Realm Wars - Chapter 203
Meanwhile, on the other end of the map, Ryu was fast approaching the scene where Rosa and the other’s car had flipped. He didn’t have time to take a breather nor check Rosa’s current location as he was busy fending off zombies left and right.
He also encountered mutated monsters along the way that he managed to avoid. But the current one that stood before him and his only way to Rosa –– that he couldn’t avoid.
Dangling from the stomach of the mutated monster was a fetus-like being, sewn like a muscular connection that had been fused to its host. A pair of bulbous eyes were fixated on Ryu, pleading for help.
The creature also had an additional head sprouting from its shoulders. It seemed like those were beings it killed, for they bit and yelped at the creature until they got hold of its ears and bit down on it with all their might.
Ryu’s claws extended, and his canines snapped. He’ll finish this quickly before the other zombies can pick up his scent and surround him.
The mutated monster roared and closed in, attempting an epic head-butt, but Ryu evaded the monster while landing a brutal strike on one of its heads.
The little head from its shoulder shrieked as it flew off from the monster’s body. But the strangest thing happened when it crawled back to the creature and attached itself again.
Ryu was distracted by what happened and lost sight of the monster’s attack for one costly instance. Fortunately, he managed to avoid a lethal blow from the creature that otherwise would leave a puncture wound on his stomach.
However, the creature came in close, and one of its little heads bit down on Ryu’s ear and ripped a bit of it away.
Ryu leaped away, putting distance between him and the creature. He looked at the monster that was chewing on his flesh while it smiled and held eye contact with him.
Not minding his bleeding ear, Ryu felt worried. He was not going to turn into a zombie, right?
However, he didn’t have the time to figure that out when the monster appeared right before him, but this time, he was prepared. Those little heads were nothing but a distraction, and he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.
Ryu rained down a series of jabbing blows that the creature couldn’t even react after a series of vicious attacks landed on its massive body. The monster was overwhelmed, and it shrieked when its body turned into nothing, but mincemeat and a large gaping hole appeared on its stomach within seconds.
The mutated monster staggered, and its head slumped from its injuries. The fetus that was once in his stomach was gone, replaced by fluid, blood, and torn flesh. The sight enraged the monster, and it cupped the fetus’s remains in its hands and bellowed a heartfelt scream at Ryu.
Ryu stepped back as the mutated monster lunged in a fury, and with a quick snap, he delivered a lighting underhand swing and caught the monster completely off guard. His claws ripped through its head, killing it in an instant.
The monster fell on the ground, and the two little heads on its shoulders were shrieking and squirming until their tongue slipped out from their mouth, and their eyes rolled in the back of their heads.
Ryu inspected the bitten part of his ear and found that it was no longer bleeding, and his ear was good as new.
He was confused because he had never had a healing ability before, much less a regeneration ability.
Something had changed in his body, and he liked it.
But his happy thoughts were cut short because a horde of zombies was heading his way. They were attracted by the loud sounds of the fight and the monster’s shrieks.
Ryu didn’t have the time to deal with them. He leaped over and climbed on a tall building before checking where Rosa was.
That’s odd. Ryu thought.
Rosa was near, but he couldn’t sniff her scent nor spot her anywhere with his keen eyes.
Did something happen?

Back in the underground, Kai and the others were planning their next course of action.
“I-I say we go back to the sanctuary,” Kelly mumbled in a weak voice.
Fjord vehemently shook his head. “Not a good idea, we’re already halfway to city x. The only option we have now is continuing onward and meeting up with the other group. It’s much safer that way too than backtrack and be surrounded by a horde of zombies or worse . . . mutated monsters.”
Rosa sneered. “But who can say that it wouldn’t happen if we pressed forward as well?”
Fjord looked away and sweated buckets. “At least, we got to accomplish the mission than go back empty-handed. We might find some food and useful items there, and our trouble wouldn’t go to waste.”
“You just wanted to find a helicopter or a new car or spare parts, don’t you?” Rosa spat.
Fjord lowered his eyes and awkwardly laughed. “O-of course not.”
“Is there some kind of an underground tunnel in here that would lead us back to the base?” Myla asked Seraphina.
Seraphina shook her head. “None. This underground tunnel only served a certain distance. It doesn’t connect to other tunnels.”
“Times a wasting. How about we just take a vote?” Kai suggested.
The others’ faces looked serious before they nodded.
It was the only option they had. It was better than separating. At least with their numbers, their chances of staying alive were higher.
“Alright, those who vote to press forward raised your hand.” Kai raised his hand.
As much as he wanted to go back to this sanctuary that Fjord spoke off. The little man was right. It was better to find food and items that would help them rather than go back empty-handed.
Myla and Fjord followed his action.
While Rosa and Seraphina voted to turn back. Both the women looked at each other before they harrumphed and looked away.
Seraphina wanted to see Ryu right away. The same with Rosa. And both women knew what the others were thinking, which put a sour line on their faces.
Then their piercing eyes shot to Kelly, and the latter was forced to raise her hand in favor of Rosa and Seraphina.
Kia sighed through his mouth, raffling his fringe. “This wouldn’t get us anywhere. Three out of three.”
“We might want to hurry up deciding,” whispered Myla, eyes on the inhabitants of the underground tunnel.
Everyone took a peek, and the inhabitants were stealing glances at them and murmuring to themselves.
Something didn’t feel right.
“W-what now? I-is it time to go already?” Kelly asked. “But I felt like it’s not even an hour yet.”
“No idiot.” Rosa took in a sharp breath. She knew this would happen the moment she dropped those meats on the floor. That was why she agreed with only an hour of stay. She hoped that it could buy them time before the situation could worsen.
“It’s because of the food. They’re probably thinking of extorting us before we leave.”
