Rebirth of the Evil Mother-In-Law - Chapter 422
Chapter 422 – This must be real love. (1)
Zhong Yi’s lips twitched. She knew that Ren DongZhi was from a well-off family. She could tell that from the way he normally dressed. But him being able to secure resources like this meant that he was from no ordinary family. When she recalled how she thought he was asking for unspoken favor earlier, Zhong Yi only wished that she could transmigrate back and kill her old, crazy self.
She felt that her cheeks were burning but she pretended that nothing was going on. “This is a very good opportunity. Do your best and don’t let Director Gu down.”
She felt that her cheeks were still burning some even after she had walked out of the office. Zhong Yi had a good memory and she recalled what Ren DongZhi had once said.
“I know that you are not the kind who’d expect unspoken favor from the candidates. That being said, I would be very happy if that happens.”
No way……
Zhong Yi wasn’t sure how she was feeling at the moment. She felt a sort of achiness mixed in with a hint of sweetness.
“Sister Zhong.”
A voice pulled her back to reality. Zhong Yi recollected herself and saw Liu Gao, a singer who she had signed just a little while ago. He was a few months younger than her and had always referred to her as Sister Zhong. Liu Gao had debuted a while back and had been popular for a while as well. Later on, as he refused to play along and attend banquets, he had been blocked for a few years and felt straight to an 18th-tier singer. Zhong Yi decided to sign him on after she learned of the incident. She had been looking for work for him as well and had him sing an opening song for a show on satellite television.
“What’s the matter?” asked Zhong Yi.
Liu Gao smiled and said, “I just want to say thank you for the opportunity that Sister Zhong had provided for me.”
Zhong Yi comforted him some. “Work hard. Opportunities are for those who work hard. Your opportunity will come.” She had a lot of faith in Liu Gao.
With the interruption from Liu Gao, Zhong Yi’s romantic idea was suppressed all over again. She was responsible for the future of many and she had no room for errors.
Ren DongZhi expressed that his inspirations only came late at night, so he would stay behind composing when Zhong Yi had to work late. Zhong Yi would review contracts and type away on her keyboard in guitar music.
When she felt uncomfortable during that time of the month, Ren DongZhi would have hand warmers ready for her before she even noticed it herself.
He always had the type of gummies that she liked in his pocket and would hand them to her when she had low blood pressure when she forgot to have breakfast occasionally.
Zhong Yi wasn’t a stone. Instead of sweet nothings, fresh flowers, and luxurious cars, she had much less resistance to these kinds of tender caring. The atmosphere between the two became more suggestive.
As his agent, however, it was difficult for her to overcome the mental hump of dating the singer that was under her wing. At the same time, Director Gu’s science fiction movie was a big hit and reset the box office records a few times after it aired.
It was the second best domestic movie in Chinese history. As the singer who sang the theme, opening, and closing songs, Ren DongZhi’s popularity had also shot up to the highest point and he became a top-tier singer.
He rode that train and released his new album. That, too, was a big hit and had set all sorts of records.
Zhong Yi followed up with that and arranged a domestic concert tour for Ren DongZhi.
At their final stop, however, the stage had collapsed, causing Ren DongZhi to fall. It was not serious but he still needed to rest up for a month. As he had been busy for a while, Zhong Yi considered that a temporary time off for him. She transferred part of her responsibilities to someone else and freed up the time to take care of Ren DongZhi. And, at the same time, started looking into the cause of the accident.
