. After repeated praising him as a genius in the area of tracking, Hick let Icarus go back to talking with Frank as Icarus had already mastered what he had planned to teach.
They chatted some more and eventually he was able to glean some information about the reason behind their fear of the Distal areas; it had to do with the legend of the Dragonite farm. He was about to try to dig deeper when Caylus raised his hand and waved it, signalling them all to go completely become silent. Then he dismounted from the horse and everybody followed after him, making not even a sound. The tracks had already told Icarus that the so-called Titanoboar was only a few hundred meters from then now. They followed Caylus until the trees cleared and a gigantic trench came into view, causing a gasp to escape from Icarus’ mouth. The trench was at least five meters wide, sometimes even wider, stretching along the tree line and into a clearing, where a massive purple boulder was lying. He was confused about the boulder until he realized that the boulder was actually increasing and decreasing in size rhythmically. That’s when he realized that the massive boulder was actually their target.
He was completely overwhelmed as his lower jaw nearly hit the ground. In fact, he forgot to breathe for a little while as he tried to imagine how exactly he was supposed to kill such a massive beast. ‘It was impossible! Impractical!’ as he was panicking trying to find something to beat such a massive beast, he realized something odd. His Sense skill wasn’t tingling. It was a weird way to put it but he clearly remembered that one of the things he learned when Icarus levelled the skill up to master. This skill was supposed to let him whenever he was in danger and predict the future up to an extent. At the same time, he could use it to get a measure of the danger level of the opponent, relative to himself of course. At times when he would be in danger, his Sense would ‘tingle’. Yet, staring at the Titanoboar, his Sense wasn’t reacting in the slightest. This could only mean one thing, which was confirmed by the sound of a ringing echoing inside his head.
Special Quest: A Boaring Hunt
Hunt and kill the Titanoboar

Sighing with relief, he concentrated again and followed the rest of the team as they began circling the beast. Soon, the big monster’s head came into view. It had pig snout with two massive six feet tall horns coming out of its mouth. They halted just in front of the creature as they stared at the head. Then, everybody started moving back, until they were completely under the cover of the trees. ‘Young Lord,’ Caylus beckoned Icarus over, without moving his eyes from the creature. ‘When I give you the signal, please target its snout. Run circles around it whilst doing so as the boar has problems being agile due to its sheer size.’ He nodded and drew an arrow out of the quiver, loading it into his arrow and pulling it full circle. Caylus nodded towards others as they arranged themselves into a formation. Holding their breath, Caylus dropped his hand.
Twang!
As Icarus let the string loose, it immediately pushed the arrow, causing it to accelerate to near speed of sound, leaving a trail of pressurized in its wake.
Boom!
As the sonic boom rocked the forest, which neither Icarus nor anybody else in the hunting party was prepared for, the arrow had already ripped through the air and made it into the clearing. The Titanoboar was still sleeping peacefully not knowing anything. The sound of a balloon popping echoed throughout the forest a fist size hole was created where the head of the Titanoboar should have been.
Ding!
The sound of the quest being completed inside Icarus’ head but he was still shocked. Everybody else was also dumbly staring at the headless Titanoboar, nobody saying a word. A deafening silence pervaded the forest. The fact there were no animal sounds seemed to amplify the strange ambience by a hundred-fold. Caylus was the first to snap out of his daze and was about to speak when suddenly a chill ran up his spine.
Clap! Clap! Clap! A clapping sound broke the silence, which was followed by a gruff voice, ‘As expected of the son of Ragnarok and Frost Giantess.’
