Re: Devil - Volume 1 Chapter 11
[Tower of Babel Floor 0 Area 3]
Alive: 9 Dead: 41
“Hmm there are still 9 living beings including me. Interesting… so getting out by clearing the minimum surviving condition counts as being dead. Anyway, let’s continue shall we?”
After resting for a bit, I stood up and continued to explore the corridor. I felt like I was walking around in a circle. All of the corridors were the same and there was only one path that I could take.
I tried to turn backwards however I only saw darkness. The only source of light from the torches was extinguished like the floor itself wanted me to press on forward and never turn back. Of course I was sane enough to not wanting to struggle in the darkness.
At this point, I was just hoping to find other living beings quickly regardless how strong or weak they were, killed them and returned to Hell.
[Now that I think about it, The war involves 3 forces, the angels, hellspawns and the race of the living according to Inpuji. Why do I only find other hellspawns?]
Thinking about it while walking, I found myself standing in front of a giant door. [Yep that’s right and it was like suddenly]. A giant door at the end of a corridor.
Some fragment of memories and also my instinct warned me to be prepare with what laid ahead beyond the door.
[Tower of Babel Floor 0 Area 3]
Alive: 5 Dead: 45
I was surprised to see that 4 more beings were killed while I was only walking without encountering enemies but that only lasted for a while.
Focusing on the giant door, I gulped and pushed the giant door.
A circular hall with torches that emitted blue flame to illuminate the darkness was what I saw. On the center of the circle I saw what my instinct was warning me towards.
A humanoid figure with a rusted armor was standing with it’s two hands resting on the hilt of it’s sword. It appeared to be a knight at first glance however after a closer look you could see flesh decaying and fell off from it’s face. As a result it’s bones were visible from the outside. It was standing still like a statue and was showing no signs if waking up.
Then I heard the sound of 3 more doors opening.
3 doors were opened from my north, east, and west side respectively.
First figure that appeared was ,you guessed it, a Greater Goblin but unlike the Greater Goblin that I had killed previously, I could feel that this goblin was more stronger and had more experiences. It was holding two daggers and tribal tatoos could be seen on it’s body.
Second figure was a humanoid figure again but this time with a proper leather armor and a sword. I used my [Insight] towards the figure.

[Finally a human! what Inpuji had talked about. Unfortunately this battlefield is a scam! I could not eat the corpse. But on the side note, [Lesser Swordmanship] is a really good skill to have. Too bad.]
Feeling disappointed and regretful that I could not devour the human, I turned towards the final figure that went out from the last door.

[This will be very troublesome if he can continuously use [Lesser Heal] and really? Holy is the band of all Hellspawns?! tch…]
The 3 doors closed and the monster that was in the middle of the room was moving.
Blue fiery eyes ignited in it’s eyes or should I say what’s left from his eyes. It’s bones were rattling and I heard it’s hoarse voice.
“Klak klak Finally … All of you are here … now I can kill all of you … Don’t be a disappoinment like the previous 4 … For the glory of marquess Leraje!”
I quickly used [Insight] on it.

But now I more or less know the structure of this floor, at least my previous question was answered. There was only a path that would lead to this place here. Then bloodbath and slaughter would occur here. F*ck this tower and it was still the 0 Floor. How many areas were there.
The squire immediately made an eye contact with the acolyte.
Squire A: “Brother, How about we team up to deal with all of these monsters? How do you say?”
Acolyte A: “Let us cleanse this world from all of evils. Bless me My Lord.”
They soon made a tacit agreement among themselves. I turned my glance to the goblin and I facepalmed. The goblin was a battle maniac. I could see that it was excited to finally find a very strong opponent that it could face. It’s grin told me so.
My first battle royale… The best way was that all of them fought among themselves and I would just be a nobody’s imp problem however just as the goblin wanted to charge at the Rusted Undead Knight it’s nose smelled me.
“You … have a smell of scent of many goblin’s blood. How many did you kill?” It’s grin vanished and it’s eyes were looking towards me.
“Don’t know don’t care.” I replied.
The goblin was now taunted and I could see that knight was focusing with the pair of humans after seeing us would like to fight. This situation was also good.
Squire A: “We need to quickly kill this undead knight while the other demons are fightning among themselves.”
Acolyte A: “Agreed. I’ll provide support.”
[Good this works too. Now to concentrate on the goblin.]
“I shall avenge the blood of my clansmen that you had killed just like I had killed all of the imps.” It was enraged and now charged towards me with it’s dagger.
I blocked the dagger with my weapon but his second dagger quickly followed leaving me no time to think and to counterattack.
We quickly exchanged many clashes from our weapon. On the other side, The Rusted Undead Knight was fighting with the humans and I must say they were actually even with it. The acolyte was supporting the squire giving out heal and light damage while the squire was facing directly with the undead knight.
I could foresee that in the long run the rusted undead knight would be in a disadvantage facing these two humans if it didn’t do anything else. The humans were successful dealing damage to the undead knight but the knight had a fearsome strength to actually handle them.
I was a bit distracted looking at the undead knight that a dagger almost punctured my chest.
“Oops… Almost got me there.” I said.
“For the glory of marquess Leraje! [Undead Roar]!”
It let out a high-pitched, sharp roar, that you could literally feel terror and death in it’s cry.
The humans and the goblin were momentarily stunned.
Even I was momentarily affected and I was in a distance from him. I could not imagine what happened when I was in front of him but seeing this chance I quickly killed the goblin. Although it was fast and dangerous, in an essence it was still a goblin.
Now waiting for my chance to kill all of them in one sweep.
The undead knight slashed it’s sword at the squire. A deep wound and blood gushing out of his chest. The squire vomitted out blood. “Brother quickly heal me!”
The acolyte quickly chanted a spell and healed the squire. He knew that if the squire died he would face a hard time facing the undead knight.
I quickly took the chance to run towards the acolyte and stab him with my weapon.
“Watch out!” The acolyte was unprepared and my weapon dug deep into his chest. “My Lord … please … save … me”The acolyte fell down and black substances enveloped him and scattered leaving nothing behind.
Then I quickly went to the undead knight. The squire was heavily wounded so I could ignore him but the undead knight was still okay even though it had taken some wounds and a piece of it’s armor was broken.
I used [Lesser Speed Movement] and [Compound Eyes] to barrage the undead knight with attacks and this time I was very happy with my size because the knight was having a hard time defending my low height attack coupled with a sharp weapon I managed to slash and cut off it’s leg.
The undead fell on the ground and kneeled with one of his leg. “Hahaha this is fun!” [Is this my innate nature?]
“You Imp! I underestimate you!” It’s bones were rattling. Too bad it didn’t have any chance I used [Enhanced Shadow Claw] to deal the final blow. He defended for a moment with his sword but my claw easily pierced it and broke it and I stabbed it’s head.
“For the … glory … of ” The undead knight was dead and it’s essence scattered.
Then I saw the last living being and grinned. “What do you want imp! stay back!” I could see he was paralyzed in fear and heavily wounded. I didn’t know whether or not he could actually teleported but it seemed he could not think straight anymore.
Perfect, I wanted to taste the flesh of humans that Inpuji had said to be a delicacy. I cut up his arm that was holding a sword.
“Ahhhhhhhh!!!!” he screamed. I quickly ate the arm and it worked! “Ah~ this flesh was very delicious, intoxicating, a thousand times better than the imp and the maggot.”
Just as I was lost in the flavour, the squire remembered that he could go back and did so.
I roared “F.u.c.k!!! Such a shame!!!!”
[The battlefield has ended!]
