Reborn as his Shadow - Chapter 26
Looking at the locked door, Mo Jingxuan thought, fortunately, the distance between the balconies of each bedroom downstairs and upstairs is very short, so climbing down should not be a problem at all. If they weren’t, he wouldn’t be able to reach the ground from the sixth floor even if he tied all the bedsheets he could find together.
Standing up and walking to the balcony, Mo Jingxuan carefully observed the landscape, calculating in his mind the safest way to go down and the most convenient place to come up once he was back. It was in his favour that this school had strict management; all the students were young masters and ladies who were born with golden spoons in their mouths with no need to resort to robbery. Otherwise, breaking into and out of the dormitory would never be this simple.
Thinking of this, Mo Jingxuan was about to try it out, but as soon as he had one leg over the balcony, he heard someone knocking at the door! The sound was very light, regular, and slow. Mo Jingxuan frowned and silently retracted his foot, thinking it was the school administrators who came because Xiao Ying brought non-school personnel onto the grounds. Ignoring the sound, he walked leisurely to the living room and lay down on the sofa to rest.
“Knock! Knock! Knock!” The knock on the door was still patient, “Senior Xiao, are you there?”
Hearing the familiar voice outside the door, Mo Jingxuan opened his mouth in shock. Eyes that were full of leisure a moment ago were instantly cold. Without hesitation, he stood up and walked to the door, but just as his hand touched the knob, the door was opened from the outside.
Ignoring the stunned expression of the man outside, Mo Jingxuan looked at the key he was holding with a blank expression. This man’s love for Xiao Ying in his past life caused him to kill Xiao Ying, albeit indirectly…Unprecedented hatred quickly replaced his reason, and before the man could react, Mo Jingxuan had already grabbed him around the neck and thrown him into the room.
“Boom! Uh–” Mo Heng grunted and looked up at the unfamiliar face of his brother, “Brother! I am Mo Heng!” But this just served to stimulate Mo Jingxuan into attacking him faster and harder.
Mo Jingxuan raised his hand, beating Mo Heng again and again. Seeing that he didn’t intend to stop, Mo Heng’s eyes turned cold, and his fist exerted strength, meeting with Mo Jingxuan’s without any sign of weakness. “Bang!” There was a muffled sound of bones colliding against each other.
“Brother, stop; otherwise, I won’t be polite!” Mo Heng no longer had the gentle face he usually carried on; his ruthlessness bared for anyone to see.
Not talking nonsense, Mo Jingxuan raised his leg and swept it towards the other’s lower body. Mo Heng stepped back with a wary expression and positioned himself to attack, but Mo Jingxuan didn’t wait for him to prepare, sending a kick to his face. Unable to dodge the second time, Mo Heng fell backwards as his jaw snapped together. The back of his head collided with the ground, and he curled into a ball in pain.
Regardless of whether Mo Heng was suffering or not, Mo Jingxuan continued to beat him while he was down. “Don’t covet Xiao Ying, he’s mine.”
Rubbing the blood from his lips with a sneer, Mo Heng got up and sat with his back against the sofa. He looked at the man in front of him with a strange feeling bubbling up, “I shouldn’t covet him?! So you should? Who are you? What gives you the right to come sneak into Brother Xiao’s house and look at me so righteously?! You’ve disappeared for so many days and think you are someone now? You’re just a son who was abandoned by his father!”
Not waiting for Mo Jingxuan to say anything, Mo Heng continued, “I don’t know how you met Brother Xiao, and I don’t want to know, all I need to know is that I knew him long before you ever did.” Mo Heng seemed to be lost in his memories, “I was still young and he was the prince of the school, the god in the hearts of the girls and the leader in the hearts of the boys. No one didn’t know him, he was so dazzling. Over time, he had become the target of my pursuit. I know everything about him, you were asleep for so long, how can you compare to me?!”
Speaking of this, Mo Heng laughed softly, “I fell for him before I knew it. I began to yearn for him, to touch him, to hold him in my arms. Finally I entered the university campus and was closer to him than ever before, but I still–”
“Crack!!” Mo Jingxuan directly slapped him across the face and successfully stopped Mo Heng’s narcissistic narration. He couldn’t bear the slightest verbal infringement on Xiao Ying by this man.
Looking at Mo Jingxuan, Mo Heng stood up and looked at him face to face, “You have no right to deny me.” After speaking, he rushed towards Mo Jingxuan and knocked him to the floor, sitting on him before he was able to get up. Both hands were clenched tightly, and he sent punch after punch to his brother’s face.
Mo Jingxuan raised his legs to strangle Mo Heng’s neck, flipping him over as he followed.
