Questing System - Chapter 9:Prophecy
‘My lord, how is the baby?’ Caylus ran towards a weary looking Daedalus
‘He is fine and healthy. So is Sana.’
‘Thats good to hear,’ he sighed from relief. His lord had been looking forwards towards this child for a while now. The last thing he wanted to see was his lord heartbroken.
‘Now, what is the status of the shield?’
‘The shield is function at 5%’
‘What?!’ Daedalus stared at him with an extremely grim expression on his face, ‘explain everything that has happened ever since I stepped into the house.’
Caylus began explaining the occurrences that followed the karmic clouds. Four animals, a phoenix made out of flames, a turtle made out of earth, a tiger made out of the wind and a dragon made out of the lightning, all emerging out of the dark clouds. All four of them getting absorbed by the turtle shell which withdrew into its shell. The shell becoming a spherical orb. The orb then cracking to reveal a winged man who was wearing a golden cuirass and a brown hood. ‘Did you see the features of the winged warrior?’ Daedalus interrupted Caylus.
He nodded, ‘I am fairly certain I saw the man having electric purple eyes and flowing white hair peeking from just under the hood.’
Daedalus’ complexion went pale at this description. ‘Do you have a recording?’ Caylus reached into his back pocket and pulled out a red crystal pendant, giving it Daedalus, ‘everything is recorded in that.’
Daedalus nodded and grabbed the pendant, ‘tell Hitch that he did well. You guys can go now.’ Caylus nodded before heading off. Daedalus turned around and went back to the house. He saw Martha walking out with a bundled up sheet of blood and a steel bucket. ‘What do you want to do with the placenta?’
‘You can leave it with us.’ Daedalus grabbed the steel bucket off of her and bid her goodbye. Then he closed the door whilst rushing in.
Sana was resting next to her child when Daedalus walked into the room. From the heavy atmosphere around him she could immediately tell that something was wrong. ‘What happened?’ He didn’t say anything and just handed her the red crystal pendant. She clutched in her hand and closed her eyes, frowning before suddenly becoming incredibly.
‘Our child’s karma cloud reached Prophetic levels, quite literally.’
‘You mean to say that every powerhouse in world was watching the birth of our child, live?’
‘Not quite. If you look closely, you can see that as soon as the man opened his eyes the recording started to be flooded with static. This means that the man wasn’t just a projection, it actually blocked out all surveillance…it was a destiny avatar.’
‘That means the viewing was restricted to the highest levels.’ Sana nodded, before looking at Daedalus, ‘we need to know exactly how much they all saw.’
‘I was thinking more along the lines of running away before they all got here.’
Sana shook her head, ‘think logically honey, you know that if they really saw everything, we would have been swarmed by now but I haven’t sensed anything or anyone entering or leaving the territory. That could only mean…’
‘They didn’t see everything.’ He completed the sentence for Sana before nodding his head, ‘okay. I will send Lionel a letter asking him to pass on the message.’ He hurried out the room, grabbing a pen and a parchment on the way out. Sana looked at the baby lying next to her sleeping soundly. ‘You are such a troublemaker Icarus.’ She whispered, smiling, ‘only a few hours old and already creating so much trouble for mom and dad, my sweet Icarus.’ She sighed before closing her eyes and lying down next to her baby.
Whilst Daedalus and Sana were busy with their arrangements, everybody else was busy trying to find exactly where the baby had been born. Back in the dimly lit room, the table had been fixed up and everybody had changed into new garments. They were all sitting quietly as an eerie silence dawned over the room. ‘Everybody,’ the middle aged man with golden hair and a thick beard stood up, ‘I believe you have had ample time to converse with your sources. Now, I would like to hear what everybody has.’ The old man sat down, looking around the table. There was an awkward silence before one of the men with pitch black hair and hazel eyes stood. ‘I inquired with my sources at the Nephilheim Library about the peculiar details of winged men. As you all probably know, tribes with winged racial traits are extinct. The last known tribe known to have wings as a racial trait was the Cherubim tribe but they were only born with two small wings on their backs.’ He paused to take a sip of water before continuing, ‘that was when we decided to take a look at their history. It turns out that the Cherubim tribe was actually a slave tribe to another tribe known as the Archaleum tribe. They were a humanoid tribe born with two pair of wings. Still not three so we kept looking further. As you all know that Nephilheim Library is the oldest library in the entire world, so we went back to the oldest records we have; those of the Dark Memoirs Era.’ Everybody began grumbling as the man with the golden beard and hair raised his hand to quieten them down. ‘Okay,’ he rubbed his temples, ‘carry on, what did you find?’
