QuickBae - Chapter 24

In Ralphz City, two men are seen in a famous Coffee Shop having what seemed like a secret discussion. After a while, one of the guys spoke up;

Joey: It’s been two weeks since we arrived here Smart and we still have no clues on where to find our supposed hero

Dr Smart: Yeah. I guess the hero of this city really wants her identity to remain a secret

Joey: I just wish Ali had given us a more precise location on where this “Enchanted hero” could be

Dr Smart: Enchanted?

Joey: Yeah. I mean, she is a hero who can use magic, right?! Not that it makes any sense to me though

Dr Smart: Yeah that’s right. The last time I spoke to Ali telepathically, he told me that he was only able to pick up her energy source briefly but she managed to mask herself because she noticed someone had located her. That’s why he couldn’t give us a specific coordinate

Joey: That might mean that there’s a chance she might not even be in this city….

Dr Smart: No, she has to be here. I mean, she cannot abandon her citizens just because she has been discovered

Joey: At the very least, I’m glad that Aeres and Kayleb are progressing with the plan. Atleast, they are getting things done…unlike us

Dr Smart: Yeah. Ali told me that their pilot returned about two weeks ago; that it was Kayleb and Aeres that instructed him to do so. Ali then used his abilities to communicate with them and he found out how Kayleb and Aeres were! Apparently, they are training with the king of Atlanta City and gathering an army

Joey: And that’s why I said they are getting things done atleast. As for us, we are still in square one. I mean, ever since we came here we haven’t even encountered this so called famous magical hero that keeps the citizens around here safe

Dr Smart: Yeah! You are right. At this rate, we mighty never complete our task before the time we agreed on elapses

Joey: Well at the very least, I’m glad we sent our pilot back too as well. We’ll just call him to come get us when we are through, right?

Dr Smart: That’s the plan

The two gentlemen then continued sipping their coffees. After that, Dr Smart and Joey intended on heading back to the hotel they booked and continue their search for the Enchanted hero the following day, since it was already getting late and they still had no clue from their search so far as to where to find her. But as the two were about leaving the coffee shop, a crime finally occurred for the first time since the two arrived in the city. A sorcerer broke into the coffee shop demanding ransome from the shop owner; threatening the lives of the citizens in the shop. Dr Smart was about stopping the whole crime from occurring when he was stopped by Joey and asked to wait a bit; hoping that the Enchanted hero would arrive. He added that this might be the chance they’ve been waiting for…..

“The Enchanted hero”; that was what people referred to the fierce woman who kept Ralphz City safe from criminals that had the abilities similar to herself. The police force usually dealt with other crime related issues except when it involved Warlocks, Wizards, Witches or Fairies. Wizards were normally referred to people who had the ability to do Magic, of course the male one’s. And as for witches, it was referred to females who could use magic. Warlocks are higher wizards or witches with greater magic potential and experience. It was usually given to those who are being promoted to that position based on their magic’s increment in power and durability. That position isn’t gender specific so either a male or a female could be referred to as Warlocks. These categories of people were referred to as sorcerers and not a single one of them was good news if they are branded criminals. In Ralphz City; unlike Sterling city, the people there had only Magic…which was a source of pure energy that can be manipulated and used second nature to achieve people’s wants. Rumor had it that it was a curse placed on one of the founding fathers of Ralph city who passed on the traits to his future generation. Unfortunately, not everyone wanted to use that ability for good. But Faries are a different case….they do not fit in the category of Sorcerers. They were only rare people who had the traits of being fairies and they were known to be the strongest; even more powerful than sorcerers. Although, they shared one thing in common with sorcerers and that was Magic. But fairies were a different extension of their being. A fairy sprouts out wings and their magic is more potent than that of sorcerers. They were also scarily strong. Atleast, thats the story Joey and Dr Smart had heard from the rumors of Ralphz City. And also, they heard that there was a fairy living there; the Enchanted Hero

Even after getting the ransome he demanded, the Warlock still tried to ȧssassinate the citizens in the shop. Dr Smart could no longer sit back and watch. He was about using his speed to stop the Warlock when all of a sudden, a bright light shimmered into the shop and instantly stopped the warlock. The Warlock was almost immediately put out of commission. The light then dulled a bit and a beautiful form was obvious. It was a beautiful Fairy with dark long black hair and dark blue eyes. She had a purple suit on and a mask which covered her face halfway through. It was the Enchanted Hero. After stopping the Warlock, the Enchanted hero used her magic to teleport the criminal into Ralphz City’s own special detention zone for sorcerers. People applauded the hero but she didn’t seem interested. She just ȧssured the citizens that everything was okay and set to leave.

The hero then sprouted out her long shimmering wings and flew off; out of the building at a very swift motion. But as she left the building and soared the night sky, she noticed a trail of lightning following her on land. She tried losing the stalker but came to the realisation that she couldn’t ditch what was pursing her. She then decided to face the person. The fairy landed in an abandoned district land and waited for the trail. In no time, Dr Smart halted with Joey; close to her

Joey: (Feeling sick) If you are gonna just take off with me next time how about a heads up?!

