Questing System - Chapter 6:Birth
Daedalus stood outside the house staring at the dark clouds gathering in the sky. The groans of a woman were coming from inside the house. He simply sighed and frowned as his gaze seemed to drift away.
‘Don’t worry my lord, Miss Sana is extremely strong, I am sure she will be fine.’ A man wearing leather armour and carrying a blue stone in his hands walked up to him.
‘Its not Sana that I am worried about,’ he shook his head as he turned to the man and pointed at the sky, ‘its the Karma Storm. Luckily Sana had set up the cloaking shield before her water broke. Speaking of which, how is the deployment going Caylus?’
‘All stations are ready and on stand-by.’ Caylus nodded and offered the blue crystal to Daedalus.
‘No,’ Daedalus pushed it back towards Caylus, ‘you keep it. I am going to go help with the delivery. Just deploy the shield now and keep increasing the input by 15% every ten minutes until it reaches maximum capacity.’ Calyus nodded and went off towards the nearby forest. Daedalus heaved a heavy sigh once again and then headed into the house.
A man was waiting by the edge of a forest, holding a blue crystal in his hand. His gaze was fixed on the dark mass of clouds in the distance. The blue crystal lit up as a voice was transmitted from the crystal. ‘Engage the field.’
The man held up the crystal to his mouth, ‘copy that.’ Then he took the crystal and slotted it into the diamond shaped wedge on the tree he was leaning on. Veins lit up in a blue light all around the slot, snaking their way over the tree. The crystal then lit up as a pillar of blue light shot up into the sky and headed towards the mass of dark clouds. Similar scene occurred all around Draconite farm as pillars of blue lights shot up and converged over the dark clouds. If one was to look from a birds eye perspective, they would see that the whole farm was actually covered in a circular dome with the pillars of the dome meeting over the centre of the mass of dark clouds.
The clouds seemed to be angered by this as they started thickening and slowly evolving into a spiralling tempest. The lightning roared and the wind howled, the clouds became thick and black like ink. A downpour started to furiously thunder down on farmland, causing birds and beasts to flee to their homes. In the midst of this storm, the wooden house seemed like a tiny boat rocked by waves. Yet, it remained still and standing. Lightning started crash and snake about in the clouds. At least thats what Caylus thought until a gigantic, lightning, serpentine dragon ducked its head out of the clouds and roared. ‘Holy shi-‘ he didn’t even get the chance to finish as the shockwave from the thunderous roar knocked him off his feet. He slowly got up, extremely pale, but otherwise alright. He didn’t get a chance to stay on his feet however as another gigantic flaming bird flew out from the thick clouds and screeched causing Caylus’ vision to swim. He dropped to knees and decided to stay there as the spectacle wasn’t over yet. The wind collected into a glowing green ball which took the shape of a tiger and roared, causing him to become breathless. The clouds quietened down after this, no showing a single hint of movement.
‘Wait a second…’ he listened closely and he could immediately hear it. There was a faint rumbling, not coming from the clouds. ‘Oh crap!’ He started running before he even knew exactly what he was running from. It was a wise choice to say the least as the ground where he had been standing erupted the next second, causing soil to rise up into the dark clouds. The rocking caused him fall and roll for a meters before unsteadily standing up. ‘Raise the power to 100%!’ He yelled into the crystal in his hand.
‘Are you sure? Why? Weren’t the instructions-‘
‘I don’t give a fuck about the instructions! The situation has changed, increase the power to 100%, I repeat increase the power to 100%’
There was a small pause before the voice replied. ‘Okay boss, increasing the shield power to 100%. Shields now operating at full capacity.’ The pillars of blue light thickened, becoming ten times as large. At the same time, the soil stopped flying into the clouds as gigantic turtle made out of soil, at least ten times larger than the other beasts emerged. Caylus was left speechless at this. Then he saw the other beasts circling the turtle before it withdrew into its shell and the beasts followed, causing the shell to collapse into a spherical dome. There was a rumbling sound before the entire world became quite once again.
An old man wearing a red cassock and red flowing hair was lounging in the royal garden. He had tea in one hand and a book in the other. As he reached for the book to flip the page, his hands started shaking. A frown appeared on his face before his eyes lit up in a golden light.
In another part of the world, a samurai was lounging underneath a cherry blossom tree, taking swigs from a wine gourd. ‘Hmm.’ His attention was drawn towards the west as he put his wine gourd down. ‘To get such a reaction.’ His eyes started to emit a soft pink light as he stared towards the west. ‘Let me see who you are.’
A dim room was lit up by a plethora of colours. The table in the middle of the room had the insignia of a shield covering two crossing swords. It was surrounded by four men and three women whose gazes were focused in a particular direction. ‘Who the hell would draw their attention?’ One of people standing standing behind the men whispered to himself.
In a freezing tundra, the icy winds were like blades scraping against the very ground. The temperature here reached such low levels that even the light seemed to freeze as it traveled through the atmosphere. In such a desolate environment, there was actually a castle made up of black iron standing tall. Inside this castle was a single throne upon which sat a man with pitch black hair, wearing a deep black robe underneath black chainmail and a dark muscled cuirass with red veins running on it. His head was leaned against the throne when his eyes shot open, revealing a serpentine pupil with black sclera and white iris. He reached his hand out and saw it shaking. ‘To cause awareness in I, the Great Devourer; Níðhöggr. You must be proud.’ A chilling dark blue light shot out of his eyes as he stared at a certain direction.
Every single one of the people who were staring saw the same scene. An orb silently floating in a sky somewhere, slowly absorbing the dark clouds around it. They didn’t know where this was taking place as they couldn’t see anything else but they still decided to patiently wait. All of them knew something big was about to occur. They didn’t get as far as they did by being impatient. As the last of the clouds were absorbed into the sphere, everything became extremely quiet and still. There was no more movement yet they could all feel it; something was about to happen.
