Rebirth: Never Live Up to You - C43
After walking past an intersection, she entered a coffee shop. When she entered, she discovered that the space inside was not very large, it had the feel of a Chinese tea shop, but the decorations were unique. She ordered a latte and sat next to the window, holding it with one hand while looking out the window while she stirred the coffee with the other.
The owner was a blond foreign woman in her forties who was busy making coffee behind a counter in a white apron. She had no other customers but the owner, who had made many cups and placed them on the table, asked her curiously why she cooked so much.
She told her to make a cup of coffee that tasted different, and this was the first time she heard it, so she went over to it curiously. There was a row of coffees on the table, and she drank them one by one, her mouth full of bitter taste.
“Are you here for a trip?” The owner asked her in French, and she smiled and nodded and leaned over the counter to watch her make coffee. It was really very skillful, but she was lazy and didn’t have the patience to learn it.
“Is there anything delicious around here?”
As a foodie, she came out to look for food. The boss told her a few places and she wrote them down on a piece of paper. Then she left the coffee shop and went straight to the first place.
When Chi Yinan called her at the branch office, no one answered. Thinking that she was sleeping, his brows relaxed as he opened the door to the hotel room, but she was nowhere to be seen. The room was empty, glasses of water lying alone on the white table, and the quilt on the bed proved that she had indeed come back.
His phone rang on the sofa. Chi Yinan hung up and walked out while pulling his hair.
He was eating local food in a small restaurant. The first thing he thought of when he noticed that he didn’t have his phone was Chi Yinan. Hopefully, he wasn’t back home by then, or else he would be scolded again.
She walked out of the store and prepared to take a taxi back. It had been a sunny day just now, but it had suddenly started drizzling and she was only wearing a thin coat. The wind was mixed with drizzling rain and her clothes were gradually getting wet.
It was after work time, so it wasn’t easy to find a taxi. She also found a serious problem, which was that she didn’t know the name of the hotel. When she got out, she didn’t want to go too far, so she tried to recall the name of the place.
Chi Yinan waited in the hotel lobby for almost an hour, but no one came. He stood up and looked out the window at the drizzle outside. The window was opened, and the drizzle floated in and stained his clothes.
“Boss, the tape over there shows that Madam left the door and turned right. She didn’t call a taxi, so she shouldn’t be far away.”
The color in Chi Yinan’s eyes deepened as he heard this. He held the car key tightly and said, “Notify me as soon as you get back.” Then he walked quickly out of the hall.
She couldn’t remember the name of the hotel. When the taxi driver asked her where she was going, she told him the name of the coffee shop. Fortunately, it wasn’t too far from the hotel.
She had never been this embarrassed before. When she opened her wallet to pay, she found that there was only RMB and no euros inside. She had already used up all the euros that Chi Yinan had given her earlier.
After the initial awkwardness was resolved, she smiled and said, “Thank you for getting off the car.” She then entered the coffee shop again. The owner was still making coffee behind the counter. He saw her friendly smile and passed her a tissue and umbrella.
Being in a foreign land was really touching. She planned to bring Chi Yinan to support her and leave the coffee shop tomorrow. The rain outside did not stop, and she was still floating tirelessly. She wrapped herself up tightly and walked back the way she came.
As time passed, he looked at the red light in front of him, and as the night deepened, the thin mist grew thicker and thicker. He shamefully found himself in a state of panic, and that indescribable sense of powerlessness spread through his body, hiding a sense of worry in each of his relaxed pores.
There were still three seconds before the red light, and he was about to start the car when a woman rushed out from the sidewalk in front of him, holding a large black umbrella over her upper body, and trotted over the zebra crossing.
Su Wenjin prayed that Chi Yinan hadn’t returned to the hotel yet, but when he got off the car, the first thought in his mind was to escape. Su Wenjin prayed that Chi Yinan still hadn’t returned to the hotel, but when he opened the car door and got off, the first thought in his mind was to escape.
Chi Yinan looked at her hair blown by the wind without saying a word. He took the umbrella from her and touched her ice-cold hand. The flame in his stomach finally found a gap to vent.
