Re: Devil - Volume 1 Chapter 12
After killing all of the enemies, a series of notification blocks appeared before me.
[This battlefield has ended]
[Tower of Babel Floor 0 Area 3]
Alive:1 Dead:49
[Last living being: Hellspawn]
[Hell has won this area and will receive a portion of blessing from Babel. Glory to Hell!]
[Due to being the last living being that survived this ordeal, a portion of collected souls will be converted to essences (Hellspawn)]
Black essences appeared above me and dropped down on to me. I felt like I was being baptized and my strength was increasing. The process was not painful but blissful.
[Hell has granted you a bit of it’s authority]
A streak of black light flashed and dug into me. My eyes could not keep up with the light but my body didn’t seem to reject it. I could also feel myself getting a bit stronger.
I was very intrigued about the changes of my status. “[Status]!”
[Status]
Level 25 – No Name – Lesser Challenger
Species: Lesser Infernal Imp (Uncommon)
Unranked
Hell’s Authority Rank I: 4%
Skills
Enhanced Shadow Claw
Insight
Greater Fire Body
Lesser Skin Hardening
Compound Eyes
Lesser Speed Movement
Lesser Swordmanship
[Description]
Hell’s Authority Rank I: The lowest authority granted to a Hellspawn that has proven itself in the war against all other races. Increased stats by the third of this percentage. Example: 6% > 2% increased stats.
I was a bit dizzy in my head after too many notification sounds and a lot of reading. However, my [Status] really surprised me.
I had leveled up to level 25 that meant 17 level ups. I also had gotten Hell’s Authority and despite the fact that I didn’t get [Lesser Regeneration], [Lesser Swordmanship] would do. For now, I didn’t have any use it for though.
After I looked at my [Status] and was satisfied with my gains and more importantly not getting scamed, the same teleportation circle that transported me appeared under me and I would probably transported back to hell.
What Inpuji had said was true that war was very addicting. Everytime you survived, you would definitely get stronger.
The same black light that had teleported me enveloped me.
I opened my eyes. “I feel a bit dizzy… ugh … ”
[If I really have to experience this everytime I teleport … next time I probably will vomit… I really hope that I will gradually adapt or acquire the skill to cope with it].
I could see that Inpuji was standing beside me. “Hohoho I was right, you survived, weird imp.” Inpuji laughed. “Come follow me, I will explain when all of you survivors have gathered.”
I followed him until I found Olgur in the room and 4 imps including the big imp. The 2 imps that had the potential to evolve to a spellcaster type were also there.
I was surprised that I found out that Olgur was injured heavily, well his injury “looked” serious but I didn’t know whether or not he was really injured.
[Should I try to kill him? … Nope, I still like to live for a while].
“Oh it is you imp. Good gagaga so you both evolved imps have survived. Count Andromalius will be very pleased and you should be honored to you will meet him gagaga!” laughed Olgur.
After laughing for a while, his face turned solemn. “I really don’t know why the Count wants to see you all. You are all only imps and normally it is wasting the Count’s time if you are not at least a baron ranked demon.”
[Tch… That is troublesome and also weird. I could feel the gap between me and Olgur, the baron ranked demon, Although it is possible to kill him with many preparations, the costs will outweight the benefits.
but now I need to meet a demon that is stronger than viscount demon and borderline to marquess].
“We will wait for a while then I will take all of you to the Count. Just so you know, all 15 imps have been sacrificed Gagaga.” said Olgur.
[Well, nothing can be done anyway, might as well think how to get in the good grace of the Count, at least I am strong enough to survive as rogue demon or can flee from the Count].
We waited for a while… waiting for the survivors if there was any. Then Inpuji came back with 2 more imps behind his back.
“So Olgur, this are all the imp survivors from the first war. I must say this batch gives out extraordinary result, be it quality or quantity. I presume the Count must be waiting to check the new minions?” said Inpuji.
“Good” Olgur stood up and commanded us to follow him. We were walking deeper into the cave and I was thinking about my resting and evolution place [Wasn’t it just a dead end?]