Dr Smart: Sorry, but we couldn’t afford to lose her under any circumstance

The Enchanted Hero: Why are you two following me?

Joey didn’t notice at first but then, after he heard the voice of the woman who spoke, he raised his head and looked her in the eyes. Yeah the mask did a very good job in concealing her identity but he was able to see through it. Joey knew pretty damn well who the fairy was. Joey then broke into tears

Joey: So it’s you! After all this time

Dr Smart: What Joey? Do you know her….and why are you crying?!

Joey: Yeah. I know very well who this woman is

Joey: I’d like to say the feeling is mutual but apparently it’s not

Dr Smart: Okay what’s going on here?!

Joey: I’ll tell you what’s going on…Meet Isabel; the Fairy Hero and also, Aeres’s mother

Dr Smart was really astonished to have figured out this truth. He didn’t know what to say afterwards. Joey then spoke up;

Joey: Why did you leave us? Do you know how many times our daughter have asked for her mother?

Isabel: I understand you are hurting Joey and I get it…..

Joey: (Interrupting) No you don’t get it. You can never get what I went through after you left. I loved you!

Isabel: I understand you are upset but here isn’t the place we should be talking about this. I suggest we head back to my base and talk! The walls have ears afterall. Please, come with me; both of you

The Fairy then sprouted her wings again and took off. Dr Smart then grabbed Joey one more time and followed Isabel. The two kept following the Fairy to a place deep within the woods of the city and into a tunnel that led to an underground base facility. It was like the bat cave commonly known in the series Batman; but this base was better. It suited the home of a fairy although it was completely abandoned. It was just the Fairy Hero that lived there. After arriving in the base, Isabel changed from her Hero Suit and wore a beautiful gown that made her look like royalty. She was indeed extremely beautiful without the mask. And with a snap of her fingers, a feast appeared in the dining room. She then offered Joey and Dr Smart dinner;

Isabel: I believe we haven’t formally been introduced. I’m Isabel East, pŀėȧsurė to meet your acquaintance

Dr Smart: I am Dr Smart Wilson. I’m sorry, did you just say Isabel East?

Isabel: Of course. I’m still married to Joey after all

Dr Smart: Wow! Then why haven’t we heard from you before?

Joey: (Angrily) That’s because she left!

Isabel: Oh come on sweetheart, you know I had to leave

Joey: We could have sorted things out…and don’t call me sweetheart. I’m not a child you know!

Isabel: (Now raising her voice) Then stop acting like one!

Dr Smart: (Talking to Joey softly) Calm down Joey. You know we need her help!

Dr Smart: It’s okay. Actually, we came here to this city to look for you. You see…

Isabel: You don’t need to explain anything….I know about the war. And I’m willing to offer my ȧssistance

Dr Smart: Wow that’s great! But wait, how did you know about the war?

Isabel: We are very close allies to the people of Atlanta City. The king informed me about it after my daughter and the hero; QuickBae arrived in their home

Joey: So it must mean that you knew we have been looking for you all this while and you didn’t bother showing up to us?!

Isabel: I had no idea you were in Ralphz City..

Joey: Oh come on, that’s bullshit. You just didn’t want to face us or rather, face me! Am I right?…..Very typical of you by the way. It just proves the kind of coward you are!

Dr Smart: Joey! Calm down

Isabel: No Dr Smart, he’s right! I wasn’t ready to face you guys until I realised I couldn’t ditch you both when you were chasing me

Isabel: Do you know the stories about sorcerers and Fairies?

Dr Smart: Yeah I heard rumours

Isabel: Well the rumors are true, except for some facts that were twisted. Fairies

are actually the cursed ones. A long time ago, the Mermaid Queen; Maddie, who was responsible for wiping out her entire people, spared a mermaid’s life. She was very fond of that mermaid. But since the mermaid was in cahoots with the others to kill her child, she decided to punish her with the worse punishment possible. And that was by making her the complete opposite of what she was.

Dr Smart: A human?

Isabel: No. A fairy! That’s the origin of the curse. Water and Air are completely opposites of each other. Thus, the first fairy was born and she went by the name Shana

Dr Smart: So that is the curse we heard about in the rumors?

Isabel: Yeah. After Shana was turned, she was banished from the seas and sent to a dark forest far away from the Pacific realms. Shana was pissed at the Queen for what she had done and vowed to get her revenge. But she never got it because the Queen died shortly after. You see, our magic’s source is from the mermaids. Their abilities can be considered magic, the only difference is that we sorcerers and fairies can manipulate that energy source of our powers and fulfil our hearts dėsɨrės using them.

Dr Smart: So that’s basically how you guys use magic….whatever you want, you can accomplish with the help of this energy the mermaid gave to the fairies

Dr Smart: Can fairies do that?

