1166 Kana Goes To School Part 1
A month passed, and Kana had settled into her new life within the trial. Jay and Gina were very kind to her and took her to all kinds of places. While She had not been brought back to Gina’s home yet to meet her future grandparents, Todd had been over quite a bit. It also seemed that Gina and Jay had also sealed the deal at some point as well. Kana did not peek in on them, but she did see Gina sneaking from Jay’s bedroom a few times when she heard noises in the hallway.
But today, things were a bit different. Today was the day Kana would be going to school. Kana was dolled up in a blue dress with frills and blue shoes. Her coat was a blue fleece that had puffy white fur around the hem and neck. On her head was a fleece headband that kept her hair in place but also covered her ears. Kana was carried by Gina into the car and taken to the city’s top private school. Kana could have gone to an all girls school, but she decided to go to a mixed one to get the full experience of going to a regular school. Where might makes right had no meaning.
An hour later, they were sitting in the principal’s office. “As I told you before, she will still need to take a test to place her in the proper grade. If her grades are too low, she will need to start in a lower grade no matter what her age is.”
“That is fine. We just want what is best for Kana.” Gina nodded. While she wanted to force the damn man into putting her baby into a higher grade, she knew it would not do Kana any good.
“I am fine with taking a test.” Kana did not want to show off too much, but she also did not wish to be stuffed someplace stupid. She did not want to embarrass Gina and Jay.
“Kana, if you do not understand something, it is fine to leave the question blank.” Gina wanted Kana to not have to worry about her placement. She would be happy for Kana no matter which class she entered.
Kana was led to a room where she sat down at a desk and had a paper put in front of her. First, it was math, which was too easy for her. She quickly finished and handed the paper in. She then got a science paper, which she also turned in in a few minutes. Within an hour, Kana had finished all her tests. The one that took the longest was history, which she had only read a bit of thanks to Gina getting her some history books beforehand.
“That was quick.” Gina was surprised to see Kana back so soon. She pulled her into a hug and picked her up before walking towards the principal office. Twenty minutes later, after having the tests checked by the proper teachers, the results came out. The principal looked at the grades and raised an eyebrow. “You have a very smart daughter. Kana scored one hundred in all subjects except for history, where she got two answers wrong.”
“Really!?” Gina looked at Kana in surprise. She never thought this little one would be so smart! She knew the girl liked to read, but this was just amazing!
“Based on her age and ability, she will be able to enter the same grade as her peers. I just wish we had prepared a few extra hard questions. To be honest, I think her skill level might be higher than her current grade.” The principal had to admit that he was very stunned since he had heard about Kana’s situation.
“It’s fine. It will be better for her to be with kids her own age.” Gina couldn’t ask for more than this. She would hire a tutor to keep Kana’s skill level up. “Then we will do that. As of now, she can jump into any class and be able to keep going.” The principal picked up his phone and dialed a number. “Yes, come to my office. I have a new student who will be joining your class.”
Kana wondered just how she was going to deal with all these kids. But she had to go to school to make Gina and Jay happy. She sighed inwardly so no one would notice. Not long later, a young woman with glasses and her hair tied back in a ponytail walked in. In her hand was a binder. She looked at the principal with a gloomy expression and said: “Principal, I do hope this new student can keep up in my classes.”
“Rachel, you made up some of the questions for this test that student Kana had taken. Are you saying you did not write proper questions?” The principal asked while narrowing his eyes.
Rachel blushed and lowered her head. She should have realized the person in question was the one who took the test she had made questions for a few months ago. She even added it today! She wondered how she could be so stupid to act so haughty! “I am sorry. I thought this was another student.” “Keep your mouth closed if you can’t be polite. Student Kana is starting today. Welcome her to the class. If I hear that you have been rude to her for other reasons besides her doing something wrong, I will see to it that you are not able to teach here.” The principal’s words were stern, causing Rachel to feel a cold sweat on her back. She could not lose her job!
“I am sorry. I will be more careful from now on.” Rachel quickly apologized again. She had to admit when she saw Kana’s clean handwriting and the way she answered the questions, she was very surprised. She turned to Kana and smiled. “I am sorry. I did not mean to be mean. I hope you will not hold it against me.” Kana looked up at the woman and smiled softly. Her expression was not that of a young kid but seemed more of an expression one would see on an elder. “It’s okay. Everyone makes mistakes.”
