Quick Transmigration: Her Seduction Games - Chapter 23
Chapter 23: Her Response to His Frontal Attack (1)
Ingrid asked a passing waiter for another glass of water. She lied back on the backrest of her chair. With this, she looked relaxed to other people’s eyes, but in actuality, it was quite the opposite.
She was feeling antsy right now.
The purpose of the engagement party is to announce the wedding date. She tapped her fingers on the table; it gracefully danced on a rhythm that only she knows. Like everyone else, she’s eager to know the final date of her execution day.
Normally, a wedding takes place six months after the engagement party, but knowing Rembrandt, the wedding date would probably be something that would surprise the shit out of her.
The atmosphere of the whole party is casual. Although it was full of big shots of the construction business, the air was still light and not stifling. But hmm,
With a toothy grin, the emcee teased the couple in front, especially Lu Wen. “Miss Lu, how do you feel about being proposed to by an outstanding young man like Mister Hottie here?”
Ingrid saw how Rembrandt’s brow twitched when the emcee addressed him. Yep, the event is too casual for a stiff man like him. Ingrid laughed out loud in her head.
Teasing came from Lu Wen’s friends but she’s not shy at all. She smiled and faced Rembrandt with a gleam in her eyes. “It caused me happiness of course,” Lu Wen grasped Rembrandt’s hands firmly on her own. “Though the element of surprise is not there because we’ve known each other for so long, I just knew that sooner or later he will ask my hand for marriage.” She then raised both of their hands to display the ring on her finger.
The place had gotten noisy for a bit but Ingrid’s eyes stayed on the glaring ring. A thought somehow managed to escape from her mind.
‘My ring before was still better in design and quality.’
Ingrid reverted her attention to Rembrandt. Since the start, he just stood quietly at the side. A small smile hung on his lips. His gaze was soft, but that’s all. He doesn’t look like someone who just got engaged to someone he loves.
A memory passed in her mind.
Ah, it was indeed a sweet memory…
But to the Ingrid now, it was nothing but an unpleasant one that should have been long stashed at the very back of her mind.
Without her noticing, the emcee finally asked the question she’s been waiting for. The emcee had good observation skills. After detecting that Rembrandt didn’t seem pleased by the way he called him before, he said with a tone full of formality, “Now, the groom to be will give us the privilege of knowing the day of their wedding ceremony,” The emcee gave Rembrandt a mic. “Mr. Ambrose, please.”
Rembrandt’s speech was quite long, but only five words of it kept repeating in her mind. It was a shocking, “In two weeks from now.”
The glass of water almost fell out of her hand. She thanked the gods she didn’t have any liquid in her mouth or else she would have embarrassed herself by spitting it out.
Ingrid stared wide-eyed at the two. Cheers and claps floated in the air, but her eyes were only on Rembrandt’s grin.
What the effin fuċk, why are these people in rush. They actually pushed it to two weeks from now?!
Ingrid stood up. It was not in a flashy way, so nobody noticed aside from Dana’s parents who sat at the same table as her. They looked at their daughter worriedly. They were against the idea of her being here, but Dana insisted strongly.
Actually, Ingrid just stood up on a whim. She actually had no plan of doing anything. Her mouth gaped a bit but she immediately sat back down right away.
Ingrid’s hand trembled as she looked at her pale wrist.
She lowered head to hide the look of horror displayed on it.
She closed her eyes and asked herself…
Does she really have to do ‘that’?
