Reborn As The Daemon’s Wife - Chapter 121
She finally recognized the place from Dairon’s memory. She was on the Proconian Isles. Why would Sinos bring her scepter here? He was unpredictable. It felt strange and she would have had suspicions about it if she didn’t feel her scepter’s presence.
The necklace around her neck glowed again and she grabbed it. “Are you trying to show me where to go?”
As if on cue, it pointed to the right. She glanced to the right and saw that there was nothing but a stretch of sea. She thought about it and climbed onto the boat, but she was yet to find an oar when the boat started moving on its own. It was creepy for some reason and she felt as though she was being controlled.
“Of course, Dairon’s powers.” She muttered when she realized that it was moving towards the direction she wanted. She was suddenly jealous. How could he have everything at his disposal? With the kind of elements he had, it was not an exaggeration to say that he could get anything he wanted.
The boat ride was silent aside from the memories flooding her mind. She had not asked for it but she recalled everything from Dairon’s interaction with Catalyah, from his endless flirtation to when Catalyah found out that they were mates. They were probably the most romantic couple who ever existed.
When Blaze found out about their relationship, he was displeased but there was nothing he could do about it since Dairon was his daughter’s mate. That couldn’t be said about Rian, however. He did everything to keep them away from each other.
At first, they would meet up in secret and exchange letters but with time, Blaze and Rian caught wind of it and made plans to confiscate their letters.

“Did you go to the human realm again?” Blaze asked when Catalyah returned, trying to sneak into the castle. He wouldn’t have known that she had snuck out if he hadn’t disabled teleportation to and from the castle.
She didn’t look fazed by the fact that she had been caught. She joined him at the fireplace and sat opposite him.
“Father, the human realm is beautiful. The humans look a lot like us and…”
“And you should not be frequenting it.” He interrupted.
“There is nothing wrong with paying a few visits.” She shrugged.
He took her hand and held it in both of his. “Catalyah, I know that you are adventurous. I understand that you can’t be confined to one realm, but the humans don’t know who you are. What do you think would happen when your human friends found out that you are not truly one of them? They would feel so betrayed.” He tried to talk her out of what she was doing.
“Actually, they know.” She confessed.
“Why?” He massaged his temples. “Is it because you wanted to help them accept that fish that you revealed that the woman they love so much is in fact an immortal?”
“It’s not about Dairon. The humans who can’t accept Dairon for who he is are all dead.” She was not lying, but that didn’t mean that she was telling the entire truth either.
She stood from her spot and knelt beside her father instead. “Could you give him a chance? He has never done anything wrong and I love him.”
“Catalyah…”
“It’s not his fault that he was born out of a forbidden relationship.” She pleaded.
He pulled her to the seat beside him and hugged her. “It’s not about me, Catalyah. You know that I don’t care who you marry as long as he makes you happy.”
“Then why do you still hate him for all these years?” She demanded.
“It’s about you.” He sighed. “You are the future queen of the realm of immortals. You cannot have a weakness and Dairon is not just a weakness. He is the most fatal one.”
She cringed at the bullshit.
“Father,” Narilia called from the door and they both looked over. She walked in and sat on the other side of Blaze.
“What do you want this time?” He asked, knowing that his daughter rarely sought him unless she had something impossible to ask of him.
“I found the god I want to marry.” She spoke timidly, looking down at her fingers and biting her lips after stating it.
“Really? That’s the best news in years!” Catalyah was excited for her. “Tell us about him.”
“There’s no need. Narilia, you are too young to think about marriage.” Blaze expressed his dissatisfaction.
“Why? I’m only a few years younger than Catalyah and she was ready for marriage hundreds of years ago!” Narilia protested.
“Your sister is reasonable unlike you.” Blaze dismissed both of them.
When they were at the door, he called, “Catalyah.”
She turned and looked at him.
“You can only negotiate it with your grandfather.” He stated.
She nodded and went back to her room with her sister.
Narilia pulled Catalyah’s hand before the latter could enter her room, and dragged her into her own room which was on the opposite side of the hallway.
“Did father accept Dairon?” She asked.
“It’s not his choice.” Catalyah responded then realized that her sister felt awful about the different treatment. She hugged her. “When father finds out that you are talking about Bardumond, his reaction will be different.”
“I want him to accept my future spouse without knowing him. Why can’t he trust me?” Narilia pouted. At the time, Catalyah felt the hurt in her tone but there wasn’t much she could do. Speaking up on her behalf would only make the different treatment even more obvious.

“Grandfather, we need to talk.” Catalyah demanded when she entered King Rian’s chambers.
“I have a feeling it’s not something I’m going to agree to.” King Rian looked up from the book he was reading.
“We have been having the same conversation every month for eight hundred years so, of course you know what I’m about to say.” She sat opposite him.
“If this is about the demigod, we can negotiate.” He placed the book beside him and looked at her. Her wings were out and light radiated off them. He smiled proudly. “You unlocked your fourth element.”
“What?” She frowned.
“Light.” He pointed at her wings which she hadn’t realized were out. She couldn’t see them but earlier she had felt like they were suddenly stronger.
“Dairon is not who he says he is. I want you to expose his true identity. If you can do that, as well as the task I assigned you, I will not have any opinion about the male you want to marry.” He suggested.
She threw her head back and burst into laughter. “I have waited for an entire millennium only to hear this? That I have to betray my mate for him to be accepted? What kind of sinister deal is this, grandfather?”
“The kind you have to take or leave.” King Rian looked at her sternly. “It’s up to you, Catalyah.” He didn’t look like he was ready to discuss anymore.
She stood up with a frown but her heart blazed in determination. “I’ll get it done within a year. I mean, the matter about the underworld. If you want me to betray my mate, you can wake up and stop dreaming, grandfather.”
She stormed out of his chamber and her frown morphed into seriousness.
“We have waited for long enough, my love. It’s almost over.”
That night, she wrote a letter to Dairon and Jasmine finally understood why they had to write to each other when they were both in the realm of immortals. The exchanges must have gone on for a long time already since as soon as she finished writing her letter, she opened Dairon’s letter.
Jasmine came back to her senses and placed a hand on her chest.
“Wait. How come all the memories are from Catalyah’s point of view if they are Dairon’s?” She wondered aloud. Besides, what did they have to do with anything?
She felt dizzy out of the blue and held the sides of the boat for support. It was as though her strength was slipping out of her. It was different from what she felt as a result of being on the sea. By the time she realized that the necklace was draining her, she was too weak to take it off.
She was drifting into slumber when her mind once again filled with yet another of Catalyah’s memories, which she would have thought were Dairon’s if he were in them.
Eight hundred years ago.
The war had already started and everyone was thinking of ways to end it before things got out of hand.
Catalyah rushed into King Rian’s castle in tandem, having stumbled upon something while trying to find a solution. “Grandfather!” She ran all the way to his study and pushed the door open. “He is not a demigod! I found out his true identity.”
“Oh, did you?” A chuckle filled the air and Jasmine had an ominous feeling. Whoever Catalyah saw in King Rian’s study was definitely not King Rian.
