Quick Transmigration: Sorry, I Never Loved You - Chapter 206
“Of course. If that is what you wish for, then I naturally will comply.” Tang Yizhou loosened up the collars of his white shirt, feeling that it was becoming super tight as Xu Jiaqi got closer to him.
The room’s temperature should be staying the same due to their ventilation system, but somehow he thought the room was getting hotter and hotter with each passing second.
Can the woman use magic or something? Witchcraft? No way. That’s not scientific at all.
Use your brain, Tang Yizhou! What the hell are you thinking about?!
Tang Yizhou was caught in a dilemma with is own self, not being able to explain the phenomenon that is his everchanging spirits.
He sat down on his office chair and turned on his devices, putting on a pair of glasses to aid his vision. Along the process, he stole some side glances towards the woman. Every time he looked towards her way, Xu Jiaqi would also be intently staring at him with an interested smile, making his spirits lift up but at the same igniting his embarrassment.
He had to stop acting like this, or else!
Coughing to clear his throat, he began to work his mind, focusing on the screens in front of him. He also called his secretary over to finally begin his serious working hours.
Xu Jiaqi’s presence inside his boss’ office freaked out the secretary quite a bit, but he was someone who had an overwhelming aptitude in adapting to strange situations. He quickly assumed his composed state and helped his boss in finishing their work.
He noticed that Tang Yizhou’s condition had improved significantly from the last time he interacted with the boss. President Tang’s condition had gotten so bad that he almost resorted to not going into the office at all unless extremely needed a few days ago.
However, after some unknown circumstances, he began to pick himself back up and was reverted to his capable state, the one who was diligently fulfilling all of his duties right now.
The secretary, whose name was Zhang Teng also became motivated and lost his sense of time after indulging himself in work.
Time trickled by, and Xu Jiaqi kept herself busy by discussing with the System about what they should be doing from now on.
[Host, this guy.. I would appreciate it very much if you don’t get in contact with him. It could be very dangerous for you..!] The System didn’t dare to spill the truth directly, so he could only try and make his Host fear an unforeseeable danger coming her way.
He wasn’t lying! Tang. Yizhou. Is. Dangerous!
So dangerous that he wanted to die, ah~ How come this cockroach came back from the land of the dead?
No, he was pretty happy that his Host’s important one did not perish for good, since that would lead to a different set of problems later on. But characters needed to have the correct timing when appearing! Not. Now!
However, Xu Jiaqi wouldn’t listen to the System that easily.
‘Ao, little System, this is the first time you have had such a massive reaction.. This Tang Yizhou, I don’t think he is all that dangerous from the surface. Unless you’re hiding a bunch of information from me.. Then, why should I be afraid, hm?’
She became even more curious the more the System tried to warn her without giving any real context as to why exactly was he so dangerous. She wanted to bait the System out into saying the truth, but the mechanical companion never gave in.
Now, she was stuck looking at the view of Tang Yizhou working with all his might, his mind primed to the highest extent of excellence. He was swift, and yet his work was all done in a spectacular manner with no mistakes to them.
Xu Jiaqi whipped out her phone and took a casual picture of the man’s act. Unconsciously, a proud smile formed on her face.
______
“…That should be all of it, boss. Is there anything else that you want me to do?” Zhang Teng heaved a sigh of relief. After all the things that they have done, Zhang Teng was extremely satisfied. He had feared that they were falling behind in terms of productivity because of Tang Yizhou’s condition, and worried that problems would arise in no time.
Thankfully, a saving grace had arrived, and they were rescued from the pits of despair!
Zhang Teng saw Tang Yizhou creasing his brows harder than he did in the entire session of working. It made him wonder what had caused the evident distress.
“Zhang Teng, when you.. get- I don’t really know how to explain it, but if your heart beats faster, and it feels hotter, and.. you get nervous in front of someone.. How would you explain the cause of this kind of thing?” Tang Yizhou asked.
He himself did not know why he was so worried over this, but he wanted clarification.
“Could it be magic? A curse? A blessing?” Tang Yizhou muttered in a low voice, scared to let the woman know.
However, in the stance of doing so, his act of stealing a glance towards Xu Jiaqi became even more evident.
Oh my.
Oh my!
Oh my my my!
Zhang Teng’s mind was not only brilliant at work, but he was also adept in reading situations and perceiving unsaid meanings. He had been weirded out when he found out that Tang Yizhou had supposedly brought a woman into his own office, but now..
Could this be a sign to look out for? A possible change for the President’s way of living after all this time?
Zhang Teng snuck up a look towards Xu Jiaqi and observed her manners. Xu Jiaqi was indifferent towards everything that happened, and couldn’t care less about them.
“I think that.. the boss hasn’t gotten afflicted with anything weird. It’s just that.. I think the boss is interested in this person, that’s why you are making such responses.” Zhang Teng said.
“..Does that mean I adore her?”
“I wouldn’t know, boss. It’s up to you to realize how you feel, right? How can I dictate and predict what you are feeling right now? However, I can confirm that the miss sitting there isn’t using any sort of magic at all since I am not feeling a speck of change in the slightest.” Zhang Teng spoke in a matter-of-fact way as he advised his troubled boss.
Youth!
This was the taste of youth.
Zhang Teng was almost two decades older than the boss. This staggering age difference might be a strange thing, considering the standards of secretaries for other corporate presidents normally. Tang Yizhou was someone who viewed skills and wanted nothing but the best working under his reign, so Zhang Teng was truly picked because he was the cream of the crop out of all the candidates that could have been promoted to the position.
Due to his age, he had already passed youth many years ago, and had a happy family to return back to. The life he led was superb in his opinion, and he had a lot of experience weighing down on his back. The wife that he loved from the bottom of his heart.. When he first got to know her, was it like this as well?
Seeing the boss becoming flustered like this moved Zhang Teng, who had already viewed his boss as someone closer to him than just a superior after working with him for so long.
He was never blessed with a son, so seeing his boss like this sprouted an imagery inside his head that Tang Yizhou was his youngster son who was heavily uninformed about love.
Zhang Teng thought that he ought to support him as best as he could to make his boss’ feelings bud properly! And the woman.. Although he didn’t know anything about her yet, since it was the boss’ choice, then she must be a good person as well.
After all, if even Tang Yizhou couldn’t make the correct judgement, then who else could?
_____
“Miss Xu.. If you are free after this, then would you like to tag along with me.. perhaps we could have dinner in a cozy restaurant that suits your tastes?” Tang Yizhou asked earnestly.
Tang Yizhou treaded carefully with his words. Before coming here, which was akin to stepping on a battlefield which had landmines scattered everywhere under his feet, Zhang Teng had equipped him with some knowledge first.
The secretary made sure to tell the man that he had to be considerate of her feelings above everything else if he wanted to show his sincerity in courting her. Do not make rash decisions, and be calm.
Be calm.
…
Zhang Teng said it so simply.
But how could he be calm when this woman’s thumb was now on his bottom lip, her other hand removing his spectacles slowly and playing with it?!
Dear lord in heaven, this one prays to you.