Isabel: Indeed. We fairies are able to give people the ability to use magic and pass it down to future generations but only in small proportions.

Dr Smart: I see!

Isabel: The first person Shana gave magic was one of the founding fathers of Ralphz City she met on her banishment. She corrupted the mind of this man into the life of evil and crime just because of the bitterness she had for Maddie. But Shana couldn’t keep up granting people magic. Eventually, she became weak from it and died gradually

Dr Smart: So that’s the repercussion of granting people magic?

Isabel: Exactly. Before Shana’s death, she had a child who had her exact traits. The young girl also sprouted wings like her mother unlike other sorcerers who were given magic. That was when we that had magic was classified into Fairies and Sorcerers. In time, the sorcerers also classified themselves depending on how far one had come in using his or her magic

Dr Smart: That means sorcerers are people that were given magic and only direct descendants of Shana, are the ones who became fairies?! Which means, you….

Isabel: Exactly. Although, it isn’t that often it happens. It only happens in rare cases

Dr Smart: But it still doesn’t explain why you left?

Isabel: I met Joey in Sterling City twenty three years back. Back then, he was just a young cop working in SCPD. We dated for a while and got married shortly after. Nine months later, I gave birth to our beautiful daughter; Aeres. But then, I realised that my magic was to dangerous…especially after birth

Dr Smart: What do you mean by that?

Isabel: Well after a fairy gives birth, her magic powers increases ten fold. And because of the curse that was placed on Shana, fairy’s magic was strong but at the same time, very lethal. If one doesn’t know how to control it, they might end up destroying everything around them. After I put to bed, the control I tried so hard to master finally became novice to me again. I was scared of hurting my family and that’s why I, I…..

Dr Smart: And that’s why you left!

Isabel: Exactly. Magic deals with a lot of emotion. So if a fairy feels too emotional, BOOM! Things can go wrong

Dr smart: That sounds bad. I understand now why you left

Joey: I still don’t. We could have worked things out you know

Isabel: Oh really Joey! We could have worked things out?! Tell me how? Or is it after I kill my loved ones that you’ll realise I was to dangerous to be around you and my lovely daughter. Or do you really think I wanted to abandon you both?! (Now crying gently)

Joey: I, I, I…

Dr Smart: (Interrupting) Just stop it Joey! That’s enough

Isabel: (Now wiping her tears) Sorry about that again. I tend to get a bit emotional sometimes. Luckily, I’ve mastered control now. If i hadn’t, things might have gone bad here

Dr Smart: So after leaving, you came here to master control?

Isabel: Yeah. This city is my hometown. I mastered control after leaving and came back here to be it’s protector. I also came back to stop the generation of sorcerers and fairies who under the influence of Shana, dedicated their lives to a life of crime

Dr Smart: And Aeres, do you think she’s a fairy too?

Isabel: I hope not. I left immediately after her birth

Joey: She hasn’t developed any signs as of yet, so i don’t think so

Dr Smart: But Isabel, you said that there are sorcerers and fairies here, right? Is there a chance that there are some who do not commit to a life of crime?!

Isabel: Yeah I guess. Although the fairies are extremely rare and I’ve only ever encountered one since I came to this city…my Aunt and rival. But I managed to stop her a long time ago from her life of crime. Not everyone in the family is all bad I guess

Dr Smart: So is there a way we can gather those with magic and have them join our force?

Isabel: It’s possible but most of them don’t use their abilities that much. The don’t have training nor experience. I usually do most of the saving in the city so they don’t have to use their abilities; atleast not all the time

Dr Smart: That’s why we are here. We will help with that!

Isabel: Well I did say I will help in this war but I will have to convince the citizens who have magic to join us. I mean, this is war we are talking about! I will also try and convince my close sorcerer allies to join us

Dr Smart: Yeah I agree. They need to know what they are getting into. Hopefully, they will all be willing to join us. We have just two months plus to prepare for this war. That aside, is this where you live, Isabel?

Isabel: Yeah and since we are joining forces, why don’t you both come live here with me. It would be easier for us to progress with our plans that way!

Joey: Don’t worry, we have….

Dr Smart: (Cutting Joey off) Yeah we would love too!

Joey: What!

Dr Smart: I know you are upset Joey but we have no choice. We are allies now. Besides, you and Isabel have a lot to catch up on don’t you think?!

Joey: Urgh….fine. We’ll move in tomorrow but only because we have no choice. But don’t ȧssume for a moment I’ve forgiven you for abandoning us, Isabel!

Isabel: That’s fine, I understand. I will arrange rooms for you both before your arrival tomorrow. Then we start our mission immediately

Dr Smart: Sounds good. Thank you so much for the hospitality

Isabel: My pŀėȧsurė. Now, let’s continue eating dinner

Dr Smart: Sure!

The three then continued eating their meal and chatted a bit. Dr Smart was getting comfortable but it seems Joey couldn’t still let go of “the pain of the past!”
