QuickBae - Chapter 15

Team QuickBae and SuperKid retreated to one end of the street as they faced TP-28. Not only was TP-28 fast and super strong, but it was almost as if he could predict every move that Team QuickBae were going to launch at him. The outcome of the fight was clearly in TP-28’s favor. TP-28 then spoke up to team QuickBae;

TP-28: Can you now see that all your efforts are futile! Y’all will never be able to defeat me so y’all should just surrender now, especially you SuperKid

SuperKid: What’s your deal anyways? Why are you Topians so fixated on me? And what’s so special about my abilities that your leader wants to have them removed from me?

TP-28: So you want to know huh?! Okay then, I will tell you. Have you ever heard of Phoenix man and Super woman?

SuperKid: No, what’s so special about them?

TP-28: I will tell you. You see, Topians are a special kind of species of humans. They have super natural strength, super speed, X-Ray vision and sensory perception, and many more unique abilities

SuperKid: Yeah, I think I figured out that much already!

TP-28: (smiling manically) But did you know that among the Topians, they were different clans as well, each with their own unique trait and abilities that differentiate them from other clans?!

SuperKid: What!

TP-28: Yes indeed. If you had noticed when TP-29 attacked you guys before, you will observe that both TP-29 and I have a shield on our backs. Well that is a significance of our clan “the Zeroths”. Due to the fact that we can get injured; unlike the normal Topians, our shield makes up for that. We can use it to prevent any attack that may be harmful on our body. That being said, another way to know Topians from my clan is through the lack of ability to fly by its members. So we are in a way, not the best kind of Topians since we lack skills we ought to have. That aside, they are other clans which have unique abilities too. For us, it’s the ability to maneuver and use our shields easily, even though it is extremely heavy for the regular humans. I’m sure even a Topian outside my clan will find it a bit difficult to control my shield. For other Topians in other clans, it is either the unique ability to use wind attributes, crystalline, frost/freeze or heat up stuff

Ali: So that stuff you did earlier, the disintegrating stuff, is it part of your clans abilities?

TP-28: Yes it is. That and what you saw TP-29 do with his abilities when you guys last fought. They are all part of my clan’s unique skill

Presh: Does that mean that you can also acidify stuff?

TP-28: No, because we in our clan can only use one out of the two rare skills exhibited by TP-29 and me

TP-28: I am getting to that part. Topians usually have a King and a Queen. Those who belonged to the strongest clans were usually the one’s offered the royal title. Although we were all one, Topians from different clans never really got along. We were always at war with each other. That is when Phoenix man, belonging to the “Flamith clan” and Superwoman, belonging to the “Cooleth clan” decided to get married as the two royal heirs of their clans and form a strong alliance that will make their enemies not stand a chance in attacking them, thereby making Phoenix man the King of Topia and Superwoman, his Queen. Mind you, these two clans I just mentioned; are the strongest clans of all Topian clans. And these two individuals were known to be the best out of all Topians. After the matrimony, Phoenix man and Superwoman formed a new clan, comprising of all their members; and named it “Forceth clan”. Due to their alliance, no enemy dared attack the “Forceth clan” because they were just too strong. It was later rumored that the Queen, Superwoman had conceived an heir. Naturally, the genes of both Phoenix man and Superwoman will pass down to their child, making him a hybrid of both clans and its abilities

SuperKid: So this heir had both the Phoenix man and Superwoman’s unique clan ability, right?!

TP-28: Exactly. Phoenix man’s clan has the special ability to use heat vision which can penetrate through the hardest metal on earth while Superwoman’s clan has the special ability to use the freeze breath; a handy skill that freezes down the molecules of matter to -50 degrees Celsius

Killer Freeze: Whoa, that is even way colder than my Ice freezing strength!

