Re: Devil - Volume 1 Chapter 17
[Tower of Babel Floor 1 Area 2]
Alive:69 Dead:1
“Now then… Where am I now exactly? Is it still the same floor layout as the last floor or different?” I muttered.
I walked with a slow pace towards the dark corridor while being alert to any changes. It wouldn’t hurt myself being cautious, no?
“Ahhhhh!!!”
Suddenly, I heard a scream echoing from the direction that I was walking to.
“Should I keep going to see what is going on or go back?”
I believed that the chances were likely I would need to fight however the rewards were also sometimes worth it like the goblins and the lizardlings.
Then I remembered at the end of the day, I would need to fight and kill the surviving enemies. Well, It was better to kill now than later while also preventing the same factions grouping together.
My only hope is that I would not encounter a group of humans or angels. The former because it was almost guaranteed suicide and the later because I had not meet a single angel at all.
Making up my mind, I quickened my pace while preparing myself to retaliate if necessary. I believed that at this early stage there should not be a large group yet.
I was able to see two silhouettes illuminated by the flame leaning against wall. One of them was clutching his leg tightly while feeling full of agony and pain.
The other one was kneeling on the ground doing something with the injured leg. I could see blood gushing out from the leg and not stopping at all making a puddle of blood on the ground.
At this distance, I was able to smell blood directly and I was instantly intoxicated and craved it.
“Humans … Yes no doubt this smell of blood belongs to a human. Imps and goblins’ blood are not this alluring.”
Lucky me, I found myself two humans with one being already injured. I stopped and observed while lowering my presence as little as possible to avoid alerting them about a foe.
I looked intently at the injured leg and I saw that the leg was pierced by arrows. Yes there were many holes showing the inside of the leg’s inner flesh and from there blood was flowing nonstop.
[No wonder the scent was very strong. That explains why I was intoxicated and plus the body of a demon innately liking to devour humans].
“Damn it! you triggered a trap, blockhead!” said the kneeling man.
“Shut up and heal my leg already!” The injured man shouted painfully.
“Then don’t struggle so much! I am not a healer so I can only apply you first aid. It is not my fault that somebody is dumb enough to just rush things and not pay attention to traps.”
“I don’t want to hear anything from you. The faster we clear this tower the better rewards we can get, right? Argh! Hey do it right!”
“It seems that somebody is not grateful enough and keep quiet will you! We are still in the tower.” reminded the man.
He tightened the bandage with a little more force. The man tried to keep his mouth shut from screaming while glaring hatefully at the other person.

[The two humans are stronger than the previous human but one of them is injured.
As long as I am able to dispose the rogue first with the shock from the surprise attack the warrior should be paralyzed for a second making it easier for me subsequently killing him
From the previous 2 fights with human I have learned two things. Humans are full of weakness and their bodies are very weak however their skills and wisdoms make it up for them and it is very troublesome.
And humans seem to react more aggresively than a normal demon. Their faces tend to show a variety of expression unlike demons. I wonder why?].
Anyway, I was waiting for them to let their guard down so I could sneak attack succesfully. I was already prepared with my combo only waiting for the right time to act.
When the man that was healing the other let his guard down after he had finished treating the injured man, I quickly rushed and stabbed his head.
My claws easily pierced his head because he was still kneeling and large amount of blood splattered on the floor.
Some of the blood managed to make it’s way to the injured man’s face. Shocked by the sudden change of his comrade and events I immediately used the chance to also kill him.
Their bodies were turning into black substances and scattered like particles absorbed by the tower.

“Hoh. 6 beings are already dead with me killing 3 of them. This means the killing has just begun.”
I was excited and wanted to keep continue until I stood still and remembered what happened to the warrior in this tower. Not only I needed to keep my guard up against other factions, there were also traps implemented in this tower.
I quickly looked throughly, while remaining in place, this area where the man presumably was pierced here. How did the man trigger the trap? Was there any signs or something?
Discovering nothing related to traps, I assumed the trap was a one-time use only but it heightened my awareness and I needed to be more careful now that the traps were in play in this tower’s floor.
I continued to explore the area while keeping my guard up in case I accidentally triggered a trap.
Other than the traps I had nothing much to say regarding this floor 1. There was nothing noteworthy to be paid attention to and it was not interesting enough like in Hell. I just wanted to quickly leave this tower.

“3 more beings are down and I have not found any other beings anymore. Thankfully the dead counter is rising in a moderate pace.”
I was walking until suddenly a magic circle like the summoning circle but with a different marking appeared under my foot.
Instinctively I immediately jumped backwards and just in the nick of time before 2 big circles appearead on the wall left and right of my previous spot and a barrage of arrows were shot at a quick speed.
The arrows disappeared at the same time with the 2 big circles dimmed and faded on the wall.
[I see. So that is how traps work. I can picture myself what happened to the previous warrior.
I assume the warrior was late to react and was pulled by the rogue however it was too late and some of the arrow managed to pierce his leg. I thought the traps were imp size considering the injury was only on his leg].
While I was thinking about that, I heard footsteps, I immediately became alert and turned towards the direction the noises were coming from.
As the footsteps were getting louder and louder and I was getting ready to attack, the culprit hastily shouted
“Wait wait don’t kill me now.”
I managed to get a clear look of the one that was talking. It was an imp.
I didn’t let my guard down yet in case the imp was trying anything funny. Moreover it was an imp that was able to have normal conversations.
“I mean no harm besides we are the same species imp.” said the imp.
“What do you want? spit it out before I deemed you as an enemy.” I replied.
“I don’t dare I don’t dare. Although we are an imp I can see that you are stronger than me.
I am an imp under Earl Furfur and I would like to propose you a truce considering that we are in the same faction.” explained the imp.
I asked “What’s in it for you? Are you not afraid that I would kill you to clear the minimum surviving condition?”
“Of course to survive. It is better for us to stick together and it makes easier for us to kill all the other factions.
I believe that you want to clear the main objectives and not only the minimum, no?
Besides if I am doing anything funny, you could easily kill me. You can also check me using your [Inspect] to show you my sincerity.”
[Smart imp… Should I or should I not accept the offer?]
