QuickBae - Chapter 16

It was another beautiful Saturday morning and Kayleb was bored in Team QuickBae’s base. He was monitoring the systems for any Human Dynamo attack so that he will swing into action but apparently, no crime seemed to be happening. Hafsat, Ali, TeeKay, Aeres and Dr Smart then walked into the base;

Kayleb: Where on earth have you all been?

Dr Smart: Oh, Sorry Kayleb. We usually go on a routine morning jog. I forgot to include you, you know; being captured and all that

Kayleb: It’s a good thing y’all didn’t include me in your jog. We all know I cannot handle slow paces

Dr Smart: All the more reason why you should come with us next time. It will really help you as a speedster because the greatest speedsters are the ones who knows how to calm down and access their opponents every move

Kayleb: Are you trying to say that I don’t think rationally?

Dr Smart: That’s not what I am insinuating. I am simply saying that, if you slowed down more often, then you might be able to think clearly and not in haste

Kayleb: (feeling infuriated) Okay, that’s just rude Dr Smart. I shouldn’t have to remind you that I am way faster than you now!

Dr Smart: But I am more experienced Kayleb: What! I…

Kayleb: Well, I was monitoring the systems to see if there was any Human Dynamo attack. Yes, Sterling city knows I am back now and they are thrilled as well but I still need some action. I am itching to beat up some bad guy right about now

Dr Smart: Exactly the point I was trying to make

Presh: (interrupting this time to prevent another argument from popping up) Anyways, we have rounded up almost all the Human dynamos who committed their life to crime, Kayleb. So you should start getting used to being a scientist again because you will hardly hear of crime rates

Kayleb: That’s too bad

Aeres: How is Hafsat by the way, Kayleb?!

Kayleb: She’s doing fine. I spoke to her over the phone and she has arrived safely in her city. According to her, she is being treated well and has even resumed training to become the City’s hero today

Aeres: That’s nice. It’s been a week since she left and it’s sad though that she didn’t get to meet my dad as she was staying with me. That would have been really nice

Kayleb: By the way, when is Joey going to get back from his missions? He is also a crucial member of team QuickBae you know!

Aeres: I spoke to him yesterday and he told me that he should be back in the next two months

Neesha: My name is Neesha, and I am also known as Gypcess. I ȧssume this is Team QuickBae, right?

Kayleb: How did you know that?

Neesha: That’s all thanks to my abilities. I have been looking for a formidable team to help me with my fight and when I found out that QuickBae was back, I simply traced your energy source to this location with my mental abilities. I used your spark energy as a signature trace for me to follow and well, here I am. Though it took time to find you, QuickBae, because you weren’t exactly staying in one place after all your fights with a villain

Dr Smart: That means you have been stalking Kayleb ever since he came back…..And the fact that you are able to find him so easily means you are also a Human dynamo, are you not?

Neesha: Affirmative. I was a mentalist who was on tour in Sterling city when the mercury oven exploded. I was working on my final show when the wave hit me. I suċkėd in a lot of immense energy but on my head. And with my already high IQ, the ISEC fused and well, it resulted to my mental abilities

Ali: (gasps) Just like me!

Neesha: Hmm, what do you mean?

Ali: I am also a Human dynamo like you, Neesha!

Neesha: Are you for real? That’s amazing!

Neesha: Anyways, when I discovered my abilities, it wasn’t all hard for me to control it since my profession dealt with the mental state of the mind. That gave me an edge in comprehending my sills and now; I can open portals, feel vibrational energies and boost my sensory perception on my own

Ali: (intrigued) No way! I can’t even do stuff like that yet. Usually, I rely on Dr Smart’s tech to boost my sensory perceptions

Neesha: You will get there. Just find the force within you that drives you to your goal!

Ali: (Smiling) I can totally relate to that!

Kayleb: That is quite impressive and all but you haven’t still told us how you need our help, Neesha

Neesha: Oh yeah, getting to that now. You see, after I left Sterling City with my new abilities, approximately three years ago, I dedicated my life to fighting crime for my actual city. My city’s name is Amazo city. Things were going fine and since I was the only Human dynamo there, I helped the police in tracking down dangerous criminals and putting them behind bars. All was going well until my rival, Jessie fast, came to my city and started causing problems for me. She is speedster who has committed her life to crime. How she got her abilities, I do not know. But since she is also a Human Dynamo like me and a very strong speedster as well, it has been very hard to stop her. That’s why I need your help Team QuickBae in stopping her permanently and detaining her so that I can go back to saving my city peacefully

TeeKay: That means this speedster, Jessie fast, is just like me and Dr Smart who got her speed indirectly from Kayleb, right?!

Presh: Yes and apparently, Alternate didn’t get to her as well. She is one of the surviving four speedsters

Kayleb: Still, the fact that she is using her speed for a life of crime is what pisses me off. I am so angry right now!

Kayleb: (yelling) what more proof do you want Dr Smart?! Clearly, Neesha needs our help and I am going to help her!

Ali: I don’t know if what she said is actually the truth or not, but I am with Kayleb on this one. I will help her too

Neesha felt flattered by Ali’s and Kayleb’s statement and thanked them. Dr Smart then continued;

Dr Smart: I am just saying, what if……

Presh: (Cutting Dr Smart off) don’t worry Dr Smart. It would be alright. Let’s help her, I have a feeling she isn’t deceiving us. After all, she now knows our identities and she has told us hers

TeeKay: Okay Neesha, tell us what you need our help with?!

