QuickBae - Chapter 3

Team QuickBae was on a deserted field in a district close to Smart’s Laboratory. They had chosen that venue to test Kayleb’s super speed. After setting up the wires and systems to monitor his speed, QuickBae was ready for his test run. Kayleb was told to start at a specific point on the circular track and run. Dashing with the speed of light, Kayleb ran past the track and made 3600 rotations in one second. He then came to a halt after running for thirty minutes;

Kayleb: So, how did I do?

Presh: (Looking at the system) Incredible! You just ran 3600 rotations in one second for thirty minutes straight and you don’t even seem tired at all

Kayleb: Nope, in fact I feel like running another thirty more minutes

Dr Smart: Let’s not get carried away. It seems to me that since you were the closest to the Mercury Oven and absorbed much intense energy which resulted to you insane speed, you don’t

really have a source of your abilities like the other super humans

Kayleb: I don’t understand what you are trying to say

Ali: What he means is; unlike the other super humans whose ability comes from a certain source, you are a living embodiment of your own ability. We also realized that when you run, your entire cells move at a very high frequency and velocity which directly discharges small sparks of energy from your body

Kayleb: No wonder sparks comes out of my body when I run

Presh: Yes and we believe that if you try other things like compressing that spark for a certain period of time and then

release it, you can make a spark burst or do something cooler

Kayleb: That’s nice and all but I don’t think I need to learn how to do that. I mean you guys are already saying how good I am

Dr Smart: Don’t over estimate yourself. You don’t know what kind of foes you will have to face onwards

Kayleb: With all due respect, I was the closest to the machine that day and that means ideally, I should be the strongest super human, right?!

Ali: Still bro, you have got to train and enhance your skills

Kayleb: Don’t worry about that, what I am more interested in, is the suit you guys are making for me. How is it coming along?

Ali: Well it wasn’t easy, but we managed to pull it off. It is ready

Kayleb: Great. Now I say let’s pack up and head back to the lab so that I can test the suit out

Presh: If you insist

Team QuickBae then packed up their equipment’s and headed back to Smart’s lab. They got to the Lab Tech. department were the suit was made and showed it to Kayleb;

Kayleb: Whoa!

Kayleb: What do I think? {in a rhetorical manner} It is awesome! I especially love the color

Presh: Well Ali figured that since your favorite color is blue, we make the suit blue as well. The design, logo and Jacket was all Dr Smart’s idea and I just helped in attaching heart rate monitors in the suit to regulate your heart beat, so that it will

send a signal to us any time it beats faster if you are in trouble

Ali: I also attached wireless ear pods on the mask so that you will be able to communicate with us while you are out there busting criminals

Dr Smart: All signals will be sent to us here in the Lab, inside the IT room which will be our secret base for now. I am going to restrict employees from coming in here

Presh: Oh and before I forget, your suit is made of elastic properties and has a high resistance to heat which makes it inflammable

Kayleb: Guys, you don’t know how happy this makes me. I don’t even know what to say

Ali: (Jokily) well you can always pay us half of your monthly salary…..that should be a good “thanks”

Kayleb: (Laughing) never in your wildest dreams. So when do I get to test the suit?

Dr Smart: I guess you don’t have to wait for long. You have a mission as it is right now! I just got word from some of my

former employees in the engineering department down town. They said that a super human with the ability to turn invincible was spotted trying to steal an important document in Finance bank.

Actually, he is skilled ninja who was hired by rival bank officials, to steal the banking strategy documents of Finance bank. You

do know that Finance bank is the most successful bank in Sterling city so it is no surprise that other banks would want their banking strategy plans

Kayleb: So this Ninja misuses his abilities too like that anonymous person who burnt down that estate building last week?

Ali: Actually Night crawler, which is the name I have given the ninja, is for hire. The higher the price, the more advantage you get in using him for whatever purpose

Kayleb: So he is doing all this just for money? What a selfish man!

