“Wew” I sighed in relief when we were back at the cave, I had survived.

After leaving the Count’s room, I quickly collected myself and tried to keep calm. The other imps, actually now only the big imp and the 2 imps, were still shaken in fear due to the last piercing glare of the Count.

“Jakath, did you know something? It was very unlike the Count to summon us and to lash his anger towards us.” asked Olgur.

“Of course, I didn’t know what the Count was thinking about, however It seemed to me that he was inspecting about something.” replied Jakath as his hand was rubbing his chin.

Hearing the two general’s conversation, I was shocked to find out that glare was only for inspecting and not his actual pressure.

[So that was an earl ranked demon huh… I felt so weak. I don’t know what I am feeling now but I don’t like the feeling of… helplessness… ]

I gritted my teeth. [I could not even put up with his glare].

Suddenly my thoughts were interrupted when Jakath clapped his hand. “Ok Imps, wake up!”

The other imps snapped out from the fear and looked towards Jakath.

“I think you all know enough of the Count’s greatness. Now, Let me explain it to you all what you will be doing until the next war again which is 3 days from now and as short as possible.

Until you are a baron ranked demon, you are free to do whatever you want without any responsibilities but also without benefits. Of course, by the time you become a baron ranked demon I expect a wise decision due to your increased thinking capability.

[Joining or fleeing with your life on the line huh?]

I do not need to remind you that if you slack off, you will die sooner or later, no? Besides you will be forced to always participate in the war.

And one last thing, because you are no longer an inexperienced minion, you cannot stay in your original cave so I took the liberty to transport you all to your new dwelling. Feel free to explore, I insist! hohoho…

[Hah… Let me comprehend a bit all of the informations just now. First of all, the war or should I say the tower will summon me in 3 days. A very little time frame to rest, being a minion is really not easy.

Secondly, we are now somewhere but still inside the Count’s territory, just still in a cave. Why does Jakath insist on exploring… Wait!]

I looked around looking for my weapon and I realized [Argh! I forgot that I had left my weapon in the original cave and great I also didn’t know how to get there from this new place]

I facepalmed myself. [Well, I guess I just have to adapt again but first, checking out the surrounding, which reminds me]

I wanted to see how the other imps were doing and they were sleeping. Well, I couldn’t blame them as just after the war we had been summoned to meet the Count and he was very unhappy.

Seeing them sleeping, I was also getting tired and I was having trouble keeping my eyes open, [Damn it! The tension from maintaining constant alert during the war was released and now I am feeling fatigued]

I checked one last time before I closed my eyes and I fell into slumber. [Hopefully I am still alive … ]

Somewhere in Andromalius’ territory…

“This batch of newborn Hellspawns showed so much potential. I can’t wait for rebels to appear when they evolve to baron.” said Jakath as he licked his lips.

“You and your mouth… You always blabber something that you should not have! Don’t make them suspect something off later.” Olgur roared angrily.

“Calm down Olgur. Hah… My perception that barbarians are all brawns and no brains are broken because of you.

Relax. No one will escape my eyes. Furthermore don’t tell me that you are not tempted to feast on the rebel? It is the faster and safer way than going to war.” replied Jakath seriously.

“True… Hrmph ”

Back at the cave…

I opened my eyes and woke up. Before I stood up, I stared at the cave’s ceiling for a while.

[Let’s look at the bright side from yesterday, at least I can do whatever what I want for now. Time to explore and to hunt].

I stood up and saw that the imps were still sleeping. Did I only have a short sleep? My stomach grumbled. Probably because of that.

I walked towards the exit of the cave. It didn’t take a long time before I could see what was outside.

[It seems the place that I stay now can be called a small cave or rock shelter but a bit more deeper].

[The same barren and desolate land … My only clue, if I want to go back to the original cave, is that it was located somewhere in one of the volcanoes. But, this time I was transported to a place with many rocky cliffs and pieces of boulders scattered around].

I used [Compound Eyes] and increased my scope of sight, an additional benefits of using this skill. It was rather confusing at first seeing so many things at once but I got the hang of it after trying and adapting for some time.

Now, Let’s see what was different here and what made this place interesting as Jakath had said.

I engrave this area and something noteworthy in my mind to remind me how to go back and rest later. After that, I walked cautiously while exploring the area.

During the walk, occasionally I heard the sound of rocks falling or breaking or the ground quaking.

After some time, my [Compound Eyes] spotted something big. I sneaked towards it but carefully while also avoiding making some noises.

Then, I just a snake smaller than the one from the Count’s but a bit bigger than me. The snake was slithering around presumably looking for some food.

[I hope it is not one of the snakes that the Count’s have] Just to be sure, I used my [Insight].

Description: A newborn snake born in hell. The first evolution of almost every hell stronger snakes in existence. It’s bite contains high toxic and could potentially kill if not treated.

[Venom Bite]

Description: Snake bite that injected venom into the enemy’s body. High toxicity.

[After evolving [Inspect] to [Insight], more informations can be retrieved and it is much better than [Inspect] and more comfortable].

[Hmm… So it a hell beast but the newborn ones already have a rank, why does this snake has much better starting point than us imps and goblins]. I groaned internally.

[With caution and preparation, I should be able to kill the snake and devour it even though it is a quasi baron rank, it is not yet a baron].

Just as I had made my mind to kill it, I noticed a huge shadow flying and looming above me.

My instinct warned me to hide and so I did so. Fortunately, the environment supported me. I quickly hide under some rocks and made myself as inconspicuous as possible.

I was also preparing myself to use [Insight] to see what was the shadow, if possible.

A high pitched raspy screech sounded as the shadow dived into the ground and towards the snake. I could see it’s talons opened and pierced the snake’s body and gripped it tightly and flew back upwards directly.

The snake was struggling and flailed wildly trying to release itself but the beast paid it no heed and even strengthened it’s grip.

It was on air now and it was in a disadvantegous position. It tried using [Venom Bite] but the beast easily dodged it, even counterattacked it using it’s beak. Finally the struggling ceased and the beast flew away while holding the dead carcass.

[What was that?!!! Was my [Insight] successful?] I quickly looked at the result.

[Hell Vulture]

Description: An avian type hell beast that feasted on remains of other beasts and or demons also weaker prey than it is. It’s feathers are thick and strong enough and act as protective layer of armor as well as a mean to attack.

It happened so fast that even my [Compound Eyes] had trouble keeping up. The process of hunting was fast and by the time I managed to see a bit clearly of the hunter the snake had died. I snapped out from the shock and quickly checked again.

After making sure that it was safe again, I went out from my hiding spot and continue searching for prey but this time I also sometimes took notice of the sky.

Suddenly, the sound of fighting was heard. [Great, now what unexpected things that I will see… Hah].
