Re: Life – Business & Technology - Chapter 69
An animated video showed the Infinity Series of products ranging from a new mobile phone to a supercomputer filling an entire building floor.
When the video concluded, Vince took center stage and discussed Future Tech’s new product line for 2013.
“Everybody is releasing new consoles later this year, but everyone will have the opportunity to buy an Infinity console starting tomorrow. Yet before we talk more about consumer devices, I’d like to show you one of the significant features of Everlife.” Vince stated.
Another Everlife trailer played on the big screen showing large-scale multiplayer and many other game modes already built-in from the story mode.
“In partnership with NetServ, Everlife will feature online servers with a maximum of 10,000 concurrent players, for now, via the Infinity Cloud subscription, adding on to your existing telecom bill for $10 a month, or paid for separately. Any purchasing player can utilize the Infinity Cloud platform to host private servers and sell custom game modes and assets created on the Infinity Unreal Engine – Everlife kit. Future Studios will feature the best mods and custom maps on the Infinity Store and even include them on official servers for a fair price, of course.” Vince explained.
The crowd couldn’t help from cheering in excitement after learning about Everlife’s multiplayer feature.
“You can technically develop entirely new missions with voice acting and custom animations using the software tools included for free on any Infinity-based product. The Infinity brand name comes from the new one-nanometer processor architecture developed by Future Tech that drives all our computers. We’ll continue security updates for our first-generation products for five years but will focus on the Infinity line from now on.” Vince stated.
“The Infinity console will retail for $999 and is a powerful computer in its own right, though I recommend buying an Infinity Workstation if you plan on developing 3D projects like games and movies costing $5,000. For businesses requiring on-premises Infinity cloud processing, Infinity Servers is the right choice for $25,000 each. Infinity Supercomputers boasts 500 Petaflops of processing speed, almost ten times faster than the Tianhe-2. These supercomputers cost $250 million each, reserved for universities and US government institutions for now.” Vince added.
“AI is a cornerstone technology of Future Tech, and all our users will experience the assistance of general artificial intelligence using Infi, a built-in AI assistant powered by the Infinity Cloud on all our new devices. But before we talk more about Future Tech AI, I’d like to present one of Future Education, Studios, and Robotics’ most outstanding innovation yet. The Hypervisor.” Vince stated before the lights suddenly turned off.
Daft Punk started playing more music from the Everlife soundtrack. Then, the stage lit up, and the audience could see eleven men wearing peculiar and futuristic devices over their eyes. After a few seconds of them dancing, the people instantly recognized the group as the Jabbawockeez, but instead of their usual white masks, they were wearing the new Hypervisors.
[This E3 announcement keeps getting better and better every second.] 3D Jaden thought.
The audience was ecstatic to watch one of the most popular dance groups in the world live on stage at such an unsuspecting event as a video game announcement.
Three young people walked up to the center when the dance number concluded, and the Jabbawockeez left the stage.
“As you could tell, the devices they were wearing is the new Hypervisor. Your peripheral vision is so clear; you can dance while you’re wearing them. The Hypervisor is the latest way to interact with the digital world. Augmented reality training simulations were the first application we tested using the Hypervisor. Future Tech has certified hundreds of aerodyne pilots using the prototype version, and this new iteration includes more free training simulations like for the Infinity Unreal Engine and other pre-installed Infinity operating system software.” Jessica stated.
“There are three modes currently available. Standard mode projects an enhanced image of what you’re looking at and can even compensate for darkness and brightness. The second mode is Augmented Reality, where the visor shows 3D and 2D objects in your field of view, which is very useful in training mechanics and professionals from many industries. The third mode is Virtual Reality, which requires a compatible computer like the Infinity Console or Workstation to run. It allows the user to experience immersive content such as video games and movies like you were there. You can also use a virtual desktop and abandon your multi-display setups for office workloads. Hell, you can even ditch your mobile phone because the Hypervisor has a built-in Infinity Cloud connection that works with any NetServ subscription.” Jessica added.
