Reborn As A Blade Of Grass, I Become The Companion Of A Goddess - Chapter 21
“Bishop, what did you just say? The west continent?” asked the child.
“It’s not important for you to know or worry about. Just follow along.” The bishop frowned slightly and tried to prevaricate. He did not want to be questioned by the child the entire way.
He had not expected such a thing to happen to them when they entered the forbidden area. He might be the bishop but even he was not strong enough to simply open up a portal to return to their continent.
But he was not desperate to anyway. Rather, he was excited to explore what this continent had to offer. He just wasn’t sure of the ability of the cultivators in this place.
If they were weak but had different magical treasures compared to their continent, this trip would be worth it.
Unfortunately, they were still walking through this mountain forest after days and had yet to encounter any humans. If this was the reality of this continent, then the desolate beasts here were probably even better than the humans. They probably would not even have to use their soul rings to cultivate.
The bishop could not help but smile as he thought of this. He started to develop a reason to believe that they were more powerful than those of this continent and was confident that they would be worshipped here.
And meeting a peak-level cultivator with terrifying abilities would be all the more beneficial to them. It would be too boring if every single person here was weak.
Even though he had never been to this ancient mountain forest, he could see the mountain peaks rising into the clouds and the rare heavenly trees.
As excited as he was about the prospect of conquering this continent, his first task, if they encountered a cultivator here, was to ask about the ancient teleportation array formation.
Teleportation array formations usually worked both ways. If there was one that sent them here, there should be one here that would send them back.
Not long after, they noticed a tribal village in the distance.
It was called a tribe because of the living environment of this continent. It definitely did not look worthy to be called a form of civilization.
Regardless, they were the group’s best bet at getting answers.
The group approached the village casually and started to attract the attention of the children who had been playing outside.
The children quickly ran back to the village while shouting.
“Outsiders have arrived!”
“Outsiders? Do they mean people from a foreign land of the same continent or do they also know that there are other continents beyond theirs?” The bishop wondered what the children meant but he didn’t dwell on it too much.
Now that they were about to meet other people, their problems were soon to be solved.
But receiving Outsiders wasn’t that strange for those who lived in the Great Wastelands. In fact, many people from other continents would be teleported to the Great Wastelands by ‘accident’ – through an unknown opening or cave in the barren mountains, a sudden crack in the sky, or an unknowing person simply taking in a single breath.
The people of the Great Wastelands referred to those who came here from other continents as ‘Outsiders’ – they were people too but each different kinds of cultivations.
The people of the Great Wastelands had also visited the other continents before.
The world was vast and endless with complicated laws, but continents can still intersect.
Today was a particularly festive day for Sand Eagle Tribe. They lived on the outskirts of the desolate mountain forest and had just received guests from the far west and a visit from a representative of Wolf Village.
Xuan Ce and the others had initially planned to embark on an expedition into the desolate mountain forest to search for their cultivators who had yet to return from their mission of dealing with Suan Ni.
But since a representative from Wolf Village – one of the parties who had also sent their own cultivators to deal with Suan Ni – had arrived, Xuan Ce and the others decided to find out what had happened from the visitor himself.
The people of Sand Eagle Tribe took their seats in their meeting hall along with the Wolf Village representative and those from Martial Soul Continent.
The Outsiders fidgeted, eager to enquire about the continent they had just stumbled into.
Lang Ji, on the other hand, looked at the Outsiders with a new plan in mind.
Why not deceive the Outsiders to join their attack on Stone Village?
But he would most likely have to discuss this with the other leaders as well since Sand Eagle Tribe was the last one to be informed on Lang Ji’s list.
Either way, Lang Ji decided to speak to the leader of Sand Eagle Tribe first to complete his mission. Then, he returned to Wolf Village.
Ye Yun observed Shi Hao who was cultivating next to him, speechless.
Shi Hao had been cultivating under the willow tree for three days. If he shifted even just a few inches more to the side, he would have been sitting on Ye Yun.
Ye Yun felt quite helpless. He was just a simple blade of grass but Shi Hao was a human who could move wherever and do whatever he pleased.
When Shi Hao had finished tempering his body, he continued to refine Suan Ni’s blood essence. His comprehension ability had also improved by leaps and bounds. It was as if he firmly believed that cultivating under the willow tree would allow him to break through quickly. Hence, his current cultivation location and duration.
Shi Hao might not know that Ye Yun was the one who had somehow been facilitating the former’s cultivation. But Ye Yun had definitely noticed it from the past few days of observations. The best part? Ye Yun received a share of Shi Hao’s cultivation progress as well.
When Shi Hao cultivated, some of his energy would leave his body and get absorbed by the blade of grass right next to him.
And now, Ye Yun finally understood the effect of Influence – he could positively affect the cultivation of cultivators nearby and receive their energy in exchange.
Even though Ye Yun’s Influence was only a little over ten points – incomparable to the extent of his roots, which meant that the area his Influence would any effect was just around the willow tree – his cultivation had increased by leaps as well despite Shi Hao being the only cultivator present.
Shi Hao’s three-day cultivation had resulted in Ye Yun’s roots rapidly spreading.
Soon, he was able to change the direction of his roots’ growth to a new check-in location and get more rewards.
As expected, the system’s notification echoed in his ears within a few seconds.
[Beep beep, a change in the host’s check-in location has been detected. Do you wish to check in?]
“Check in!”
[Beep beep, today’s check-in has been completed. The location is thirty feet belowground to the east of the willow tree. Congratulations to the host for obtaining Earth Essence Energy ×1]
“What? Why am I getting Earth Essence Energy again? Fine, whatever. It’s useful anyway.”
Ye Yun quickly used the Earth Essence Energy..
