Quick Transmigration The Prodigal Son - Chapter 4
The Eldest Young Master’s Gentle Wife (4)
The solemn traditional room was matched with crystal lamps, phonographs and other western decorations, giving it a disharmonious atmosphere.
After Li Cai Wei gave Cui Xi the signal to retire from the room, she carried a bowl of plain porridge and stepped in with a pair of embroidered cloth shoes.
Jiang Zhe was lying on the bed. His eyelids didn’t even twitch when he heard the footsteps; he was just too tired.
Li Cai Wei tentatively called out twice, “Jiang Zhe? Jiang Zhe?”
No response.
In the empty room, only a gentle and soft female voice reverberated.
Li Cai Wei gave up calling him. Jiang Zhe thought that she would leave, so he could finally relax and rest.
Suddenly, the bed beside him sank down. Thanks to his many years of training, Jiang Zhe was a master of acting and did not give anything away.
Therefore, Li Cai Wei only heard the man’s light snoring, which was inexplicably a little cute.
She wiped the man’s face with a handkerchief, her eyes roaming across the familiar, yet unfamiliar face.
Jiang Zhe unconsciously became nervous.
Briefly, he felt dampness on his lips, and a mouthful of soft porridge was pushed into his mouth.
Again and again, the sweet light porridge slid down his throat and into his stomach, filling his empty stomach.
Jiang Zhe could no longer tell whether it was the porridge, or the soft gentle lips that was sweet.
In his mind, he could even clearly depict the graceful curvature of that soft lips.
There wasn’t much in a bowl of porridge. In merely a few minutes, Li Cai Wei was done feeding him.
She carefully got out of bed, and when she was going to leave, she accidentally saw the man’s hand firmly clenched by his side.
Instantly, it felt like freezing water poured over her head, cold to the bone. Her body trembled, and she saw black spots before her eyes.
Did he hate her that much?
That he needed to be so patient, so restrained.
Her sight gradually blurred, and without her knowing, tears were already flowing from her eyes.
Jiang Zhe heard her movements and opened his eyes in confusion. A beautiful crying face entered his eyes.
His pupils shrank, his nose opened and closed, as if he saw something incredible.
Those pair of sad eyes was too similar.
Jiang Yan closed his eyes and pressed down the memories that should have been forgotten. Once he opened his eyes again, he had regained his cold personality.
Li Cai Wei was shocked when he opened his eyes, only now did she react and hurriedly turned around and left.
The system couldn’t help but call out for her sake, “Why didn’t you stop her?”
Jiang Zhe asked bewilderedly, “Why should I?”
System: ………
You really deserve to be single.
The system was angered away by him. Jiang Zhe sat alone on his bed.
The drowsiness had already largely dissipated with his full stomach.
Thinking about it, he touched his lips, some images appearing in his mind uncontrollably.
The next morning at the Jiang family’s main hall.
Father Jiang was eating a meat bun, as he looked at Jiang Yan strangely. He quickly swallowed the food in his mouth and said, “Dad thought you would rest longer.”
Jiang Zhe: “Father once taught this son, one should persevere at one’s job.”
Father Jiang: “That makes sense. Quickly, eat. After eating, follow Dad around again today.”
Jiang Zhe nodded.
Before leaving the house, Jiang Zhe called Shui Gen over and whispered something into his ear. Shui Gen widened his eyes, and hurriedly nodded.
Father Jiang said teasingly, “Zhe’er also has his secrets now, going to keep it from Dad.”
Jiang Zhe thought for a moment and said, “It’s not a big deal. I asked Shui Gen to bring Younger Brother Ming to Yunlan City.”
Father and son chatted while walking one after another. Father Jiang raised an eyebrow, “Dad still remembers the past, when you weren’t very close with A’Ming. How did you suddenly think to bring him over and play?”
Jiang Zhe shook his head, “Father misunderstood. This son wants to transfer Younger Brother Ming to Yunlan City to study.”
Father Jiang’s footsteps suddenly stopped. He turned around to face Jiang Zhe: “Are you serious?”
Jiang Zhe: “Yes.”
Father Jiang looked at him confused, “Does your mother know about this?”
Jiang Zhe: “This son will coax Mother.”
The father and son duo were conflicted for a while, but Father Jiang eventually gave in, “Okay. You’re all grown up now and can make your own decisions.”
A small smile bloomed on Jiang Zhe’s face, “Thank you Father.”
Father Jiang: “Oh, Dad is Dad, what Father? You scholars like to blindly follow the books. Calling me Father, how distant.”
Jiang Yan pursed his lips, “………Dad.”
Father Jiang was satisfied, “En.”
The two men got on the car. Father Jiang opened his mouth again, “Zhe’er, Dad isn’t deliberately picking at your sore spots. Dad knows that you scholars have very high esteem, and look down on businessmen like Dad.”
Jiang Zhe lowered his eyebrows.
Father Jiang: “But this is life, not something you can get through by knowing words or creating poems. The daily food you eat and clothes you wear, which one doesn’t need money, am I right?”
Jiang Zhe’s gaze sharpened, “Dad is right.”
Father Jiang patted his shoulder with relief, “It’s good that you understand. You are my son, I won’t hurt you. When you’re out of the comforts of home, it’s nothing to be defeated sometimes. After you recover from the setbacks, you are still the Master of the house, do you understand Dad?”
Father Jiang said it in a roundabout way, but Jiang Zhe understood. Father Jiang was worried that when he conducts his business in the future, he would be unable to put down his status, and thus used this opportunity to explain it to him.
If it was the original soul, he would probably argue vehemently about it. Jiang Zhe, on the other hand, understood the meaning in Father Jiang’s advice.
He didn’t dare to put it too seriously, in case he triggered his son’s rebellious heart. However, he didn’t dare put it too lightly, in case his son suffers losses in the hands of others.
It was a perfect example of the pitiful, misunderstood hearts of all parents around the world.
Jiang Zhe face was solemn, but his eyes continued to look forward, “Thank you for your teachings, this son will remember it in his heart.”
Father Jiang was happy, and his eyes were full of smiles. He took Jiang Zhe’s hand and patted it, “You are undoubtedly Dad’s good son.”

TN: I couldn’t resist doing this chapter, largely because the first 3 chapters seem to be more on setting the stage for the story. This chapter gives us more information on Jiang Zhe’s internal conflict and his relationship with Li Cai Wei (as well as a bit more action) and that makes me happy.
Last chapter for the week! Probably.
