Description: Passive, An upgraded version of Fire Body. Improved resistant against attacks containing fire element. When attacked, a small chance to inflict burn damage to the enemy.
I think I knew why my body “controlled” me if it sensed a chance to gain strength no matter the cost.
Seeing progress in my own self for some reason made me happy and … relief?
Though when I checked the description for [Lesser Flame Body] it was vague as it only said improved resistance.
Hopefully it was a significant improvement as the skill itself also changed name.
I didn’t know how well exactly my body fare against fire element attacks.
Fortunately, here in this habitat of the lizardlings there were lava rivers everywhere so that I could test it now.
I walked to a nearby lava river and gulped nervously before I dipped my foot slowly into the bubbling hot lava.
I felt a stinging pain in the area of my foot but it was not as painful as before I had not [Lesser Fire Body].
As I got used to it and felt more confident, I sinked my whole leg before my lower body also followed.
“Huuu…”
At first, it was only pain but gradually it was getting more and more comfortable for me.
I sinked my whole body while closing my eyes to know how long I could endure the boiling hot lava.
I didn’t know long the time was passed before I frantically trying to get out from the lava river due to unbearable heat but I was certain that it was significantly longer than before I had [Lesser Fire Body].
I got out and sit at the riverside to catch my breath before trying to experiment more.
And what better way to experiment more when I saw a lone lizardling was drinking lava at the riverside across me minding it’s own business.
I wanted to test how my body fared against a [Fire Ball] now and I hoped the lizardling had the skill.
I threw a nearby rock at it to agitate it. The rock hit the lizardling and it was annoyed that it was interrupted.
It raised it’s head and saw me the culprit and opened it’s mouth and fire elements were gathered. It had [Fire Ball]. What were the chances?
It threw the fire ball and I raised my hand to block it. I only felt some stinging pain and I waved my hand and the fire ball disappeared.
The lizardling was shocked seeing it’s [Fire Ball] was not effective against me, turned it’s tail and ran away.
“Oh no you don’t… Do you think I will let a lone lizardling run away?”
I chased the lizardling but the longer I chased, I sensed a faint bad feeling was growing.
Until the lizardling had reached a dead end because further were only lava rivers.
However, I sensed that the lizardling was not afraid and then it let out a cried.
I felt something was wrong but I was too late because when I turned around, the same [Hell Fire Lizard] blocked the path with it’s group of lizardlings.
Then the lizardlings encircled me preventing me to not even think about escaping.
The leader of the lizardlings stared at me with it’s slit like eyes hatefully due to me killing many of it’s kin.
Three of the lizardlings charged at me while the lizardlings at the back opened their mouth and were preparing to cast and throw multiple [Fire Ball]s at me.
Without any thinking, I determined to quickly kill the [Hell Fire Lizard] first before it’s underlings because as long as the leader was dead the rest of the lizardlings without the command of the leader would bound to be my prey.
I invoked [Enhanced Shadow Claw] on both of my hands and charged towards the leader while ignoring the lizardlings and if possible dodged them at the same time.
The past me would not even think doing something as reckless as the current me.
My guarantee of my own safety was my newly acquired tested skill [Lesser Flame Body].
It should be enough to ignore some stray [Fire Ball]s but I needed to control how many [Fire Ball]s should I take on.
The pain was still there although not significant anymore but if I kept on acc.u.mulating unnecessary injury in the middle of group battle was suicide.
Anyway,
“Hah!” I thrusted my claws towards the body of the lizard.
The leader was stunned for a moment before snapping out of it as it’s claw glowed bright red presumably fire elements and raised it’s claw to block my shadow claws.
The lizard was pushed back a bit however I moved two steps backward due to the weight of the lizard, I assumed.
Unfortunately, the lizardlings were not going to give me some time to rest as their [Fire Ball]s headed towards me.
More and more lizardlings were throwing [Fire Ball]s at me as they gradually realized that I was ignoring them.
I avoided mostly all the [Fire Ball]s but I could not help it when there were some [Fire Ball]s that managed to hit me.
If these things kept going on then it was only a matter of time before I needed to retreat or be eaten. Moreover it was getting more and more annoying to deal with. To top it off there was still a lizard.
[Change of plans! Kill the lizardlings first then the leader]
Making up mind, I lunged myself towards a nearby lizardling and pierced it’s head.
Then with the momentum I kept on killing and sometimes only heavily injured the lizardlings while also irritated the lizard.
Seeing that their usual strategy was ineffective against me and the casualties were piling up. The [Hell Fire Lizard] charged towards me while I kept on killing the lizardlings.
If before I needed to pay attention and be careful with their fire element based attacks now for the price of some doable damage I could kill one and I only needed to be vigilant with the lizard.
Although the [Hell Fire Lizard] slithered agilely, with the [Lesser Speed Movement], I was a bit faster than it ever so slightly.
It turned out that a [Hell Fire Lizard] was not so scary after all. Most likely [Hell Roach]es’ weakness were fire and they were the [Hell Fire Lizardling]s’ diet.
Finally, as the last of the lizardlings’ group was dead, I turned my attention to the leader of the group, the [Hell Fire Lizard] and I could sense the boiling rage within it.
It let out a loud sorrowful cried with a mixture of anger before it used [Fire Claw]s on both of it’s claws like me before slithering towards me.
Our claws collided with each other as fire and shadow intertwined with each other gaining for supremacy.
Before my body was pushed back again, I managed to see my shadow elements devoured the fire elements.
From the confrontation, my element attacks were stronger but the lizard’s claw and physical damage were more powerful.
We continued using element based attacks against each other before I sensed I was getting tired and the lizard noticed it before swiping it’s tail on to my body.
Damn, the situation was no good for me because my stamina was draining rapidly. This was the side effect when I decided to first kill all the lizardlings.
I must land a fatal blow to end this battle otherwise I would need to retreat and it would be a waste of my energy and spoils after killing all these lizardlings.
The [Hell Fire Lizard] perceived that I was weakened and it’s attacks were getting more and more aggresive wanting to quickly kill me to appease it’s dead kin.
[Calm down … The more it is reckless the easier for me to find a chance. I only need a split second to make a chance].
The lizard was charging at me again before I swiped the ground with my claw making rocks and dusts flew away.
Some of them got into the lizard’s eyes and it was ditracted. “Chance!”
I quickly buffed myself and dealt the fatal blow against the lizard. The lizard was injured heavily and refused to die but it’s body could not support it anymore. Even more so, I still had the energy left to fight.
After the lizard finally died, I was grinning happily. “Time to eat!”