“We’ve spent months perfecting an intuitive control scheme easy enough for any user to learn. All software is technically compatible with Virtual Desktop, but Future Tech applications still work the best in the Hypervisor environment.” Sarah commented.
“Future Tech has worked diligently with Epic Games to refine the Infinity Unreal Engine enough to handle Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality workloads. Our advancements with in-game rendering and 3D-accelerated computations allowed us to integrate a holistic VR experience into Everlife. You heard that right. Everlife in high-resolution, fast refresh rate, Virtual Reality.” Rick declared.
[Like the popular anime, Sword Art Online?!] Wonder Alice thought excitedly.
“I know you’re already thinking about the anime, but this isn’t deep-dive VR. Not yet, I would say.” Jessica commented.
“Future Tech is already working on deep-dive VR?!” an audience member shouted out while everybody else was dead silent from their shock.
“For a year now, yes. We’ve designed the Infinity architecture, operating system, and Unreal Engine to accommodate our eventual shift into deep-dive VR experiences. However, it will take years before the FDA approves the project.” Jessica explained.
[We’re getting AR and VR now, and even deep-dive VR soon?!] 3D Jaden thought in disbelief.
“If you’re courageous enough, under your seat, Future Studios hid a Hypervisor for anyone to try out right now. So go ahead, give it a spin.” Rick stated.
The audience members reached underneath their seats and immediately wore a Hypervisor as soon as they found it.
“Future Tech has purchased many small companies like Grado Labs to add better features to our products, and the Hypervisor comes with audiophile-grade molded earbuds. I suggest turning off the noise-canceling and using ambient-sound mode for now.” Rick explained.
“All of the new Infinity products are powered by the latest batteries designed by Tesla in partnership with Future Tech Materials. For example, the Infinity mobile phone and Hypervisor come with a 60,000 mA Vertically-Aligned Carbon Nanotube battery. It improves power by a factor of 10, energy storage by up to a factor of three, and lifecycle by up to a factor of five, all while reducing charge time down to a mere few minutes. Lighter, smaller, and more compact than any on the market.” Sarah commented.
“I wouldn’t recommend virtual reality for prolonged periods, but the Hypervisor can handle wireless network, graphics, controls, audio, for days before you’d need to recharge the battery. So you wouldn’t have to worry about running out of juice in the middle of work or play.” Sarah added.
An augmented reality show starring various Everlife characters started a few seconds after the audience wore the Hypervisors.
“Wow! It’s like the characters are physically around us.” Wonder Alice said in awe.
“The world is changing literally right before my eyes!” 3D Jaden replied in excitement.
The three young executives exited the stage while Vince and Patel returned to the spotlight.
“Thank you, Jessica, Rick, and Sarah, for the Hypervisor demonstration. “With me is Patel, the genius innovator leading Future Tech AI,” Vince stated.
“Infi, the assistant AI is more than just for ease of use. Infi facilitates all devices using NetServ Infinity Cloud-like autonomous drones and public transportation. Many Future Tech employees are already using Infi for train arrival/departure updates, calendar assistance, and miscellaneous application tasks like controlling Hypervisor functionality with just a few verbal instructions. More integration features will release once more Infinity-related products are available.” Patel explained passionately.
“We’ll be announcing upcoming VR and AR experiences like video games, simulations, movies, and other media throughout 2013. But for now, please enjoy your very own free Infinity Console and Hypervisor, which costs $2,500 as a set. You can register your devices to an Infinity Cloud account after the show. Special thanks to all the brilliant and dedicated members of Future Tech. These innovations wouldn’t be here without you, guys!” Vince declared as the end music started playing.
The audience was still shocked by all revelations happening in the past half hour. Future Tech and Wonder Alice’s live stream viewers were going nuts and chatting at an insane rate.
[We even get free stuff?! This show was the best E3 announcement I’ve ever seen!] Wonder Alice thought.