TP-28: Yeah it is. And trust me, that kind of ability when used on someone, can immobilize them instantly. My leader, who is also from my clan, devised a way in stealing the abilities of other Topians. And slowly but gradually, we started wiping out the other Clans by stealing their abilities and infusing them in my leader. His aim is to be the strongest of all, in all clans and become the true King of Topia

SuperKid: That’s insane. I mean, even if he is now stronger, he can’t obviously beat the “Forceths” because they are a formidable clan. Not to mention the fact that they have a hybrid heir

TP-28: Yeah you might be right, and you might be wrong!

SuperKid: What do you mean by that?

TP-28: When the heir was given birth to, that was when the Forceths were most vulnerable. My leader then decided to attack the Forceths. That was about twenty eight years ago and I was only eleven. We conquered the Forceths with the help of my leaders acquired strength, because by that time, he had already wiped out all the other clans. But before my leader could completely wipe out the Forceths, two of its clan members escaped. That is, the twin brother of Phoenix man and the heir that was entrusted to him

TP-28: Don’t you get it?! Quantum man is Phoenix man’s twin brother and his son, the heir; is you, SuperKid!

SuperKid: (astonished) what!

Kayleb: That’s why you want SuperKid so bad, so that your leader can get his abilities and become the strongest Topian. Am I right?!

TP-28: Yeah. As long as SuperKid is still with his abilities, my boss feels insecure. Even though he is now currently ruling Topia, he doesn’t want any hindrances in his master plan

SuperKid: I am the heir huh!

TP-28: Don’t tell me Quantum man never told you?

SuperKid: (angrily) How could he?…When he just abandoned me! When I found out that I was a Topian, it was still when I was just thirteen years old. It was an accident though but I realized that I could do things no normal human should be able to do. I was then determined to know where I came from and I found a lead to an abandoned warehouse where I noticed a cradle. On it had my suit’s logo and in it, was some of my details which included my name and where I was from. It also stated that Quantum man was my uncle and he was going to take care of me. I was a fool to have believed that because now, I realize that Quantum man is nothing but a jerk and a coward since he is too scared to come look for me, or at least talk to me!

After hearing this from SuperKid, the members of team QuickBae who knew Quantum man’s real identity started

feeling guilty because they were keeping a big secret from SuperKid. TP-28 then continued talking;

TP-28: Well it doesn’t matter what you now know either way. You won’t still be able to defeat me

SuperKid: My parents, what happened to them?

TP-28: (smiling evilly) What do you think happened?!

SuperKid: (even more angry now) You bastard…..how dare you all?! I will surely make you all pay. And after I am through beating every single Topian your boss keeps sending, I will find my way to him and destroy everything he cares about. After that, I will beat him!

TP-28: (laughing) Oh really, why don’t you prove it by beating me first?! Not that you can…!

Meanwhile, Dr Smart who was observing everything back in the base came up with an idea which he shared to Team QuickBae;

Dr Smart: (through the ear communicators) Guys, listen up! When Kayleb and TeeKay attacked earlier and intertwined, they were able to land hits on TP-28. I figured it’s because TP-28 cannot comprehend two attacks launched at him at the same time, talk more of more than two attacks. So what I am suggesting is; you all should attack together as a team and try to pin him down. Don’t fight him individually

Kayleb: Roger that Dr Smart, we’ve got it

After getting this information from Dr Smart, Kayleb told SuperKid to charge and launch more multiple attacks on TP-28 to distract him. If he did that, then he and the rest of the team will come up with something to defeat TP-28. SuperKid nodded and angrily Zoomed off his spot and appeared directly in front of TP-28 with a super punch and this time, he got TP-28. It seemed that SuperKid’s persistence in defeating TP-28 had increased after learning the truth. But that punch wasn’t enough to defeat TP-28 and the two continued their hand to hand combat. While fighting, QuickBae and KidBae, appeared out of nowhere and started landing supersonic punches at TP-28. After that, they disappeared from their spots and reappeared in another different position close to TP-28, landing even more supersonic punches at him. Even with these attacks from the two, SuperKid still continued attacking TP-28. TP-28 was confused because he couldn’t handle multiple attacks at once and this caused all of QuickBae’s, KidBae’s and SuperKid’s attacks to hit. It turns out that each time QuickBae and KidBae appeared and disappeared in front of TP-28, it was as a result of Le Vibe opening portals which the speedsters used as a medium to pass through and get in front of TP-28. Using the same portal, they were able to change positions rapidly and continue attacking. The three continued this simultaneously until TP-28 started getting exhausted and that was when Killer Freeze froze his entire body;

