QuickBae - Chapter 21

The chill war brings down people’s spine; one can only imagine! The Sterling City where the hero; QuickBae resides, is nothing now but a land completely turned to rubble by the outcome of war. It’s been three years already since the “night of the incident”, the night when the Mercury Oven exploded. Down Flower Avenue, QuickBae; who is covered in scars and bleeding profusely, is seen laying face down and unconscious on the street. Footsteps then approached the lifeless speedster. With what little strength he was able to gather, QuickBae regained consciousness and raised his head gently;

QuickBae: (Coughing out blood) How are you still alive?

Alternate: (Smiling maniacally) Wouldn’t you like to know?!

Four months earlier, in team Quickbae’s base…..

Kayleb: So Brainstorm wasn’t joking, he really did plan this whole War?

Hafsat: I’m afraid so….and we have little time to prepare!

Dr Smart: How did you even get intel about this war, Hafsat?

Hafsat: When I got back to Gratz city, I was hooked up with a man called Senju. He was known to be the best Vigilante in Gratz. He was also my parent’s adviser, before they got Lost….

Ali: Lost?

Hafsat: Yeah. After I was kidnapped when I was a child, my parents set out to find me alone. But they never returned. No one has seen nor heard from them ever since

Presh: Sorry about that dear!

Hafsat: It’s okay. Anyways, Senju trained me ever since I got back; to be a Vigilante. It wasn’t all hard for me to grasp the hang of it, you know….because I am a Cabenaro! Now, I am able to protect Gratz whenever it needs me

Kayleb: That’s amazing! So, you are now the hero of Gratz just like how I am the hero of Sterling City?!

Hafsat: I guess so! Senju was the one protecting Gratz after my parent’s disappearance. He managed to formulate an army of people; trained to become Vigilantes

Hafsat: No, just ordinary people like Senju. Apparently, my parents were the ones who trained him. And with that, he passed down the training to others, so that he can build an Army. The reason is because, he had a premonition approximately three years ago about the upcoming war

Aeres: That’s around the time the mercury oven exploded!

Hafsat: Exactly! Brainstorm was good in covering his tracks but Senju accidentally figured out his plan..

Two years, six months earlier….

A Ninja is stealthily jumping on buildings at 8:55PM. He notices a speedster, halting from super speeding; close to a building below him. The ninja then jumps down from the building to face the speedster;

Night Crawler: Why are you following me?

Alternate: To make sure you don’t ruin my plan

Night Crawler: I know, I know…..you want this new speedster’s speed, right? Fine, I will get him for you. But after I have retrieved the banking strategy documents of Finance bank. Even though we are working for you; Alternate, some of us have a life to live you know!

Alternate: You know i can end you here if I see fit….so watch your tongue with me Brat! Yes I want QuckBae’s speed but the real mastermind isn’t me…..It’s Brainstorm!

Alternate: You will find out one day, if you do your job right. He has great plans for us you know! He is a planning a war in about three years to come…..a war to wipe out all the heroes

Night Crawler: So that’s this Brainstorm’s plan huh?! I guess I dont mind, as long as it’s just the heroes he is wiping out. Anyways, I have a document to steal. Don’t worry, I will get QuickBae for you!

Alternate: Good. Succeed, and I will set you free from me and my plans

Night Crawler: Now that’s a motivation I can work with!

Alternate then swooshes out of the scene while Night Crawler climbs up another building and heads straight to Finance Bank

Present day……..

Hafsat: Unfortunately for Night Crawler, QuickBae defeated him and Alternate continued sending more Human Dynamos after Kayleb. But that night, while Alternate and Night Crawler had that discussion, Senju overheard everything. He was passing by after staying in Sterling City for a couple of days due to an ȧssignment he was working on

Ali: So, neither Alternate nor Night Crawler realised that someone was listening in on their conversation?

Hafsat: Senju is quite stealthy too you know…I mean, we Cabenaros all are!

Aeres: No dad….Senju isn’t a Cabenaro but he was trained by one. Try to keep up!

Joey: Oh sorry

Hafsat: Anyways, after hearing that, Senju decided afterwards to make an army to prepare for this war. He has managed to train quite the soldier’s we need but he’s afraid they won’t be sufficient. So after I came back and he trained me as well, he told me everything he found out three years ago and sent me on this request to go and retrieve every hero in each city and have them help us in this fight; especially since it concerns us all

Dr Smart: So, this Senju guy wants us to start gathering an army too with all the heroes out there?

Hafsat: Yes Dr Smart. That’s the plan!

Ali: A little warning would have been nice. I mean, why didn’t he tell us this before now?

