Rebirth: Never Live Up to You - C52
She watched him walk out onto the terrace with his cell phone in his hand. She sat down on the sofa, crossed her legs, and buried her face in them.
Chi Yinan took the call and saw her pitiful appearance. His tensed face slowly relaxed. This woman was his wife, someone who wanted to walk with him for a lifetime. He found that he was looking forward to it.
The sofa sagged, and his big hands touched her hair. He kissed the top of her head, then wrapped his arms around her and lifted her from under his knees to the bed.
She didn’t open her eyes at all. She let him carry her to the big bed and covered her with the blanket. Chi Yinan watched her pretending to be asleep for a long time before he got up and went into the study.
She opened her eyes and stared stupidly at the ceiling, remembering something she had once read in a book. Because we are all human beings, we all make mistakes.
He had always liked Su Wenjin as his wife and had never said anything about letting them get divorced. However, he had sternly reprimanded them on the phone earlier that if they couldn’t get divorced, then they would divorce. It was just a quarrel, but their father had actually tried to persuade them to get divorced.
Chi Yinan opened the drawer. There was a divorce agreement inside, the one they had the most quarrelling with each other. Su Wenjin had typed it out, and it was the old man who had spoken in the end.
But they were married, and he wouldn’t let that happen.
Su Wenjin was not in the mood to pretend, so she ate her dinner hastily and went upstairs. Seeing that she had left her chopsticks behind, Chi Yinan also had no appetite. After drinking a bowl of soup, he followed her upstairs.
When Chi Yinan returned from his shower next door, he had already fallen asleep with his blanket wrapped around her. It was obvious that he didn’t want to see him. He turned off the lights, leaving behind a dim wall lamp and lifted the blanket.
When she felt the huge bed sink in, she immediately felt the man’s warm body pressing down on her. The blanket that was wrapped around her was lifted, and she felt a cold sensation on her shoulder. She then opened her eyes in displeasure.
She rubbed herself against his chest and found a comfortable position. After a long time, she murmured, “I didn’t mean to see him.” Subconsciously, she found that she still wanted to explain.
Although it was just a few short words, it could be considered an explanation. Chi Yinan’s heart dropped at that moment as he caressed her messy hair and kissed the top of his head, “I believe you.”
This was their fastest cold war. Chi Yinan was in a good mood, so after loving her for a while, he carried her to the bathroom to wash up. By the time they got back to bed, it was already close to 11 o’clock.
She did not open her eyes, but found a comfortable place in his arms and fell into a deep sleep.
The day he had fought with Lin Jingsheng, he had been depressed. The reason was because he had unfortunately been hit in the face by Lin Jingsheng’s fist the day he joined the battle. His cheekbones had turned green, and it had been several days since his mood had improved, so naturally he wasn’t in a good mood.
It was on the third day that Su Wenjin met Lu Ziyun. He Dongyan’s birthday was that day, so no matter what, she, as his sister-in-law, had to go congratulate him.
Chi Yinan first took her to the clubhouse to eat something early before driving over. He said that most of the time, they were drinking, so he didn’t know when they could leave.
Never before had she noticed that Chi Yinan was so meticulous as to sit in the car sipping the milk tea he had bought. She tugged at her skirt until it reached her ankles.
He Dongyan wasn’t much younger than Chi Yinan, and those who were familiar with him knew that this might be his last birthday. However, what she was curious about was that her girlfriend hadn’t shown up tonight.
“Su Wenjin, have you two made up?” She was sitting in the most hidden corner, and it was too noisy outside. The male and female voices were noisy, and she felt a headache coming on. She glanced at Lu Ziruo’s unruly appearance and asked, “What’s wrong, the wound on your face hasn’t healed yet?”
“Don’t try to change the topic. Who is it because of? If you don’t want to see him, you have to meet him. If you don’t want to kill him, you’ll be lucky.” After Lu Ziyun had spoken so much, he suddenly realized what kind of stand he was taking. He took a sip of his wine and shut his mouth in embarrassment.
She suddenly realized that he had lost all strength, and she smacked her lips. “Can’t I apologize?”
“I don’t care.”
“Pull it down.”
When he realized what was happening, he immediately retreated backwards. The red wine in the glass spilled all over his body, and the red liquid seeped through the white shirt in front of his chest. He cursed and pinched it, then glared at her before heavily tossing the glass into the bathroom.
Chi Yinan was playing mahjong in the ring. After a few laps, he suddenly raised his head and realized that there was no trace of a woman. He gave his spot to He Dongyan: “Make a few laps for me.”
Chi Yinan had found her in the furthest corner. At that time, there were several women talking to her. From the looks of it, they seemed to be impatient.
“Yi Nan, over here.” Su Wenjin admitted that he called her so cordially, but the women in front of him were too noisy and they didn’t know each other. However, they did know Xu Bing, and they even called her Sister Bing.
Chi Yinan was half a beat faster than Yi Nan. His chest suddenly jumped up and down. The smile on his face told Shi Yan how happy he was right now.