In the car.
She took off her jacket and held it in her hand. Next, a black suit came down from above her head, carrying a warm body temperature and a light fragrance. Chi Yinan was still driving with a sullen expression, not looking at her, but she put on his clothes, saw his tense expression, and knew that tonight was going to be a miserable night.
He opened the car door and led the way without looking at her. She nodded to him and followed him upstairs in his baggy, knee-length suit, probably so angry that he didn’t even wait for her at the elevator. She took another lift.
The door to the room was ajar. She pushed open the door, but didn’t see him. When she heard the sound of water in the bathroom, she finally let out a sigh of relief. It was better to be tortured later.
She took off his coat and hung it on the shelf. Then she poured a cup of hot water and carried it to the balcony. It was raining outside, but she didn’t go out.
Chi Yinan took a quick shower. He was still thinking about that woman outside. He couldn’t find a place to vent his anger, so he kept it in his heart. It was as if fire would come from his mouth whenever he talked.
“Put on your slippers.”
Chi Yinan’s voice was very cold and heavy. The hand holding the cup trembled, and hot water spilled onto the floor. Luckily, he didn’t splash it on the back of his hand, and instead, he tiptoed out a pair of slippers from under the coffee table and put them on, smiling at him fawningly.
“I’m in the wrong today. I’ll definitely bring my phone next time I go out.” She raised her hand above her head, her eyes bright, her face set in a fawning smile, and her slender hand tugged at the sleeve of his nightshirt.
Chi Yinan was not indifferent. His eyes moved, and he paused his hand that was about to reach for his sleeve. She had already taken a step forward and hung half of her body on his body.
“I’m too busy today, so I’ll take you out for a walk tomorrow.”
She had made all sorts of preparations, even when they were arguing. The only thing she did not expect was to end the conversation with a single sentence. She could not believe what she had heard, and then she heard him say, “Where have you been today? Have you eaten a lot of good food?”
She nodded and patted her plump belly. She had indeed eaten a lot of delicious food. “Tomorrow, I’ll take you to a coffee shop. It’s very nice.” After she finished speaking, she released his sleeve and stepped into the bathroom with her slippers. Chi Yinan touched his cold sleeve and shook his head with a smile.
She soaked in the bathtub and massaged for about half an hour before she finally went out. The lights in the bedroom were turned off, and only the glazed lamp by the bed was left. He seemed to be sleeping under the covers, but she didn’t turn on the lights.
She let him carry her to the bathroom to wash up, then went back to the big bed and fell into a deep sleep almost as soon as he tightly wrapped her. She was too tired, and every time she died a small death, and her body was unusually tired.
The next day, she woke up very late, and Chi Yinan was no longer awake, probably busy with his work. She wrapped herself in the quilt and turned over to where he was sleeping, lying on the pillow he had slept on, touching her belly as she looked at the white ceiling.
“If you’re awake, then wake up. I’ll take you out for a walk today.”
Suddenly, there were voices. She was shocked. Chi Yinan came in from outside with his phone. He had gone out to make a phone call. Thinking of what happened last night, she rolled up her blanket in displeasure and prepared to sleep for a while.
“I’m tired now. Warm Jin, you have to train harder.” He said it in an ambiguous manner.
She immediately rolled up the blanket and rolled into the bed. He grabbed her and carried her in his arms. His enlarged handsome face was right in front of her. He was obviously in a good mood and had a very deep smile on his face.
“Lukewarm Jin, didn’t you say that you want to take me to drink coffee?”
How could Chi Yinan not be able to do what he wanted to do? She was forcefully dug out of bed by him. He arranged for her to wear clothes and eat breakfast. He then drove her around in his car.
The morning air in Paris was fresh, last night’s rain had stopped, the sky was gray, there was always a sign of rain, the ground was still wet, the temperature had dropped a few degrees, the clothes she had brought were too thin for warmth, she had really hit the nail on the head.
Chi Yinan really did have a lot of money, but she didn’t want to spend it as much as she wanted.
