Reborn As The Daemon’s Wife - Chapter 152
“I am not of the same kind as you, demon.” Dairon glared at him.
“Yes you are.” Ulke let out a maniacal laugh. “Wait. You still don’t know that you are.”
Dairon frowned. What did he mean by that?
“Do you know why Catalyah turned to me, Dairon?”
He didn’t want to hear it but deep down, he knew that he wanted to know. Although Catalyah didn’t exactly turn to Ulke out of her own will, she did betray him by being ready to tell King Rian his identity as soon as she found out. If there was a reason that might make Jasmine want to betray him in future, it would be great to know so he would prevent it.
“That’s because you are too full of yourself.” Ulke laughed at his so-called reason.
“Who would want to be with a demigod who thinks he is much more powerful than he actually is? You are so narcissistic that you treated her as though you were doing her a favor by being her mate.”
Hearing his words, Dairon had the urge to laugh out loud. Even though he couldn’t know his own personality, he was certain that Catalyah would have told him off if he ever acted like Ulke said he did.
“Maybe it’s funny.” Ulke stood up and sneered. He tried to heal his wing and failed, which made him start to question since when demigods had the ability to harm demons. He ignored it and faced Dairon. “Maybe, you should be asking why Jasmine approached me.”
The question was at the tip of his tongue but he swallowed it down, knowing that it was a lie. Jasmine would never approach Ulke even if her life depended on it.
He flashed another bolt of lighting as a warning, making Ulke’s head feel like it had been thrashed. He glared at Dairon but was too weak to retaliate.
“You are definitely not a demigod.” Ulke groaned in pain.
Dairon’s lips twitched. “You are only finding that out now, even though you claim that we are of the same kind. Don’t you find your ignorance ironic, Ulke?”
He struck the demon again on his way out. “Stay away from Jasmine. And before you even think of it, don’t you dare seek anyone related to her.” He warned.
He had just taken two steps out when he met Narilia whose mouth was wide in horror.
“What now?” He was irritated by her overreaction
“If you are not a demigod, what are you? Are you a demon?” She demanded with tears in her eyes as if she had been betrayed.
He ignored her. Who was he to blame if her memory was weak enough for such information to be wiped out without her knowledge?

Meanwhile, Dylan’s spy ran to the living room where Dylan was having a word with his wife.
“Lord Dylan, Dairon and that demigoddess got married.”
“What are you talking about?” Dylan frowned.
“The literal meaning of marriage. He put a ring on her finger and they are planning their wedding in the human realm.” Reported the spy, who had received more exaggerated information than the truth.
Dylan massaged his chin and the more he thought about it, the more it made sense for Dairon to want to get married to Jasmine. That rascal! What was so good about that demigoddess that exceeded Marina? He was as blind as his mother.
When the spy left, he gave his wife instructions on what to do.
“Have Marina kidnap Jasmine and bring her back to our kingdom.”
“Why?” Nila asked, knowing that her husband was up to something, and knowing that it would produce the opposite result from what they wanted if they kidnapped Dairon’s beloved or harmed her.
Dylan smiled at his own plan. “We will disguise Marina as Jasmine and give her to Dairon. She should use the chance to convince him to destroy the ring, pretending not to like it. That’s all we need to break their marriage and make her marry Marina.” He explained.
“That doesn’t sound as easy as you speak of it.” Nila thought about it.
“It will be easy if Marina is the one kidnapping Jasmine.” Dylan huffed proudly, not knowing that it was easier said than done.
Just a few hours after being told what to do, Marina ran to her grandfather in the underwater kingdom and threw herself into his arms. “Grandfather!”
“What happened? Were you unable to get her?” He asked, sounding annoyed. He had sent Marina on a mission to get Jasmine into the underworld but Marina’s presence must mean that she was unable to get her.
“It’s not just that.” Marina cried. “Jasmine summoned Catalyah’s pegasus. She even went on a ride on his back!”
“What did you say?” Dylan was shocked.
“I heard of it before but I did not believe it. I saw it with my own eyes today.” She insisted.
Dylan was still shocked but when he saw Marina’s serious expression, he had no choice but to believe it.
“Maybe she really is Catalyah’s reincarnate? That pegasus has never acknowledged any other deity, let alone a demi deity.” She pulled herself out of Dylan’s arms and sat down on a chair that was in the shape of a seashell.
“You cannot make such a conclusion based on one fact.” Dylan refused to believe that such a thing could happen. “Maybe their circumstances are just so coincidental.”
“Or maybe, they are coincidental because they are the same deity, just under different circumstances.” She analyzed, thinking of Scarlet’s hypothesis.
“Think about it grandfather. Jasmine was born on the fifth day of the fifth month. That’s when Catalyah died.” She ticked it off with her fingers. “They both have the fire and earth element, and don’t forget about their physical appearance. Even Jasmine’s wings were of the same color as Catalyah’s!”
Seeing that her grandfather was not convinced, she brought out the fact that had convinced Scarlet. “When Catalyah approached her death, her wings started to burn off feather by feather. Do you want to know how Jasmine died in her first life?”
Dylan had figured it out but he still thought it was a stretch to assume that Catalyah could have reincarnated into a demigoddess.
“Marina, life and death do not matter. Besides, I think Catalyah’s wings burned off for the same reason as Jasmine’s. It had nothing to do with them and a lot to do with the demigod that’s their mate.”
“Dairon?” She trembled. “Does this mean if I were to die, my wings would also burn off?” She was suddenly worried about her future.
“That’s not necessarily going to be the case. Not if we can control him.” He stated. ‘Or kill him.’ He added mentally, knowing that if Marina were to know what his entire plan was, she would not agree to the deal. She loved Dairon too much. What did that demigod ever do to deserve it?
Marina was reassured. She was not afraid of death but dying the same way as Catalyah and that demigoddess was the last thing she wanted.
Dylan tousled her hair. “You know what to do, Marina. You don’t need to care about that demigoddess.” He found the best words to convince her. “Think about it. Even if she were Catalyah’s reincarnate, it would take years for her to regain her strength.” He said to console her, even while knowing that it was impossible for anyone to reincarnate twice. “You should strike her while she is still low.”
Marina nodded. “I will try again, grandfather.”
Dylan nodded in satisfaction. “Tell me the good news soon.”
“I hope I will be able to get her this time.” She vowed.
When she sought Jasmine the following day, the latter was trying to get her work done in the library of the academy.
“What do you want this time, Marina?” Jasmine immediately knew that she was up to something.
“Why do you think so negatively of me? I mean no harm.” Marina sat opposite her defensively and pushed the bag in her hands over the table to Jasmine. “I thought we could catch up on some snacks.”
Jasmine looked at her like an idiot. “Is that a special kind of poison that can only harm other gods but to which water deities are immune?”
Marina was in disbelief. “How lowly do you think I am?”
“As lowly as your grandparents if you really want to know what I think.” Jasmine stood to leave.
“Your arrogance will be the end of you, human!” Marina screeched in anger.
Jasmine peeked at her over her shoulder. “That’s not for you to worry about.”
Marina glanced at the bag of snacks on the table. They were not meant to poison Jasmine. On the contrary, they would only make her dizzy for a while so she would steal her ring. After all, she would need it so Dairon would destroy it later.
Having read her mind, Jasmine shook her head. The gods of water would have been able to do whatever they wanted to Dairon if they had chosen their teammate wisely.