“Do you know these ladies?”
Hearing this, Chi Yinan looked over with his dark eyes, with a smile that was not a smile: “I wonder who let him in, I’ll have Dongyan check the name list later.”
The women’s faces turned white. They stuttered and wanted to say something, but were interrupted by Chi Yinan, “Don’t disturb Mrs. Chi. I don’t need to tell you where the door is.”
She squinted at the fleeing women and wanted to laugh, but she couldn’t. Chi Yinan bent down to pick her up, then he sat down on the sofa, while she sat on his lap and nestled in his arms.
“A sharp tongue like hers is being bullied by them?”
This was obviously mocking at her lack of skill. She got a little angry and hit his chin with her head. He groaned in pain, but his face was raised in delight.
“Wan-Jin, are you jealous? I have nothing to do with Xu Bing.”
He took her hand and looked. As soon as he said those words, he knew that he knew them. He pinched his chin in displeasure. “Didn’t you say that he didn’t know them?”
“I only said who let them in?”
“You quibble!”
“Heh heh ~ ~”
At this moment, she didn’t even realize that she was flirting with him. The atmosphere between them was so harmonious that they even took the initiative to hug each other’s neck. When she realized that she wanted to take them down, Chi Yinan immediately pressed a kiss on the back of her head.
Lu Ziyun stood in the crowd looking at the affectionate couple in the distance, his mind suddenly blanked out. He turned around, raked his hair, turned around, and left with a woman in his arms.
They were the first to leave at night. He Dongyan gave her a meaningful glance when he saw them out. Chi Yinan carried her in his arms and wore his suit coat. The long coat was dragged all the way down to her thighs, making her look comical.
Outside the clubhouse, Chi Yinan drove back to the creek sea, where he parked in the garage. She got off the station early and waited for him in the yard, looking at the lights in the house. It was already eleven o’clock in the evening.
When Chi Yinan came out of the garage, he saw that the lights in the house were still on, so he held her and walked towards the door.
He took the key from his pants pocket and opened the door. When he opened it, he heard his father-in-law Chi Xiongtian’s deep voice. They looked at each other.
“Dad, why are you so late?”
She followed closely behind Chi Yinan, taking off his coat and holding it in her hands. She also called out to her father, and when Auntie Xue saw that they were back, she poured two cups of tea. It was getting late, so she took the tea and let Auntie Xue go back first.
“Why are you back so late? “Hehe, come to dad’s side.”
Chi Hongtian had always been strict with Chi Yinan, but he had always been kind and amiable towards his daughter-in-law. She looked at Chi Yinan who was standing there, then she sat beside her father-in-law, poured more tea into his empty cup.
“Today is He Dongyan’s Day, let’s go over and celebrate. I don’t know dad is here today, otherwise, we have to come back early to show dad a bit.”
“This is all my fault for coming here so suddenly. Haha, I don’t need to show off my skills, otherwise, when I go back your grandma would probably say that I’m being too arrogant.” Chi Hongtian glanced at his son who was still standing, then looked at his wife who was beaming with smiles. He sighed in his heart and asked them about their recent life situation without showing any emotion on his face.
“Dad, don’t worry about me and Wen Jin, we’ll go back and visit the old man in a few days.” Chi Yinan knew that his father was still skeptical because of their quarrel last time, and it was the only time. His father would divorce him if he couldn’t. He didn’t advise him against it at all.
“I didn’t ask you, Wan-Jin, tell me, is your life going to go on?”
Su Wenjin was surprised that her father-in-law suddenly asked her such a question in front of Chi Yinan. She subconsciously looked at Chi Yinan and found that he was looking at her with a passionate gaze, which made it obvious his intention to ask her a question.
“Dad, we’re fine, it’s normal for couples to quarrel, it’s just that we’ve alarmed you guys and made you worry. Yi Nan is very nice, she’s more considerate than before.” What she said was true. Chi Yinan was a lot more considerate than before. Although he didn’t have a good temper, it wasn’t something that could be changed overnight. He started to care about her thoughts.
Since his daughter-in-law said so, he didn’t say anything more. After drinking the tea, he got up: “It’s getting late, I’m going now. Come back more time to see.”
She and Chi Yinan walked him out of the courtyard. On the way, a black car had already stopped, and the driver got out of the car and opened the door, watching as the car turned around and out of sight. Chi Yinan pulled her back, a few cups scattered on the coffee table, and rolled up her sleeves to wash them in the water before putting them on a plate. When she finished, Chi Yinan was leaning against the wall and looking at her.
“What are you looking at? It’s already time for you to go take a bath.”
When Chi Yinan heard this, he crossed his arms over his chest and walked closer step by step. He held her tightly and carried her in his arms amidst screams. Step by step, he walked towards his bedroom.
The days flowed by like flowing water. She saw the changes in Chi Yinan day by day in her eyes. She also thought that she would rather live a life like this than reject him like before. She touched the patterns on her bag and got up, thinking that it was time for her to leave.
