Rebirth of the Evil Mother-In-Law - Chapter 396
Chapter 396 – “To our future” (2) (finale)
The grandmaster said, “All we did was send it out of the body. It seemed that she had been cursed and her spirit was gone.”
Fang JunRong pondered a bit and said, “It seemed like I heard someone reciting a spell next to my ear earlier. It was very irritating but it stopped after a short while.”
The grandmaster said definitively, “That was because the curse was reflected back. Most likely the person casting the spell used her as the replacement so the curse that was bounced back would hit her instead. Her spirit was already weak and, with the backfiring of the curse, she was gone for good.”
Thinking that the girl that had acted so lively and simple around her this entire time was actually someone so ruthless scared Liang Feng after the fact. She shook her head and said, “She brought it onto herself in a way.”
Their intention was only to get her out; not to kill her. It was the curse that she wanted placed on Fang JunRong that was reflected back on her. There wasn’t anything that anyone could do and it was difficult to feel bad for someone like that.
The grandmaster continued to say, “The black cloud from earlier was her hatred that remained behind her.”
They all looked over at Fang JunRong’s turtle. Nobody would believe that it was just an ordinary turtle any more after they had witnessed it eating the black cloud.
Kuaikuai, the turtle, crawled over to Fang JunRong and clawed her on her pants.
It wasn’t until now that Fang JunRong noticed that she was still holding onto Jiang DeXian’s hand. She quickly let go of him, pulled out a peach from her purse casually, and offered it to Kuaikuai as a reward. With her current status, she would be able to protect Kuaikuai and she no longer worried about its special ability being known to the others.
The grandmaster took a look at Kuaikuai and said, “Treat this turtle nicely. It has collected the mystical qifrom heaven and earth and has the ability to defeat evilness.”
He was very tempted about the turtle but he did not ask for it. A mystical creature like that would pick their own owner. It was without a doubt that the turtle recognized Fang JunRong as its owner. It would not end well should anyone try to take it away from her.
Kong Shuang didn’t care about the turtle. Her precious daughter was all she cared about. She quickly walked up and untied her daughter. Her voice filled with worries. “Grandmaster, when will my daughter wake up?”
“Soon.”
Liang AnQi opened up her eyes right after the grandmaster had finished talking and she had a blank look on her.
“Mom.” Her mother was the first person that she saw. Then, looking around, she was at a strange place surrounded by a bunch of strangers. She scooted closer to her mother reflexively as she was the person that provided her with a sense of security.
“Mom. What is this place? I seemed to have a very long dream.”
Seeing the familiar look had returned on her daughter, Kong Shuang couldn’t help but ran up, threw her arms around her daughter, and started bawling in front of everyone.
Her most important daughter had finally returned.
Fang JunRong, too, had a gratifying smile on her when she saw that.
As someone who also had a daughter, she could relate to what Kong Shuang was feeling right now. When Kong Shuang finally calmed down, she quickly thanked everyone. She would never have been able to get her daughter back if it wasn’t for them.
Kong Shuang left shortly with her daughter and promised that she would treat them to dinner after her daughter had recovered.
Fang JunRong quite liked her and agreed to it. She had planned to take off with Liang Feng originally but now that food had been delivered and that Jiang DeXian had ordered dishes that she liked, she decided to stay. She was hungry, might as well eat some.
“This place’s stir-fried lettuce is quite good. They are quite crispy.” Fang JunRong said to Jiang DeXian after she was done eating.
Jiang DeXian didn’t eat a lot tonight. Looking at Fang JunRong, he said, “Liang AnQi said a lot to me about the future. We both lived well in that future.”
Fang JunRong knew what Jiang DeXian meant by that. He was telling her that what Liang AnQi knew very well would be the future of this world.
“Would you like to know?” There was a hint of a smile in his eyes and apparently he was anticipating her to ask.
Fang JunRong smiled and said, “No, not really.”
Jiang DeXian’s lips twitched. He then saw Fang JunRong said in a casually tone, “If it is something that will greatly threaten our lives, I am sure you will tell me even if I don’t ask, right?”
Her tone was calm and definitive.
“If it was just some minor events, then I don’t need to know them ahead of time.”
She made a silent gesture with her hand. “It won’t be fun anymore if I know them all. We need to leave some surprises in life, no?”
Jiang DeXian smiled too, “You are right.”
Fang JunRong took a sip of the red wine and suddenly asked, “How far ahead of time did Liang AnQi know?”
Jiang DeXian recalled their conversation and said after thinking it through, “A couple of years from now.”
Fang JunRong nodded. “Okay, I think I get it. We are probably still not dating then, which would explain your reaction right now?”
Jiang DeXian, “……”
He hadn’t even said anything and Fang JunRong had more or less gotten everything from him.
Fang JunRong’s lips curved a little and there was a rare sly smile in her eyes. “I had been contemplating whether to give you a chance recently but now I think we can just go with the original timeline.” If he wanted to pursue her, he needed to show her more sincerity.
Jiang DeXian now knew what it meant by putting one’s foot into one’s mouth.
After feeling slightly dispirited, he, too, smiled. At least she was willing to give him a chance, right? Compared to not even having the opportunity in his previous life, he already had it pretty good this time around. Besides, he already had one up on his competitors.
He, too, lifted up his wine glass and toasted Fang JunRong’s. “To our future.”
