Rebirth Of An 8000 Years Old Mage - 49 Mock Tournament Part I
Before the second stage of the mock exam finally ended with the loud announcement of the elder, Xiao Yang and the rest managed to obtain a sufficient amount of elemental cores to pass the exam.
Feeling pity and a bit guilty, they decided to leave two A-Class King-Tier elemental cores for the young man who was still unconscious when the exam ended.
The two cores were just enough for him to pass since the academy would just recognize the two King-Tier cores as a normal A-Class core.
They decided to leave the King-Tier core and not the normal one because the market price for a King-Tier core is much lesser than the regular core of the same class.
This was due to the berserk nature of the energy stored in King-Tier cores, making it harder and much more painful for mages to absorb the elemental essence from it.
Many mages would opt in to absorb a regular type elemental core than a King-Tier since there ain’t any benefit in doing so; maximum points gainable is still ten.
…
As per rules, the students were all given three days to rest after reporting their gains, and the result was quickly announced at the end by the elders.
Out of the 534 students who participate in the second stage beast hunting exam, only 215 students managed to obtain the required amount of elemental cores at the end. If this was the real final year exam, then at least 319 would have been disqualified by now.
The result, however, didn’t really come as a surprise, since everyone knew that the elders had put a limit on the number of beasts available to be hunted in the forest, making it more competitive.
So without wasting any time, the student all went into seclusion to replenish their mana, practice their martial arts or absorb the compatible elemental cores that they might have obtained from the hunting.
…
Like a blink of an eye, three days had quickly past by and the students once again assembled at the assembly ground, before they were all led to an open tournament ground.
In the tournament ground, there is six separate rectangle battle stage, each battle stage is 50 meters long, 25 meters wide and was levelled a meter above the ground.
There was at least one S-Class elder standing by each battle stage, their job was to monitor the battle between the students and to immediately stop the fight if the student is threatened with heavy injury by an attack.
There were also four elders standing by at a raised platform, looking over the entire tournament ground, they all wield the elemental power of healing at B-Class, though they also wield other elemental power at a higher class.
Standing between those four elders, was an elemental beast that looked to be some sort of large bird but its mouth was like that of a sea horse.
It doesn’t take a genius to guess that the beast is a healing type, many could tell that the beast was an A-Class.
Many pondered how the academy had managed to tame the beast. There were no visible slave marks on the beast, meaning that the only possible reason is that the beast has some sort of mutual relationship with the academy.
Perhaps the beast was born from an elemental beast egg obtained by the academy, such egg would be extremely expensive, especially it’s elemental class and it’s elemental power.
Many continental nations would rage war to obtain one, but of course, raging war against Thunderbolt Academy would lead to war against all of its backers.
When Xiao Yang arrived at the tournament ground, he saw many people gazing up at a specific direction with an astonishing expression.
Xiao Yang cast toward the direction they were all facing and quickly found a large green-jade looking crystal shard floating in the air as if gravity never existed in the first place.
Xiao Yang quickly recognizes that the green-jade looking crystal shard was a display tablet made from rare and expensive Magnetic-Jade that is mined from the worlds inside the elemental portals.
The jade tablet had a smooth and polished flat surface on one side, while all the other three were rough like the surface of an old crusty tree.
On the flat surface of the display, the tablet was embedded with words written in golden thread-like material that could be erased and changed at any time.
The words were so small that it would have been impossible for a human to see the writings from such a distance, but for some reason, when the students gaze towards the display tablet, their vision suddenly zoomed in, it was as if their eyes were right in front of it.
On the very top of the tablet displayed the rules;
I) Killing is prohibited.
II) The use of Talisman is prohibited.
III) Mages who are depleted of mana will automatically lose the next round.
IV) Martial Arts that could damage or cripple elemental souls are prohibited.
V) No fighting is allowed after the battle is announced to have ended.

The part below the rules is a leaderboard showcasing the number reference of the student along with their current rank, as well as the current battle that is taking place, but currently, it’s all empty.
Every student has received an identification badge at the beginning of the year, each badge has a unique identification number. This is anonymous to the others except for the elders of the academy.
As a result, many students decided to wear a mask to hide their identity for unknown reasons, the elders didn’t care about it since the end result will be the same.