The man gulped before continuing, ‘well, we found some documents referring to a god clan, know by the name of Covenant of Hermes.’
‘Okay, so basically you are proposing that a clan where the children are born powerful enough to kill adult men with a single hand went into hiding for well over a million years and are now resurfacing. Great so we have one theory, any other plausible ones?’ The man’s shoulders slumped and he sat down. There was a silence once again where nobody spoke.
‘Seriously? The eight strongest, most authoritative people on the planet and we can’t even find a newborn?!’ The man started yelling. The others stayed quiet because they could understand the frustration. The newborn was powerful enough to cause a prophecy when he was born. That had only happened twice before. As for the features of the Destiny Avatar, those set of features had only appeared once before.
‘I-I think I might actually have a plausible lead.’ Everybody’s eyes fell on one of the girls. She had flowing brown hair and was wearing a witch hat with scarlet robes that had a dragon insignia on them. The man turned towards her, his gaze was intimidating to say the least. ‘Go on.’
‘Well, you see, I didn’t exactly make the connection until Jin brought up the god clan. There was a prophecy before by Felix Helios.’
‘The Prophet of the Noon?’ The middle aged man raised his eyebrow at this.
‘Yes. I had my people pull up the prophecy from the Vanaheim’s Sage Tower.’ She grabbed an old piece of parchment lying on the table and cleared her throat before beginning to read.
‘The light will rise again, on wings of the long forgotten god. Bringing equilibrium to this chaotic era, restoring the balance of power. Uniting the worlds, alongside numerous shining pillars. The emperor of the dusk…’
‘Will be born again at dawn.’ The man completed the prophecy as gasping was heard all over room, coming from both the people seated around the table and the people behind them. Back when this prophecy was made, it rang the ears of almost everybody, spread throughout the continents by the bards. Part of the reason behind the popularity was the fact that it was made in public and partly because the prophecy used the word emperor.
Prophecies were the work of the great universe, were the result of millions of deeds, were the fruit harvested by sowing a great deal of karma. In the grand scheme of things, Emperors were frankly nothing but the “ruler of peasants” or the “farmers of discord”. If such an art decided somebody was an emperor then they were truly none of equal to this person. ‘The details add up, if that is the case then we just witnessed the birth of the Legendary Dawn Emperor. If that is the case, then we must find this child at all cost and train him to truly be worthy of the title.’ Everybody nodded, some were even giddy with excitement. The birth of the Dawn Emperor was supposed to be the signalling of a new era; the dawn of a new age. ‘Okay, now who was prophecy made to?’
‘The couple were disguised and only Felix knew their identities,’ the lady shook her head before she was interrupted by another man. This man had pitch black hair and a fair complexion. Everybody could tell that he was of the Eastern continental descent. He wore a black suit of armour with a black robes underneath and had his hair tied up by an ornamental pin. ‘Actually, that was supposed to be the case but, almost nothing can be hidden from the Sensō clan. It turns out that the couple were the renegade crowned prince of the Dragonsword Empire; Daedalus Dragonsword and he was with the former Shrine Priestess of the Shirahime clan; Sana Shirahime.’
‘Good, do you know their current position?’
The man shook his head, ‘almost nothing can be hidden from the Sensō clan. This is unfortunately one of the things that can be hidden. We can try to deploy almost all our sources to find them though.’
‘Do so.’ The man nodded, ‘in fact, all of you deploy your forces to find those two. Dismissed.’ Everybody nodded but nobody noticed one of the women who was dressed a black steel cuirass and had leather pants was clutching her hands tightly. ‘Daedalus, Sana, please be safe.’ She prayed in her mind.
