QuickBae - Chapter 5

Team QuickBae were in their usual deserted district area close to Smart’s lab one quiet morning for Kayleb’s training. He was learning how to perfect a new move;

Dr Smart: (Speaking to Kayleb who was on the field through his ear pods) it’s just like I said, move your body in different

specific places and spaces and try to maintain a constant body form to look like you are cloning yourself. Then spin your body simultaneously to make an instant vortex; therefore doing the “speed mirage leap”

QuickBae: Affirmative. Here I go!

QuickBae then started to do what he was told but kept missing it at the spinning part. But he was determined to get the move right so as to prevent him from ever using his spark burst again. Also this move was a harmless one; it’s serves as a means of distraction to prevent the enemy from comprehending what Kayleb would do next. As Kayleb persistently continued trying to grasp this new move, Ali spoke to Dr Smart;

Ali: I guess he is determined never to use the spark burst again huh!

Dr Smart: Knowing Kayleb, he feels guilty for hurting that Topian the last time he used that skill. So it is only natural he

would want to learn this move eagerly

Presh: (monitoring Kayleb’s speed from a monitor) Still the way Kayleb’s body is able to handle this speed is incredible. Also I have been meaning to ask you Dr Smart, how are you able to come up with such techniques for Kayleb to learn even though you are not a speedster yourself?

Dr Smart: Well, Kayleb’s phenomenon is basically a Physics concept and Physics is my forte

Ali: But I thought you studied engineering?

Dr Smart: Precisely. After the mercury oven exploded, people had questions on how they are able to use such abilities. So, I used Physics on the news to explain this manifestation in people that time

Ali: Yeah I remember! You also took full responsibility for my mistake and that cost you people’s trust. Not to mention that most of your employee’s resigned; especially the Engineers and Computer

scientists

Dr Smart: Stop worrying about that Ali, I have told you so many times that it’s alright. Besides, I still have Physicians and Scientists working for me; not to mention the fact that you and I both have skills in Lab Technology, we are all Computer literates and I am an engineer. So I think we can handle the tasks of the vacant employee’s. At least, that is all Team QuickBae needs right now

Kayleb: (Halting next to the rest of the team) Guys, I still can’t master this technique

Dr Smart: Give it time, you will grasp it

Just then, signals sending notifications were sent to Dr Smart’s electronic wristwatch regarding another attack in the city;

Dr Smart: Kayleb, seems there is trouble in Flower Avenue down town

Kayleb: Okay, you guys head back to base while I go and stop these…

Ali: (cutting in) Human dynamo’s {a highly energetic and indefatigable person}. I mean, we can’t exactly call them Super humans anymore because there are actual Super humans from Topia

Kayleb: Right! Well I am off

QuickBae then instantly got into his suit and ran off to Flower Avenue. When he got there, he was surprised to see four human dynamo’s instead of one, working together;

QuickBae: Who are you guys?

QuickBae: You haven’t given an answer to my question yet

The Leader: Well we are the Fiersome Foursome and we are here to put a stop to you permanently, QuickBae!

QuickBae: Okay first of all, Wow! What a lame name that is and secondly, what makes you think you can stop me “permanently”?

The Leader: Whether you choose to believe it or not be entirely up to you. We have said all that we need to say

As the Leader of the Super dynamo finished talking, QuickBae didn’t realize when one of the dynamo’s {with water abilities in water form} covered QuickBae completely making him unable to breath.

”She is fast” QuickBae thought in his mind as he was finding it difficult to breath.

QuickBae then generated sparks from his body which seemed to affect her, thereby making her let go of QuickBae. The leader then immediately started shooting out flames from his hands with the intent of hitting QuickBae. QuickBae dodged all the attacks but noticed that all what his flames had touched, burnt down to a crisp instantly. The attacks were also very swift so QuickBae had to be extremely careful in dodging them. The team work displayed by the four was marvelous as they all threw their attacks towards QuickBae at once. One of the dynamos with the ability to move rocks, then launched a heavy boulder he raised from the ground at QuickBae which got him on the right arm as he was distracted; dodging the other attacks. Immediately the last dynamo with wind abilities then pushed QuickBae with strong forces of air, off his feets until he dropped. Injured and still cornered was QuickBae who lied on the floor as the Fiersome Foursome moved closer to him with the intent of finishing him off;

Dr Smart: (speaking to QuickBae through his pods as they monitored from their base that Kayleb was in trouble) do the speed mirage leap

QuickBae: (responding softly) But I haven’t mastered it yet

Dr Smart: You’ve got no other choice so just do it

QuickBae: Okay!