Killer Freeze: That should hold him for now

But before Team QuickBae could catch their breaths, TP-28 escaped from his Ice prison and removed his shield. And like a boomerang, he threw it and it knocked out every member of Team QuickBae due to its heaviness and hardness. TP-28 then threw it this time at SuperKid and even though SuperKid caught the shield, it was too heavy for him to handle. Thus, the shield knocked him off the ground as well. TP-28 then started moving towards helpless Team QuickBae and was about using his disintegrating abilities to finish up the team when SuperKid angrily got off the ground and swiftly spared TP-28 to another end of the road. The two then got up and TP-28 threw his shield at SuperKid again but this time, it split into two before it hit SuperKid. TP-28 was shocked and it then came to his realization that SuperKid’s eyes were glowing blood red. SuperKid activated the heat vision and had used it against his shield. Afterwards, TP-28 started freezing from the legs upwards. SuperKid had now activated the Freeze breath as well and with it, he completely immobilized TP-28; therefore wining the fight. It was finally over because TP-28 couldn’t escape from this Ice Prison.

Team QuickBae and SuperKid then headed back to base. When they got back, Hafsat had already packed her belongings as she had decided to go back with Kent and find out more about her people. She thanked Aeres for hosting her for the past couple of days and Team QuickBae for welcoming her as part of their family and team. After that, she confessed her feelings to Kayleb and Kayleb told her he felt the same way. Aeres although heartbroken, was genuinely happy for the two of them. That is when she decided to let her feelings die for Kayleb because she felt like ‘her and Kayleb’ were never meant to be. SuperKid then set to leave with Hafsat and the Frozen TP-28. By this time, he seemed to have calmed down a bit;

SuperKid: Very well team QuickBae. I have to be going back now, to Stanbic city. Thank you all for your help once again

Kayleb: Anytime Kent. It was our pŀėȧsurė because we consider you a member of Team QuickBae. And please, do take care of Hafsat for me, would you?!

SuperKid: Sure thing Kayleb. I will ensure that she gets back to her hometown safely (the two now shaking each other’s hands)

Hafsat: So I guess I will call you huh! (Talking to Kayleb)

Kayleb: Not if I call you first

The two then giggled and shared a kiss. Afterwards, Hafsat turned to leave with Kent. Team QuickBae saw them off and Kent left with Hafsat and the frozen TP-28 Topian.

Team QuickBae then went back to their base and Dr Smart said something to the rest of the team as they got in;

Dr Smart: Guys, I really feel guilty for keeping the fact that Kent’s adopted father is actually Quantum man; from Kent

TeeKay: Are you for real?! So you are trying to tell me that you all knew this and didn’t bother to tell Kent!

Kayleb: About two and a half years ago, Quantum man helped us in our fight against Alternate. Yes, we discovered his identity back then but he made us promise not to tell Kent anything

TeeKay: But why?

Ali: He has his reasons

TeeKay: But that’s not fair. Kent deserves to know the truth

Presh: We feel the same way too TeeKay, but there is nothing we can do about it. We promised back then and we can’t go back on our words now. I feel that when the time is right, Quantum man will eventually tell Kent the whole truth

Back in Stanbic city, after Kent had dropped Hafsat off in her city and detained TP-28, he went back home to Abdul Yusuf and narrated everything to him. He also added how he now dislikes Quantum man even more for abandoning him. Abdul (really sad) just comforted Kent and said in his mind “I am sorry Kent and I will eventually tell you the whole truth one day.. But that day isn’t today”.