Hafsat: He didn’t know your secret identities before. So when he found out I knew, he sent me immediately and here I am!

Kayleb: How much time do we have left until the war starts?

Hafsat: Till the next four months

Kayleb: Maybe they are more….I mean, when I faced Brainstorm the last time, he told me of how they were other heroes out there we knew nothing about

Hafsat: Senju has also been doing his research and he said the same thing

Ali: Okay, let me see if I can do something about that!

Ali then started focusing his energy to locate any human globally, with extraordinary abilities. With his ability, he wasn’t just looking for Humans with the traces of ISEC in their systems, but also Humans with more energy source than normal. He expanded his search and after ten minutes, he was able to pick up six different location where people with Super Abilities lived;

Ali: Okay, I have found six different locations of people I think are not your regular Humans. Two of these locations are Stanbic city and Amazo city….and I believe we all know who those heroes are! The remaining four cities are: Atlanta city; deep in the Pacific Ocean, Ralphz city; in Cameroon, Starlight city; in Tokyo and Ghoul city; in Japan

Presh: All these cities you just mentioned are quite far from Sterling City….we even have to go across continents to get to some of them!

Dr Smart: And did you say one of these cities; is in the Pacific ocean, Ali? Like, under water?

Kayleb: Brainstorm also mentioned people like that too in our last fight

Hafsat: So it is settled then. We all split up and go retrieve these people to come to our side, right?!

Ali: The “Forces of Evil”?

Kayleb: That’s what Brainstorm called them; all the heroe’s enemies together as one. He also referred to us heroes as the “Forces of good”

Aeres: I thought you already knew all this, Ali?

Ali: Oh yeah, I remember now!

Hafsat: So what do we do then, Kayleb? How do we get people on our side before the war happens?

Kayleb: You know what, you are right Hafsat! We do not know how the “Forces of Evil” will attack yet. So, we split up into four groups and go in search of these heroes. We will convince them to join us before four months time and come back together later; to lure all our enemies out to a particular location and take the fight to them..we will emerge victorious. Besides, which enemy will refuse a bait of all the heroes in one place? They will all surely come and fight us!

Dr Smart: That makes sense…..instead of our enemies joining forces and attacking us heroes one after the other, it’s best if we also join forces with other heroes and lure all our enemies out before the time they intend on attacking us. We will then settle the scores once we have lured them all out to a particular deserted location. That way, even if war breaks out, no citizen will be harmed

Kayleb: Okay then. Aeres and I will head to Atlanta city….

Dr Smart: Joey and I will head to Ralphz City…..

Ali: I and Hafsat will rendezvous with SuperKid and Jessie Fast…..I will fill them in on everything and we will all head to Starlight city

Kayleb: Whatever happens, we all meet up back here in Sterling city; in three months time. We do not know how long it will take to convince the other heroes but we mustn’t exceed three months. Hopefully, we will all come back with an army on our side

Dr Smart: Well, we speedsters as well as Ali, don’t need a ride to go to our various locations…but because Aeres, Presh and Joey can not transport themselves like we can, I have three private Jets we can use. Ali and Hafsat will just use Ali’s portal

Presh: Aeres, what about your work in the Police department? And let’s not forget that you are now the Mayor, Joey..

Aeres: I will take a leave before we leave

Joey: And I am sure no one would really miss me if I go missing for a while. I will let everyone know later on the news that I will be on vacation or something. The threat we face now is more important and we have limited time. So we need to go ahead with this plan!

Hafsat: Okay then….I will just call Senju and inform him on what we have decided. I will also let him know that I won’t be coming back soon so he should continue watching over Gratz city. I will also tell him to ready his army for the next three months

Kayleb: We all go home now and rest up. Tomorrow is a Friday…we can all give our excuses and meet up back here in Smart’s Lab by 12:00PM sharp. We leave afterwards to our respective journeys

Aeres: Don’t worry Hafsat, you can stay over at my place till tomorrow

Hafsat: Thank you Aeres. Let me just quickly change out of my suit and call Senju. We can then leave afterwards

Aeres: Sounds good

Hafsat then left the room to do what she said she’d do. Dr Smart looked up at the remaining team members and saw that they were all in a state of unease;

Dr Smart: I understand what y’all are going through right now but at this point, there is no other way. We have to go through with this plan!

TeeKay: Dr Smat is right guys! We can’t let the people we love; get caught up in a war…if there is any chance we can prevent that from happening, then I say we take that chance. So don’t worry, we will all be fine!

The rest of the team then felt a bit at ease and calmed down a little. After a while, Ali broke the silence by saying;

Ali: So it’s settled then…..Team QuickBae splits up here!