Dr Smart: Back to the mission. We researched on him and found out that he only operates at night and since he was

almost caught last time, I am sure he will be more careful from now on. I suspect he will strike again this night because he has already been paid to get the documents and I heard he doesn’t waste time in fulfilling the dėsɨrės of whoever paid him. Now Kayleb, you will hide at an opposite building of finance bank and wait for him to show up and then put a stop to his crimes

Kayleb: Roger that!

hands on what he was looking for {the documents} in the bank manager’s office but as he turned to leave, there stood

QuickBae in his blue suit and leather jacket, a logo on his ċhėst which represented courage, white shoes and gloves and a mask which fitted his face that brought out his blue piercing eyes;

Night crawler: Ah, I suppose you are the new hero they call QuickBae, right!

QuickBae: So you have heard about me?!

Night crawler: Who hasn’t? Let me guess, you are here to stop me

QuickBae: Indeed I am

Night crawler: (Sarcastically) I guess I have no choice but to surrender then

QuickBae: Come on, you are not fooling anyone with that fake expression of yours

Night crawler: (Smirking as he put the bank strategy documents in his ninja pouch) you are right

Night crawler then threw three kunai’s (a ninja blade) at QuickBae but he dodged them all. Before QuickBae could comprehend what was happening, night crawler had disappeared. Suddenly QuickBae started receiving punches and

cuts from the invincible ninja all over his body. The ninja was so stealthy that QuickBae could not detect where he was attacking from. This resulted to serious injuries on QuickBae;

Night crawler: You might have super speed but you cannot fight what you can’t see. The night the mercury oven exploded and sent a wave throughout the city, I was as usual doing my night training on an abandoned road when suddenly a car came out of nowhere at high speed and almost crushed me. But before the car could hit me, the wave hit me first. The car’s light was shining at me so the element of light got fused with the ISEC in my immune system. Do you know with light, we can influence what other people see. With that same light, I am able to camouflage with the environment…….that is, anywhere there is actual light; even in the dark. I thought I was going to die that night but then my ninja skills improved as well and stealthily I escaped from the car. I realized my abilities shortly afterwards and thanks to Dr Smart’s conference on explaining the changes we super humans were experiencing back then when the mercury oven exploded, it was easier to understand what was going on with me and how to improve them with the phenomena of Science. I then chose a new path for myself

QuickBae: And you think this path is the right one?

Night crawler: It doesn’t matter what I think. I have been living in abject poverty all my life. All I had back then was my ninja skills which I used for entertainment that got me food on the table. So tell me, why should I go back to how things used to be when I have this insane new ability?

QuickBae: (In pain as the ninja was still attacking undetected) you don’t have to be this way. You and I are similar, we are

both extraordinary. You can choose the right path if you want

Night Crawler: I have already chosen the path I want

Night crawler increased his attacks on QuickBae and even though Kayleb tried as much as possible to dodge them,

he still got hit from other multiple attacks the ninja threw at him elsewhere. QuickBae not knowing what to do, was then spoken to through his ear pods by Dr Smart;

Kayleb: But I can’t see his attacks, how am I supposed to stop him?

Dr Smart: If you can’t see his attacks then feel them. You move with the speed of light. Every weapon he throws at you moves at a certain velocity and speed. You are full of energy so feel the energy he uses to launch his attacks. That should be able to help you detect him. Now do it QuickBae, feel the energy!

QuickBae took Dr Smart’s idea and felt where each attack was launched from using energy; he was able to detect the invincible ninja. QuickBae then ran swiftly behind the ninja and hit him on a vital spot which made him unconscious. The police then rushed in afterwards and witnessed how QuickBae had stopped the criminal they were after. They then retrieved the documents from the unconscious ninja;

QuickBae: He is all yours officers

Joey: My name is Detective Joey East and I thank you, QuickBae for helping us catch this criminal. My team and I have been

after him for a while now but because of his abilities, he hasn’t been easy to capture

QuickBae: Anytime detective. You guys should try to handle what you can and I will also help with the criminals that are like me

Joey: Then I look forward to working with you

QuickBae: Quick question though, what are you going to do with him?

Joey: The government has made special cells for detaining criminals like him. These cells suppresses super human abilities. He won’t be going anywhere anytime soon

QuickBae: Very well then, I trust you will handle this efficiently

QuickBae then dashed out of the building and headed back to the lab;

Ali: Another mission completed successfully

Kayleb: (changing quickly from his suit) Yeah but that was a close one. Dr Smart was right; I have so much to learn for I am still inexperienced. I promise I would listen more to you next time Dr Smart and thank you for your help out there

Dr Smart: Just glad I could help.