Neesha: The plan is simple actually. Jessie Fast put a tracking device on me to know my whereabouts, thinking I am unaware. But actually, I am using the tracker to lure her to my exact location here in Sterling city so that we will all put her down, together. She should arrive at any moment

Kayleb: Then let’s head down to the training ground and wait for her there. Come on Team QuickBae!

All Team QuickBae members suited up and rushed to the training ground with Neesha to wait for Jessie Fast. But Dr Smart didn’t follow, he stayed behind. Aeres, on noticing this, went back and spoke to Dr Smart;

Dr Smart: (Looking worried) I am afraid Kayleb is making another decision in haste. I mean we know nothing about this girl, so we can’t exactly trust her

Aeres: That’s true but you know how Kayleb is. When he is determined in doing something, he goes all out. So I say we just help him with this!

Dr Smart: Yeah, you are right. Let’s go!

Aeres and Dr Smart then joined the others to wait for Jessie Fast. While waiting, Ali and Neesha seemed to be bonding really well, flattering each other with how cool it was that they could control their abilities to a certain extent.

After a while of waiting, Jessie Fast finally arrived. She was wearing a grey and yellow suit with a mask on her face;

Jessie Fast: So you found yourself a team, right Gypcess?!

Neesha: Yes Jessie and we are all going to put you down for good

QuickBae: Surrender Jessie Fast; there is no point in fighting now. You are clearly outnumbered

Jessie Fast: (looking around and noticing team QuickBae surrounding her) Why do you all trust that woman? (pointing at Neesha)

Jessie Fast: I see. Then any friend of hers in an enemy of mine!

After saying this, Jessie blurred out of her spot and one after the other, she knocked out all team QuickBae’s members, except for Dr Smart, TeeKay and Kayleb, who seemed to have seen her attacks coming. Neesha was also knocked out as well.

“She’s fast” Dr Smart thought.

Jessie Fast then halted;

Jessie Fast: Last chance, surrender and hand over Neesha to me. I don’t want to hurt anyone

QuickBae: Yeah right….like we’d actually do that!

Jessie Fast: Then you leave me no choice

The fight between speedsters continued and it was intense. It lasted for about twenty minutes. After that time, all speedsters came to a halt;

Jessie Fast: Why are you guys siding with the bad guy? I thought QuickBae was a hero of this city?! Then why is he supporting a criminal?

Dr Smart: What do you mean by “criminal”?

Jessie Fast: Gypcess is a well known criminal in Amazo city. She and I are the only Human dynamos there and that’s why she is using her skills as a means to get whatever she wants. I have been trying to stop her for a while now but due to the fact that we are evenly matched, none of us have been able to beat the other. That is why she came to you guys in the first place, so that you will help her defeat me and get me out of her way

QuickBae: And you expect us to believe what you just said?!

Jessie Fast: I had a feeling this might happen….That’s why I brought proof with me because I know how convincing Gypcess can be!

Jessie Fast then showed them a newspaper she had with her, that was recently published in Amazo city which revealed Jessie Fast as the actual hero and Gypcess, a notorious criminal.

QuickBae was beyond astonished;

QuickBae: I can’t believe this, she fooled us

Jessie Fast: That is what I have been trying to tell you all

Dr Smart: My sincerest apologies, Jessie Fast. We had no idea!

Jessie Fast: I understand why you all did it, so I am not offended. But we need to restrain Gypcess now before she regains consciousness. Sorry I was a bit hard on your team though

Dr Smart: It was probably for the best

The speedsters then restrained Neesha in a special cell built by Dr Smart in Smart’s Lab to restrain Human Dynamos and suppress their abilities. They now removed Neesha’s glasses to reveal her face. After a while, Team QuickBae; who were all knocked out earlier, regained consciousness along with Neesha;

Neesha: (Noticing that she is now restrained and team QuickBae; staring from outside her cell) what are you guys doing? Why have you restrained me?

Ali: (now realizing that Neesha have been restrained) I don’t get it. Why have you locked Neesha up? And what is Jessie Fast doing so close to you QuickBae?

Presh: Dr Smart, I am confused!

Dr Smart: It turns out that Neesha was the real villain here. She fooled us all

Ali: No way. You have got to be kidding, right?!

Kayleb: No Ali, he is right. Neesha fooled us all and I want to know why?!

Neesha: (laughing evilly) so Jessie, you managed somehow to get them on your side huh! I am impressed

Ali: What are you doing Neesha, why are you talking like this? Please tell me what they are saying isn’t true

Neesha: What more do you want to hear Ali? Of course it’s true

Ali: (Heartbroken) I can’t believe this. You made me believe all what you said before. So all that, were they all lies?!

Neesha: Everything I said earlier is the truth, except for the fact that I am the hero. I realized my abilities about two and a half years ago and thought, why not run away to another city where they are no Human Dynamos and terrorize it?!

Unfortunately for me, Jessie also found her way somehow to Amazo city and decided to be it’s hero. She has always ruined my plans ever since and that is why I wanted you all to help me put her down for good. But now that I have been discovered, I guess you all are of no use to me anymore. Till we meet again, Jessie Fast!

After saying this, Gypcess opened a portal in the cell she was restrained in and jumped through it. The portal then closed. After witnessing this, Team QuickBae couldn’t get over the shock of how Neesha was able to use her abilities in a place that was meant to suppress them in the first place.. That was how Gypcess escaped.