QuickBae then started running swiftly at different specific spaces and successfully made the speed mirage which confused

the Fiersome Foursome and with the leap {spin} he was able to send a vortex at the four {that occupied them for a moment}

which gave him a chance of escaping. As the vortex cleared, two out of the Fiersome Foursome intended on going after QuickBae but was stopped by the leader claiming that they would get him next time. Meanwhile as Kayleb got back to base, Team QuickBae was already working on a strategy to defeat the Fiersome Foursome;

Ali: Listen up you guys! I ran a scan in Sterling City hospital’s database where they keep records of all the human dynamos that were admitted there due to the mercury oven exploding and found out the real names of all the members in the

Fiersome Foursome group. It turns out that all four of them were admitted in that hospital the night it all happened. Now their leader with fire ability used to be a building project manager by the name Jack Freeman. He was working on a building project the night the mercury oven exploded when the building suddenly caught fire. One of Jack’s employee was stuck inside the building and Jack risked his life in order to rescue the employee. He saved his employee but didn’t make it out of the building in time. That was when the wave hit him, fusing the flames and the ISEC in his immune system. Now he is able to shoot and control flames at will. The woman with the water abilities used to be a naval officer by the name of Sargent Mia Tony. She was drowning in one of her missions when the wave hit her, fusing the water molecules and ISEC in her system

allowing her liquefy herself, attaining a water form and also move water at will. The third guy whose name is Johnny

Anthony with rock abilities was hiking when he witnessed Smart’s lab exploding and sending the wave into the atmosphere. He tried to rush back down and take cover but he mistakenly missed his step, tumbled and got hit with the wave fusing some rock particles and of course the ISEC in his immune system giving him the ability to use rocks. And lastly, Tess Morgan who was a scientist like us; was working on an experiment that night, trying to figure out the oxygen content in oxygen masks when the wave hit her, fusing the ISEC and the oxygen from the oxygen mask in her system. This reaction also turned her skin blue

Kayleb: I don’t get it. All these people seem to be good people from the start and not criminals. So why are they now

Ali: We also don’t know the reason behind their motive

Dr Smart: Now that we have figured out their abilities, we need to find their weaknesses as well so that we can put a stop to them once and for all

Presh: I think I have figured out that part while watching Kayleb from the monitor. Now I noticed that as Kayleb was fighting them, it took the leader a certain interval of time before he fired his next shot. My guess is; he doesn’t want to overdo it and heat up himself. Which means, he doesn’t want to lose control and end up dying. The girl with the water abilities can’s use it until she has water around her. Also when she trapped Kayleb in her water form, she was affected by him when he started generating sparks from his body

Kayleb: Yeah, I noticed that too

Presh: Which means, she is affected by electric current in that form. Now the rock guy only used his hands to move the rocks; if we can put him on cuffs or something, then I am sure he

would be defenseless. Lastly, the wind girl; my theory is, she is able to control wind because we are surrounded by

oxygen. If we find a way to temporarily suspend the oxygen molecules around her, she wouldn’t be able to use her abilities

Dr Smart: If that is the case, I am coming with you next time you face them Kayleb. I happen to have gadgets {made by Dr Smart himself} like a gun that shoots out metallic cuffs to detain the rock guy’s hands and a vacuum orb which when activated; can suspend the oxygen molecules around the wind girl. You can

then handle the fire guy and the water girl

Ali: Looks like you don’t have to wait for long to face the Fiersome Foursome again (realising the beeping notification sound on their monitor); they are now in Blake Street terrorizing the people there

Kayleb: That is close to Lukman’s coffee shop. Dr Smart, let’s get going

Dr Smart: But you haven’t fully recovered from your injury

Kayleb: Don’t worry about me, I am fine. Now come on, we need to go!

Presh: Wait! I am coming with, not Dr Smart

Dr Smart: What!

Presh: You are no doubt the one who made the gears that you guys are willing to use against them but you also taught me and Ali how to use these gears. So please Dr Smart, allow me to go with Kayleb

Ali: Presh, it’s too dangerous. You don’t have to……

Dr Smart: (Interrupting Ali) actually, she is right. Sometimes you just have to trust your employees to make the right decisions. So I will allow you to go with Kayleb Presh but you have to be careful

Kayleb: Very well then, let’s get going Presh

Presh: Sure!

QuickBae then suited up and Presh got the gears and a hoodie which concealed most of her face to hide her identity. With his super speed, QuickBae got both him and Presh to Blake Street. Presh then took cover immediately while QuickBae confronted the four. Afterwards, they started fighting again. The Fiersome Foursome started cornering QuickBae yet again and was about to strike him when Presh accurately shot the cuffs which enclosed the hands of the guy with rock abilities; preventing him

from using them. The remaining three were distracted as they noticed Presh hiding behind a car close to where they fought. QuickBae then took the opportunity to separate the leader from the rest as he grabbed him and threw him at the other end of the street with super speed. Presh then activated the vacuum orb and threw it which rolled down to the wind girl, and prevented her from using her abilities. QuickBae then came back instantly and knocked her out. QuickBae was about to electrocute the girl with water abilities when water started surrounding and drowning him. She was moving the water she had gathered from the nearby opened tanks in the street. QuickBae was stuck and could not escape from the situation he was in because this time, the water girl was smart enough not to use herself as water to trap QuickBae again. Mia almost succeeded in ending QuickBae when suddenly; she turned into ice which stopped the water from wrapping QuickBae. After breathing in fresh air, QuickBae noticed that Presh’s hair had turned blue and her eyes as well. It was Presh who had saved him from drowning by shooting Mia with ice from her hands. But before Kayleb could ask Presh any question, Jack had already reached their location and trapped Kayleb in a ring of inescapable flames, released Johnny by melting the cuffs; who carried Tess {unconscious} with frozen Mia, and abducted Presh.. By the time the flames went down, Presh was gone and so was the Fiersome Foursome.
