Re: Apocalypse Game - Chapter 201 Retreat
201 Retreat
The combined firepower of Alan, Merle, Rose, Vicky, Daniel, and the two knights, Percival and Dagonet, unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks, dealing a total of 350 damage per second to the Abomination. Despite the creature’s attempts to dodge and block their strikes with its massive mace, it couldn’t withstand the onslaught. After a minute of intense combat and a combination of 10 strikes, the giant finally roared in pain and collapsed, shaking the garrison floor.

Even though it was a shared kill, the rewards were still substantial. Alan even heard that Daniel received a chest as a reward for the kill.
As the giant met its demise, the elderly Thai general successfully made his way out of the tower. Unfortunately, Alan’s element of surprise had been lost, as most of the undead— including the ghouls that revived from fallen Thai players—had turned their attention towards Alan’s group.
Alan approached the old general, a sense of urgency in his voice, and respectfully stated, “General, with all due respect, please give the order to retreat. We need to regroup and find a more defensible position.”
With a nod of agreement from the old general, Singdal, one of the Thai unit captains, swiftly retrieved a firework from his pack. He ignited it and launched it into the night sky, creating a burst of colorful sparks that illuminated the battlefield. This predetermined signal was the agreed-upon sign for a full retreat.
However, this vibrant display also had unintended consequences. It not only signaled the beginning of their withdrawal but also attracted the attention of the remaining undead horde, including the second Abomination, which still had half of its HP remaining. The situation grew even more precarious as the relentless horde closed in on them.
“Move out! Move out!!”
Alan’s voice rang out, commanding his team to retreat while they covered the rear. However, the second Abomination, now free from its previous distraction, was on the rampage once again. It utilized a special skill to shatter the walls that separated them, effectively blocking their escape route.
A ranking officer from the Thai military joined the fray, shouting orders to protect the general. He was accompanied by half a dozen uniformed players armed with long pikes, all charging forward in an attempt to stab the ten-meter Abomination and halt its advance. Despite their efforts, the giant proved too formidable, breaking the metal pikes and tossing some of the brave soldiers into the nearby walls.
The creature’s next target was the elderly general himself. The man, in his late forties, stood bravely with his gun, firing shots at the monstrous foe in a futile attempt to stop its relentless advance. In a devastating move, the Abomination swung its massive mace, and with a single blow, it crushed the general, ending his valiant stand.
“General!!”
A chorus of anguished cries and shouts filled the air as players witnessed the tragic loss of their general. In a rage, Singdal the martial artist activated his [Warrior Spirit], and combined it with a special hand-to-hand active skill that boosted his strength and agility for a few precious seconds.
“Charng mun!!” Singdal cursed before he leaped and executed a powerful kick, one that could swing the giant towards the wall. He managed to land two more combo kicks in the air forcing the giant back in anger.
However, as Singdal landed on the ground, the giant’s enormous hand captured him in its vice-like grip.
“Singdal!!” Alan shouted. He dashed forward, using his [Lunge Strike] with all his might. But by the time Alan reached the Abomination, Singdal was already being mercilessly smashed into the ground.
“LET HIM GO!!” Alan roared. With sheer determination, Alan unleashed his [Power Strike] with all his might, targeting the giant’s arm. The powerful strike resulted in a deep, bleeding gash, forcing the Abomination to release Singdal from its grip.
In retaliation, the giant swung its massive mace towards Alan, but with lightning speed, he executed his [Shadow Strike], disappearing from sight and reappearing behind the colossal creature. Gripping his [Ringwraith Sword], Alan initiated a devastating series of attacks, utilizing his [Blade Frenzy] skill.
Three strikes, five strikes, eight strikes!
Alan unleashed eight rapid strikes in just two seconds, unleashing a flurry of blows upon the giant’s back taking 500 damage and laying down the cursed mark. The creature roared in agony as the relentless assault took its toll. Realizing the danger, Alan leaped back to evade the giant’s furious retaliation.
The death of the general crushed the Thailand player’s spirit and held their advance. Despite being wounded, Singdal displayed incredible courage and took charge of the situation, rallying the remaining survivors.
“We cannot give up here!! We must Survive!!” Singdal shouted with unwavering determination, inspiring hope in the hearts of those who remained.
With the shrieking undead hordes and the enraged giant closing in, Alan swiftly took command and devised a strategic plan. He barked out orders to the group, “Kite them back!!”
This tactical decision was crucial to maintain order, prevent panic, and minimize casualties. It was also the most effective way to deal with the giant, given its low agility. Alan directed the Thai pike soldiers to form a barrier at the front, obstructing the giant’s advance. Meanwhile, players armed with ranged weapons continued to pelt the colossal creature from a safe distance, all while taking slow, measured steps backward.
As they steadily retreated toward the rear entrance of the garrison and eventually exited into Roman territory, the giant’s HP had been significantly depleted. Their coordinated strategy had proven effective in dealing with the formidable adversary.

The battle had forced the group to move slowly toward the western walls. Only a little over 200 Thai players had managed to escape the chaos, along with Alan and his hundred fey warriors. However, the pursuing hordes were still hot on their heels, and the morning light was still a few hours away.
Their destination was the Cairo server garrison, and Alan could only hope that Egypt players would yield a better outcome than what had befallen the Bangkok server players.
