Re: Devil - Volume 1 Chapter 16
Today’s menu Hell Fire Lizardlings fresh caught in the wild. I licked my lips salivating at the taste of the lizards.

I managed to kill and devour 10 Hell Fire Lizardlings and as a result my stomach bloated and I could feel some heat inside my stomach but I found it interesting that it was not harmful at all.
I also needed to be thankful for the Hell Fire Lizardlings’ nature of always being in a group.
That was how I managed to get these many kills but unfortunately some lizardlings were successful enough to be able to flee and keep their lives.
Otherwise, I should be able to eat a few more. Naturally, during my attempts to kill some lizardlings, not all of them went well.
For the first few attempts, I didn’t have enough information about the lizardlings aside from what [Inspect] had given me nor did I know how they were behaving.
Many successfully fled away from me at first and I was one time almost being burned alive by volleys of [Fireball]s from a group of Hell Fire Lizardlings.
Oh, and did I mention that the lizardlings were cowardly in nature. When things were getting difficult or they sensed that they would be eaten, they would immediately run away.
I also found something interesting from one of the lizardlings that managed to escape from me. The status of the lizardling was something like this.
Level 64
Species: Hell Fire Lizardling

Skills
Fire Ball
Autotomy
[Autotomy]
Description: Amputate designated part from the body (able to choose) mainly to elude or evade from attacks. After using this skill, [Autotomy] will temporarily be changed into [Self Regeneration]
[Self Regeneration]
Description: Greatly increase regeneration ability to be able to even regrow limbs at the designated part from [Autotomy]. [Self Regeneration] will revert back to [Autotomy] when healing is done.
This was totally new for me to see a 2-in-1 skill and I was caught offguard when I was fighting a small group probably 2-3 lizardlings and the strongest cut off his own tail when I was grabbing it to avoid at least one of them escaping.
After seeing this skill, I was even more determined to hunt and devour these lizardlings.
And after few more attempts, I was starting to get the hang of it and finally managed to kill 10.
Unfortunately, I didn’t even manage to get a skill at all. It was a good thing that at least I managed to increase my affinity with fire otherwise I would be very frustated and cursed at my own luck.
Although, after thinking about it, if you seperated one lizardling from the group that one lizardling would definitely be very weak. I guessed considering it’s strength and the amount of essences that I needed, it was okay.

There weren’t many changes other than my level. But I noticed that there were not any changes or notification regarding my affinities in my [Status].
[Hmm… I think that I need to eat more lizardlings, my only guess is that it is like a skill and something may happen when my affinities with fire reach 100% at least].
I am now currently sitting inside a small opening under many rocks and boulders piling each other up.
Well I knew that it was not as good as the small cavern that I had found but at least it was near the lizardlings’ habitat and I didn’t need to run back and forth.
Other than meditating and resting, while waiting for the lizardlings to appear from underground to look for food, I was also training my skills preparing for the next floor in the Tower of Babel.
I felt that training was actually not the word that I was looking for, it was more like activating the same skill over and over again until either I felt tired or a group of lizardlings popped out somewhere.
I was especially focusing on [Lesser Skin Hardening] and [Lesser Speed Movement].
Both of these skills were a lifesaver and could be used as both on offence and defence. Morever these two were 100% upgradeable into [Greater].
I didn’t know if there were more tiers above [Greater] something skill nor what was the difference between [Greater] and [Enhanced].
Could [Enhanced] something skill be further upgraded? Either way I was certain my [Greater Fire Body] would not evolve anytime soon.
Knowing that though, I still trained my [Greater Fire Body] by diving and enduring in the sea of magma, which led me to find out one of the changes from my evolution while I was experimenting with my evolved body.
I was unsurprisingly able to last a lot longer in the magma. It still hurt though moreso when I accidentally drank that hot liquid while I was diving.
It seemed that being in a fire-concentrated place also made me feel pretty much more comfortable.
Other than that, with my physical abilities I should be able to take a hit or two from a [Hell Fly] but not his piercing attack because I didn’t believe that my flesh was that hard enough.
For the next days until the summoning I trained, hunted and rested.
“Krehhhh … !” screamed the lizardling as I pulled out my claw after using [Enhanced Shadow Claw] from it’s body.
“Finally a successful hunt after so many lizards’ suvivor. Wew…” I took a breath. That’s right, I managed to kill a group of lizardlings that were 5 lizardlings without any survivors.
It should be a good news due to the fact that my affinities would increase by 10% unless I didn’t get any skills from all of the lizardlings that I had killed.
It was infuriating for me to not get any skills at all. I was furious and coincidentally I saw a group of lizardlings going home so I unleashed my fury towards them.
While eating the lizardlings, I was thinking about it again and I realized almost all of my known skills were obtained from killing the
stronger version from the hell beast.
Did it mean that the stronger the beasts or demons the more chances to get skills?
[Oh great, Hell really wants us lesser demons to fight something stronger or suicide.
And now that I am thinking about it. I have not seen the lizardlings version of Hell Guards Ant or Hell Fly.
Should I find their burrow or nest? The problem is unlike the Hell Ant, these lizardlings are always in groups and at least know how to deal damage].
My thoughts were interrupted when I got the war notification. Had it already been three days?
[You are summoned by Hell to partake in the war. Checking demon… Unranked demon… Obligatory participation… under Count Andromalius…]
The same summoning circle that had transported me appeared around me on the ground.
[Heh… Even outside of the cave I am being transported … Fine … I will survive this again and get stronger].
[You are being transported to the battlefield … ]
[Tower of Babel Floor 1 Area 2]
[Surviving Condition]
Kill all enemies until there are only one faction left. Factions: Living, Hell, and Heaven.
[Description]
You, as a new recruits, have already been baptised by the blood of your own kind and also know a little about the other factions. Now show them your ruthlessness to your own enemies and bring your first victory for your faction. The more you kill the more rewards you will get.
[Minimum Survival Condition]
Kill 3 living beings of your own faction.
[Tower of Babel Floor 1 Area 2]
Alive:70 Dead:0
I was transported to the same tower-like floor with dark corridors illuminated by flickering torches.
[I see, so Floor 0 is like an entry test and that explains why I have only encountered Goblins and Imps and not many other beings until the end.
However, the minimum survival condition is too ruthless no? I could immediately see backstabbing will happen. Really great…
Will be there be anyone stronger again in this floor like that [Rusted Undead Knight]? If yes, this tower is really bend on slaughtering all of us].
I didn’t have to wait until the same being at the end of the last floor appeared before me, a human.
“What luck, I find an imp! Hehe this will be my first kill.” said the man confidently.

“Hoh not bad. I can see why this man is so confident. Unfortunately … ”
I immediately used my usual combo and stabbed him using [Enhanced Shadow Claw].
“Wha… Blurgh” He vomitted a mouthful of blood. “Wha … kin … o … im… ” He spoke incoherently as he died and changed into black particles.
“The human before was stronger well at least he could block this simple attack.
It seems that there is still a leftover fury from before. If not, I will probably not kill him quickly.”
