[Description]
You are an outstanding recruit for surviving this far. But a recruit is still a recruit. To prove yourself worthy for serving Hell. Kill all of the abyssal beasts living in this Tower of Babel. Remember you are a recruit, you only need to obey and execute.
[Minimum Survival Condition]
Kill 4 other beings aside from the Abyssal Beasts
[Tower of Babel Floor 3 Area 5]
Alive: 100 Dead: 0
The usual notification block popped up in front of me and I proceeded to read the survival conditions. The minimum survival condition was very clear but I was greeted with a new term ‘Abyssal Beast’.
“What in the Hell is a Abyssal Beast? Great now another unstable factor for my survival!”
Worrying about that would not get me anywhere. It was better to just go with the flow though with more caution.
At least, I hoped when I met someone, they would be as reasonable as that chatterbox imp because our main priority was killing Abyssal Beasts not each other was what I would like to say but most likely they would ignore it and killed indiscriminately to fulfill their own minimum survival condition.
I sighed and looked around my landing area. The same old walls and the same old atmosphere with not even a trace of the outside world.
I was getting curious of how the outside world of this tower looked like but I was still just an imp.
Dampness and darkness were what I was eligible to see now though I noticed something different. The walls and floors were getting older and older as sometimes I could also saw a cracked walls or was it just me and my memories.
Well I had only 2 experiences with this ‘war’. I advanced with caution to the only way the tower ‘showed’ me.
I was walking around aimlessly as usual and wondering how the abyssal beasts looked like until my question was quickly answered in an unexpected way.
At first, I only saw a black silhouette thinking that it was only a shadow until it suddenly moved and charged towards me.
I was caught off guard and hastily raised both of my hands to guard but it still heavily slammed against me.
I was propelled backwards even though I managed to reduce the damage it had done. [Strong!].
As it went near me, I finally saw the real appearance of that being. Black coated fur and a aggressive-like appearance. It’s size was bigger than me.
Four strong limbs, strong jaw with sharp teeth, and red bloody eyes. A purple-like aura was radiated from itself and covered it’s body. “Grrrr…..”
I immediately calmed myself down and used [Insight] on it. I felt something off from this beast. It was naturally different from a Hell beast but this beast… what was the word… in the state of madness?
[Insight]

Species: Abyssal Dog

Abyssal Aura
Heavy Crunch
[Abyssal Dog]
Description: Man’ worst friend. A dog that was corrupted by the abyssal aura. Totally the complete opposite of the once playful and reliable dog. Ruthless and Bloodthirsty. It’s [Heavy Crunch] can cleanly kill prey that are similar to a goblin.
[Abyssal Aura]

[Heavy Crunch]
Description: Strengthen the jaw and the teeth to chomp down and tear the enemy to shred. May also cause bleeding.
My eyes immediately bulged out reading the skills of the [Abyssal Dog]. What the Hell was [Abyssal Aura]? No wonder it’s power was so strong. Though at the cost of madness, you can double your power, I say it was good deal in Hell at least.
After knowing the reason what was off about this dog, bad news was it still would not help me to deal with it.
Due to it being constant in the state of madness I could not rely on predicting it’s attack. I could only rely on my instinct fully.
The [Abyssal Dog] was not going to give me time to prepare as it pounced swiftly towards me. This time I was ready as I easily avoided the attack and the [Abyssal Dog] slammed it’s head against the wall.
I knew I would feel pain when hitting my head against the wall but the dog shook it off easily and continued to pounce itself towards me in an attempt to finish me off.
I quickly used [Enhanced Shadow Claw] and sliced it’s body while avoiding the attack sideways and as the description of [Abyssal Aura] said, all stats increased by 100%, it meant literally 100% including it’s defence.
My claw that could easily sliced a [Hobgoblin]’s arm or even a [Hell Fire Lizard] only left a bleeding wound on the the [Abyssal Dog]’s body.
At least, it should slow it down a bit, right? Nope, what it did was only enraging it further more and I felt that the Abyssal Beast didn’t feel any pain at all, only madness.
I changed my strategy and fired a [Fire Ball] towards it’s face. Maybe I should try using an element attacks?
The dog instinctively dodged it and ran towards me while opening it’s mouth. “Shit! [Heavy Crunch]” I could tell it what it wanted to do judging by dark aura manifesting around it’s mouth.
Thinking that as long as it didn’t touch me it should be fine, I dodged it at the last second. But reality didn’t like to play as I wanted to be.
When the dog closed down it’s mouth, the dark aura changed it’s shape resembling a jaw with black teeth and chomped down breaking the floor easily.
I was caught in the side attack and was damaged though not severely. Ignoring the pain, I used [Fire Ball] and it hit it this time.
The dog was pushed away and fell down. I saw that the [Fire Ball] had an effect on the [Abyssal Dog] and found out that possibly it’s element defence was weak.
So I quickly casted multiple [Fire Ball]s on both of my hands and continuously fired the volley of [Fire Ball]s just like the [Hell Fire Lizardling]s at the dog.
After some time and the dust was settled, I was shocked to find the dog managed to stand up but my worry was for naught as I could see it was struggling to even stand up.
But a good enemy was a dead enemy so I put it out of it’s misery for the good of both of us as I threw another [Fire Ball] finishing the dog.
I didn’t know if I see it wrongly or not but I sensed that the dog was relief and was at peace as it slumped down after taking so much damage as the normal black substances covered it’s body and scattered away to nothingness.
After the adrenaline rush, I kneeled down trying to catch my breath as I was very tired. I leaned my back against the wall.
I had realized that there was not even one moment I didn’t need to slump down and take a rest in the tower .
Furthermore, I also realized a worst case scenario, if one abyssal beast already made me really tired then how many abyssal beasts were there in this floor…