We arrived at the large area in the cave and I saw someone that was standing before the cave wall.
“So Olgur, these imps are the survivors, huh?” A tall demon, taller than Olgur by a bit, with 2 slick horns protruding from his head and pointed ears was standing there.
Different from Olgur, he had white hair and grey skin. He was wearing a butler suit and appeared to be at first glance an amicable middle-aged man.
However, I could feel some sort of pressure greater than what Olgur had given to me before generating from this demon.
“Hoh? Interesting, I could sense 3 imps with an affinity with one of the elements, especially you.” He pointed his finger to me.
“You could sense me even though I am covering my pressure, don’t you?” I sweated a bit. [Wait do demons sweat at all? I feel like I have sweated a bit].
“Oops… Where are my manners. My name is Jakath, one of the Count’s general aside from Olgur and I am the one that set up the barrier around this cave.
I suggest that you all do not use [Inspect] on me or even the Count. I am still very forgiving but the Count? I would not do that if I were you. Besides, you can not see my [Status] anyway because I am a viscount ranked demon. Demons can only see the status of one rank above them…”
[That’s something new from me. Inpuji have not said anything about it].
“And … ” Olgur suddenly interrupted Jakath. “That’s enough Jakath! You always talk more than necessary! You imps, Behave yourself! I don’t care if you are all killed by the Count. Jakath teleport us there!”
“My my as impatient as ever Olgur. I don’t need to remind you that I am a rank higher than you or because of the war you … Erhm.” Olgur glared at him.
“Let me take you all now.” He snapped his finger and a big teleportation circle appeared under us.
I opened my eyes and looked around and I was surprised that we were in the exactly same area or it looked like the place before we had teleported.
[No wait, I don’t remember there is a door in front of me]. I saw a giant door with something like a seal? engraved on it.
“Behind this door is where you can meet the Count, behave yourself.” I could see that Jakath’s face turned serious this time unlike the first time I had met him. Some of the imps gulped.
The door opened and we went inside. It seemed to be like a throne room and standing on the altar was the a single person or should I say the so called Count Andromalius.
“Who allow you to stand? Kneel!” He released his pressure.
I took the full brunt of it and I could not last even 1 second before I kneeled on the floor. Even Olgur and Jakath were affected and kneeled also. [Argh… So this is an earl ranked demon].
“Please forgive us, my Lord, It will never happen again.” begged Jakath. “Hmph…” snorted the Count. Then the pressure dissipated. Aside from me, the big imp, and the 2 imps, the rest passed out.
“Eat the ones that passed out, my sweet pet.” I heard the sound of slithering coming from behind the Count. It slithered towards my direction and passed by me. After that, I heard chomping sound.
If I was not hallucinating, I was sure that was a big snake that went by me.
“You may raise your head.” commanded Andromalius. I looked up to see clearly, what the appearance of him was. He looked like a normal human. He was similar to the one that I had fought in the tower but his eyes were like a snake.
Suddenly his slit eyes contracted and I felt his piercing glance towards me. I felt bone-chilling terror and I was frozen in fear. I could not move at all. As if he was checking for something. Fortunately, it was only for a moment.
“Leave!” I didn’t if I was wrong or not but I thought that he sounded disappointed with something but who cares it was a good thing I could go back.
“Yes my Lord” Olgur & Jakath.
After we all left Andromalius’ room, back at his room.
A demon kneeled before Andromalius. “My Lord, it is unlike you to invite insignificant minions to your room. Is there any problem?” asked the demon.
“Salgruth, I perceived the aura of Heaven although it was faint in one of the minions’ caves before the war had started.” replied Andromalius.
“What?! Heaven is already interfering now?” The demon was surprised.
“Enough, you don’t need to know more. It was faint. Go check my territory if there was any sighting of Heaven’s residents or other unusual signs.”
“As you wish, my Lord!” The demon left.
“Was I wrong?” Andromalius muttered while caressing his pet snake which coiled around his body.