Mo Heng was about to stand up and fight back when he heard a rush of footsteps approaching, and his eyes flickered slightly. Struggling for a moment, he fell to the ground limply and allowed Mo Jingxuan’s fists to fall on him without any resistance.
Xiao Ying was approaching slowly until he saw the open door that he had locked, and his heartbeat lost balance as he rushed to the opening. Yelling out his man’s name, he was completely irrational, “Xuan!” His hands were shaking so much that he could no longer hold the simple water he had gone to fetch, letting it fall to the ground.
Hearing Xiao Ying calling his name, Mo Jingxuan turned his head quickly. Before he could get up from Mo Heng, he was hugged tightly in his familiar embrace. The strength, however, made it difficult for Mo Jingxuan to breathe. Adjusting his position, Mo Jingxuan hugged the trembling man back, stroking his back in distress.
Mo Heng, who was still crushed under Mo Jingxuan, clenched his fists tightly as he looked at the two people hugging on top of him. His anger slowly subsided, but his hatred for Mo Jingxuan was built deep into his heart.
The person I’ve been chasing silently for so long, why…why did he occupy his arms so easily?
The person I’ve been chasing silently for so long, why…why did you hug someone so easily?
When Xiao Ying’s breathing gradually stabilized, Mo Jingxuan patted him on the back, “Baby, I’m here; I don’t want to leave. You relax first!” It was really uncomfortable to hug in such a twisted position; besides that, he was sitting on someone else.
Xiao Ying took a few deep breaths from the neck of the person buried in his arms before he let go of him. Seeing the blood stains on his face and the multiple swollen red marks, he flew into a rage, “What happened?! Who dared to injure you while I was gone?!”
Mo Jingxuan kissed the furious man in front of him, pulling him to stand up, and kicked Mo Heng, who was still lying on the ground. “We had a fight; he got it worse, though.”
“Brother Xiao…” Mo Heng’s face was bruised, blood still oozing from the corners of his mouth and nose, and he stubbornly called out to Xiao Ying. Trying to get up, he stumbled the next moment as if he had lost his strength and fell heavily on the ground as if he had given up struggling. Mo Heng lay panting on the floor, looking into the cold eyes staring at him, the stubbornness in his face slowly taken over by sadness, “Brother Xiao, he is my elder brother….”
Mo Jingxuan sneered, “The acting skills are really good.”
“Brother, how can you say that—you haven’t come back home for so long; our parents are so worried! But you don’t care at all, it’s just that I…I still love you! Even if you don’t like our family, you still shouldn’t—” Not continuing, Mo Heng looked at Mo Jingxuan with eyes full of pain, but seeing that he had no intention to speak, he had to continue his monologue, “Our parents told me to advise you to come back if I saw you. You really should—”
This time it wasn’t Mo Heng who stopped for dramatic effect; Xiao Ying had stepped on his neck and cut him off instead. He looked down with a harsh glare, “No one can take him away from me.” Saying so, he put more force on his neck.
“Heck-” Mo Heng desperately slapped the foot on his neck, and his face gradually turned from red to purple because of his blocked airway.
Seeing that the situation wasn’t good, Mo Jingxuan quickly hugged Xiao Ying. This man really wanted to kill Mo Heng! “Baby! Baby! Calm down for me, calm down! No one can take me away from you; let go of his neck! You can’t ruin your future because of such an insignificant person!” Seeing that Xiao Ying wasn’t listening, Mo Jingxuan continued, “What should I do if you kill him? Are you going to go to jail and leave me alone?”
With a sudden shock, Xiao Ying regained his senses and retracted his foot. His tone was cold as he directed his words to Mo Heng, “Get lost.”
Trembling uncontrollably from his tone, Mo Heng crawled up in humiliation and wiped his face slowly. He didn’t expect Xiao Ying to have no sympathy for him at all. He headed to the door, but as he passed Mo Jingxuan, he couldn’t hold back from whispering, “I will remember today, my good brother.” Remember the hatred of his loved one being robbed, remember the humiliation suffered at his hands, and remember to return all of these doubled in the future.
Mo Jingxuan looked at Mo Heng’s back without saying a word.
I will also remember. You, mother and son, who spared no effort to kill me in my previous life, I will remember my past grudges. I will remember that you sent my man to hell. This straightforward beating will end here today, but the future conflicts will be much, much worse.
Xiao Ying picked up the key that had fallen to the ground with dark eyes and picked up his phone to call Zi Bo. He ordered him to buy medicine for promoting blood circulation and preventing bruising. Taking Mo Jingxuan to sit on the sofa, he hugged the man on his knees and buried his head as he breathed in his scent slowly.
Mo Jingxuan held his head with both hands, cradling it gently as he massaged his temples. Looking at the man’s current state, he knew he wouldn’t be able to go see Mo Zhenhao today, “Do you still want to go out later?”
