Reborn As The Daemon’s Wife - Chapter 178
The Enchanted Circle was not one of the places that Blaze would freely allow her to go. She knew this, and she intended to keep her intentions a secret but even then, it would be safer if a deity knew where to find her in case things took an unexpected twist. Hence, she summoned Sinos as soon as she went back to Dairon’s island.
The god was surprised. “Jasmine? It’s been a while.”
“I know.” She placed a shirt in his hands as a bribe. “I need you to help me keep a secret.”
He was pleased with the shirt but he gave her a puzzled look. “Is there such a thing as a secret in a realm where time can be manipulated for the king to check out what you discussed?”
Her mouth gaped. “Thank you for reminding me, I will take care of that.”
“What do you need me to keep?” He asked since he was certain that it would not be leaked under any circumstances.
“My visit to the Enchanted Circle.”
“Jasmine, no. You can’t do that.” He reprimanded her.
“I can. I have this.” She held up the pendant she had received from Alaya. Sinos still looked skeptical. To be fair, she was skeptical too, but how would she know the result if she didn’t try?
“That’s from Dylan’s clan. Where did you get it?” He reached to touch it, but she retracted her hand.
“Goddess Alaya gave it to me. She would never hurt the demigoddess who holds half of her son’s life.” It was the only point that had convinced her that it was safe to go.
“Jasmine,”
She knew he was about to coax her out of it so she dismissed him. “That will be all. I’ll be on my way. Please help me distract whoever asks for me before I return. Tell them I went to the human realm.”
It was not one of the places she should go either, but it will keep King Rian out of her business until she returned. She wore the pendant around her neck and closed her eyes, preparing herself to teleport to Clarepar Sea. She forcefully opened them when she felt his presence.
“Dairon?” She whispered, mere seconds before he materialized into the room. She rushed into his arms and hugged him, her heart finally still. She had not realized how scared she had been when she couldn’t find him until he showed up. A breath of relief left her lips when she saw that he seemed to be alright.
“Where do you think you’re going?” He asked when he saw her necklace. which revealed her destination even without him asking.
“I was going to find you.” She confessed.
“And you were going to play along with her craziness?” He reprimanded Sinos who was still confused at the side. How could he allow her to go to such a place while knowing how dangerous it was for her?
“How is one supposed to say no to Jasmine when she is so determined? I was at a loss too, okay?” Sinos huffed and disappeared before he could be dragged into the couple’s mess.
She ripped the necklace off her neck and ran her hands down the sides of his face. “Where did you go? I was worried about you.”
He held her wrist and pulled her hand off his face, kissing the inside of it. “I had to take care of something urgently. I’m sorry I made you worry.”
She rested her head on his chest and shut her eyes. She didn’t know what would have become of her if she lost him.
“Don’t do that again.” She chastised him.
“I won’t. I promise.” He kissed her face. She wanted to ask what exactly he had to settle but she didn’t have the chance to before his lips found hers. He traced her face with his thumb as his other hand wrapped around her waist. Her fingers curled into his hair but when he pried her mouth open, she stopped him.
“Goddess Alaya must be going crazy with worry. We need to tell her that you are alright.” She stepped away from him.
“We cannot go to the human realm. King Rian is laying a trap for you,” He warned, holding her back from teleporting.
“What kind of trap?” A frown settled on her face.
“He wants your life.”
____
Scarlet was trying her best to contain her fury as she listened to King Rian’s instructions.
“Her power is much weaker when she is in the human realm. I want you to make her believe that the human rats are in danger and follow her to the human realm.
It took an immense amount of self control to stop herself from yelling at him for the words he had used to refer to Jasmine’s family. She knew that this was what would happen before she swore her loyalty but it still felt over the top. Even though she hated King Rian now that she knew the truth about her power, Had she become Catalyah’s little slave now?
“I will.” She lied, not daring to look King Rian in the eye.
“You have until sunset.” King Rian dismissed her. The deadline was not unreasonable. It didn’t matter what time of day or night Jasmine received the false alarm, she would be in the human realm in a flash. However, it was more difficult to figure out what to do now that she was not planning to complete the mission.
If she told Jasmine the truth and King Rian caught wind of it, she would have to rely on her for protection and that would be the most humiliating twist in her life. On the other hand, she couldn’t trick her master even if she wanted to. And if Jasmine felt as though anything was off and asked her about it, she would spill it all without controlling her mouth.
She walked out of King Rian’s castle deep in thought and nearly bumped into Marina who was on her way in. Hate surged through her veins seeing the goddess and she had to turn to leave as soon as possible.
“Scarlet!” Of course, the goddess couldn’t keep away.
“What do you want?” Asked Scarlet, and the oblivious Marina pretended to be scared.
“You are different. What’s with the battlefield mood?” She asked and made a guess on her own. “Are you worried about the rumor surrounding Jasmine?”
“What rumor?” Scarlet asked, puzzled at her own interest in the matter.
Marina inched closer so the words only reached Scarlet. “That she is Catalyah’s incarnate or something of the sort. Don’t worry. It’s something the demigoddess came up with to make herself seem powerful. The King of the underworld admitted to have destroyed Catalyah’s soul. She can neither be reborn nor have an incarnate.”
Marina prattled on while Scarlet was confused. If Catalyah could not be reborn, then who was Jasmine? Wasn’t she Catalyah in disguise?
She brushed off Marina’s words. Why would she even know what Ulke said? Besides, Ulke was a trickster. He could say anything to get himself out of trouble.
Although that was what she concluded, she was still troubled.. She had specifically pledged her loyalty to Catalyah. Why then, was she so protective of Jasmine as though she was under a spell if the two had nothing to do with each other?
