Rebirth Of The Entertainment Giant - 183 Misunderstanding
Without hesitation, Zhang Xiaohua immediately made a decision…
Since they can poach artists why can’t we.
“Manager Xu, immediately draft an agreement deal for Du Chengyi to leave New Century.”
There was surprise all over Du Chengyi’s face. His pair of grateful eyes stared at Zhang Xiaohua with joy.
Since joining New Century, Du Chengyi had only released a couple of songs.
After he signed, New Century Entertainment had faced a business crisis. Except for the first-rate artists the rest were suspended or had their projects put on hold.
At the time, as a third-rate artist, Du Chengyi was abandoned, for two consecutive years he did not receive a task. In short, he was forgotten by New Century Entertainment. Even after they had recovered New Century hadn’t called back some of its artists, it had replaced some of them instead.
Du Chengyi wanted to leave for another entertainment company in the past, singing was his passion and he still had to support his family.
Unfortunately, he had signed a contract with New Century Entertainment, so he couldn’t leave.
He was trapped and they weren’t even providing him work or any support. They shelved him and refused to let him leave.
Du Chengyi had put in a request to leave multiple times but all he received was a notice to pay 1 million in cancellation fees.
Naturally he was unable to pay this fee and in order to survive Du Chengyi had to find work to support himself. But he was lacking in credentials and qualifications so it was hard for him to find work and every month, he had to send 70% of his money to his family back home to support them. The rest was his living expenses. Although it wasn’t enough to live in luxury it enough to survive, if he lived a basic lifestyle.
“Boss…I…” Du Chengyi was both happy and moved. He wanted to say something to Zhang Xiaohua, but he didn’t know what to say.
“You don’t have to say anything; I only ask for one thing. Loyalty.” Zhang Xiaohua said with a stern face.
Du Chengyi replied in turn very seriously: “Boss Zhang can rely on me, I swear that this kindness you have shown me will never be forgotten !”
Zhang Xiaohua laughed and didn’t speak. Some things couldn’t be believed just because they were spoken but looking at Du Chengyi he had hope.
In a short while, Xu Fengnian returned to Zhang Xiaohua’s office with the newly completed agreement “I have already drafted the cancellation agreement?”
Zhang Xiaohua smiled: “I’m always relieved when you handle tasks because I know they’ll be handled with finesse. This time I have to trouble Manager Xu to go to New Century and represent our company. Dismiss all matters concerning cooperation between them and Du Chengyi.”
“This time you are the protagonist; I’ll find a lawyer to accompany you. Let New Century know that we also have lawyers.” Zhang Xiaohua said with a smile.
“I know; I will contact Guangming Law Firm to send over a lawyer to join me at New Century Entertainment.” said Xu Fengnian.
“Wait a moment…”
Zhang Xiaohua suddenly stopped Xu Fengnian then picked up the phone and called Lawyer Zhuang. He asked: “Hello, yes it’s Zhang Xiaohua, how’s Zhao Zilin doing with you, is everything okay?”
…
Guangming Law Firm. Zhuang Wentian’s office,
Zhao Zilin was stood at Zhuang Wentian’s desk, holding a pack of documents in her hand, seemingly preparing to report to Zhuang Wentian.
Receiving the call from Zhang Xiaohua. Zhuang Wentian temporarily covered the phone with his hand and said to Zhao Zilin in front of him: “Head out first, I have to take this call.”
Zhao Zilin nodded and even left the office.
Zhuang Wentian then replied to Zhang Xiaohua at the other end of the phone: “Boss Zhang can rest assured. I have already arranged everything for Miss Zhao. Currently Miss Zhao is my personal assistant.”
“Personal assistant?” Zhang Xiaohua frowned: “She has her MBA and came from studying in one of the most prestigious schools in the world such a good talent and you actually placed her as your secretary? Why didn’t you position her as a lawyer?”
Listening to Zhang Xiaohua’s onslaught, Zhuang Wentian rushed to explain: “Boss Zhang said that Miss Zhao was your girlfriend? Miss Zhao hasn’t got experience in Huaxian courts yet and our system here is vastly different to those abroad. Also I was trying to keep her work load down.”
“…..” Zhang Xiaohua said in a moment. He did say to Zhuang Wentian that Zhao Zilin was his girlfriend. The purpose was that Zhuang Wentian would value her and give her more chances not shelf her and get her fetching paper.
Zhang Xiaohua knew that she was a very stubborn woman, not to mention that she had studied abroad for so many years, she would certainly have a lot of ambition after returning to Huaxia. However, now she was acting as someone else’s secretary.
…
Zhao Zilin stood waiting outside the office waiting for Zhuang Wentian’s summons.
Under the cold eyes of colleagues, they were filled with jealousy and discontent.
“We are just a small-scale law firm. Lawyer Zhuang barely has anything to do all day. Why would he need a secretary and she usually only helps pour water, and occasionally helps sort out the documents, but I heard from HR her monthly salary is like 30,000 yuan!”
“Worse than that, I also heard that Lawyer Zhuang rented a house for her, and the rent for a month is tens of thousands!”
“Other than being slightly pretty, what are her abilities?”
“I never expected Lawyer Zhuang to be such a man he acts so astute and righteous; you really can’t judge a book by its cover. What is the age difference does anyone know?”
” I can see why he likes her; she is beautiful but not 30,000 yuan a month beautiful.”
“Hahaha true that, oh sh*t I think she just looked over everyone quickly pretend you’re doing work.”
…..
These rumours had been circulating for a while now, at the beginning she was filled with indignation and tried to explain but all she got was the cold shoulder and looks of mockery.
She had been requesting to work as a lawyer since then, it didn’t matter what the case was she just wanted to prove her ability, but she was rejected by Zhuang Wentian over and over again. The reason being she should focus on laying a good foundation for the future.
Zhao Zilin had no choice but to follow Zhuang Wentian’s intentions. Perhaps soon, Zhuang Wentian would give her a chance to show her strength.
As for the gossip, Zhao Zilin was used to it. She only hoped that one day she could make achievements and shut her colleagues up for good.
