[Reberu] ga Arunara Agerudesho? Mobukyara ni Tensei Shita Ore wa Gēmu Chishiki o Ikashi, Hitasura Reberu o Age Tsudzukeru - CH 90
[The Highest Privilege]
“In short, ‘World Intervention (System Command)’ is kinda like a magic that can only be used by us reincarnated people. You know the setting of magic in the world of FA, ‘ight?” (Nanashino)
FA*, it is an abbreviation that refers to the original game, ‘Frontier Academia’, on the internet. (TL: *Furoaka in katakana, but I abbreviate it to FA)
Although, some anti-fans convert it into kanji and write it as ‘Bath Filth*’. (TL: *風呂垢– Furoaka in kanji)
Anyway, magic in the world of FA is, roughly speaking, ‘a miracle that materialize something that one is wishing for in the world’.
“Originally, people actually don’t need any other action than ‘wishing’ to cast magic. They can cast magic by simply paying magic power and wish ‘do this’ to the world.
“But the image- conditions of the wish strongly influences the magic at the time it is casted as there is a risk of it going out of control due to lack of information such as ‘what is it, how large is it, what do it do, etc.’; that is why it is necessary to use a spell (skill name) to lay out a guide rail- or something along those lines, right?” (Sakurai)
I say while digging through the knowledge in my head.
For example, anyone can cut ingredients with a kitchen knife and fry them on a frying pan to cook up a dish.
However, not everyone can make a dish at the level of one that can be served at a restaurant.
If you want to eat such a dish, you have to train yourself for a long time or ask a chef to make it.
Should you choose the latter, you have to state the menu (skill name) to have the chef (world) to cook up the dish you want, and accordingly, you’ll have to pay a fee (magic power) as compensation.
Afterward the chef, who has received the fee, will provide a dish (paranormal phenomenon) to the customer (mage)…… this is what the thing called magic is in this world.
However, that is just the analogy to give one a better idea of magic written in the setting book.
As I had said to Nanashino, originally, you can just say ‘fry it’ or ‘cut it’ and the chef will carry it out.
However, the chef (world), who turns out to be relatively sloppy at accounting according to the settings, would naturally not know what kind of dish to make with such unclear requests, and according to the fee they received, they might start adding various seasonings without asking for you opinion.
Therefore, if you wish ‘I want a fire’, the fire that may appears would range from fire the size of a finger to fire that burns everything in your sights. That is the case when it activates as a normal fire magic, but sometimes, it might even activate with the effect of healing magic.
It is true that ‘fire’ will appear, but as it depends on how detailed the wish is, it is unknown what kind of effect it will have until it actually appears.
(Therefore, the method of casting magic with just one action, that is ‘wishing’, has been judged to be flawed. That’s why Thoth, the magic god, put a barrier on the world itself so that people don’t need a clear image to cast magic…)
However, the barrier is such that it has a certain limit, that is ‘if you order things that is not on the menu, it will not be transmitted to the chef’.
To give you a better idea, it is like the ordering method using an electronic menu which has been adopted by many stores such as conveyor belt sushi chain restaurants, I guess?
The customer has to order from a fixed menu without being to talk to the chef directly, preventing the customer from making unclear demands.
Thus, the cook is able to make a proper dish, safe from the customer miscellaneous orders, which eventually leads to the to the protection of the customer themselves.
By the way, technique type skills such as ‘Flame Sword’ and ‘Shishū’ are different from magic which needs to be cooked by the world; they need to be cooked by oneself, so to speak.
Since you cook them yourself, you don’t have to pay a fee (magic power), but it takes very long years for one to be able to provide the same level of dish as that of the world.
Among them, the best chef (master) is Bonus Uncle who is praised as the ‘Sword Saint’, but that is irrelevant to the current talk.
“Ah~, I get it now. Is the ‘World Intervention (System Command)’ kinda like a magic that can break through Thoth’s barrier and be casted just by ‘wishing’ for it directly?” (Sakurai)
“Unlike everyone else, we know this world is a game. It’s because we have a clear understanding of what this world is that we can create magic directly without being misled by that annoying barrier… or so I think.” (Nanashino)
“Don’t just lose your confidence outta nowhere.” (Sakurai)
“Well, I don’t have a clear confirmation, at least none of the guys who I gave the knowledge of the original game that I had could do the same. They could learn new skills, but… ah, I’ve properly gotten rid of those guys, so rest assured. I’m not inclined to discard my advantage, after all!” (Nanashino)
I keep directing a cold gaze at Nanashino who smiles and gives me a thumb up.
Such extra information and exaggerated, intentional gesture are unnecessary; just get to the point.
“Ah, just now, you thought, ‘but in the end, if you just wish, the magic will run out of control due to lack of necessary information’, didn’t you?” (Nanashino)
“That seems to be the case in your mind.” (Sakurai)
“That question matters most. So, I tried investigating the relationship between the length of the wish and the activation of magic. What I found out was that ‘do something’ was the only thing conveyed as the wish. A long wish like ‘do it this way, and then do this’ will end up only consuming your magic power and misfiring. In other words——” (Nanashino)
Starting with those words, Nanashino starts talking about some kind of complicated magic theories using technical terms. And from time to time, he’d ask me if I understand them.
When he looks at my face – which shows confusion, like not understanding things such as the magic theories of this world better than what is explained in the game settings – Nanashino, for some reason, makes a satisfied smile and says, “My bad, my bad, you must find it rather difficult to comprehend. In short~,” digressing.
Because of that, the explanation gets disordered and derailed, making the contents difficult to understand. The only thing I get from it is that Nanashino is bad at explaining things.
“To sum up, when you use ‘World Intervention (System Command)’ to activate a magic, followed by certain words; as long as you wish for something that is clear to some extent so that the world gets it, that wish will come into existence as magic.” (Nanashino)
“If the 10 minutes or so explanation can be completed in one sentence, just say that from the very beginning…!” (Sakura)
Grr, I kept listening to him because I thought I might miss some important information or get experience points like in the class, but it turned out that the explanation was basically only something he did so that he could act condescendingly, and it didn’t give me any experience points.
Still, I would like someone to praise me for just training to improve my balancing ability by standing on one leg without practice-swinging, and without attacking the guy in front of me.
I would flip if the topic gets derailed because of extra story again— I don’t know whether he had guessed that I, who is glaring at him, have such thought, but he opens his mouth with a satisfied look,
“Now, if you’re wondering what those certain words are, they should be quite familiar to you.” (Nanashino)
“Familiar to me?” (Sakurai)
“They can allow anyone to easily become stronger in the game world, and also have many applications and types.” (Nanashino)
Having said that, Nanami innocently leaked an evil smile like he has managed to pull off a prank, and says,
“They are ‘Event Tampering (Cheat Code)’! The highest privilege that only we, players, are allowed to use!” (Nanashino)
