Reborn For Revenge: Mr. Smith Can You Handle it? - Chapter 19
“Sherry, where are you going?” Chris shouted at Sherry from where he was standing as he watched her walk towards her room on the second floor.
Sherry ignored him and quickly made her way to her room to get changed. She was clutching her hand phone in her hand while looking extremely anxious and tensed.
“You…You heartless woman!! Don’t you want to meet your best friend? She is suffering right now!” Chris tried to emotionally blackmail her.
Sherry stopped at his last statement making Chris almost jump up and down in sense of victory.
“You know what Chris…” Sherry looked down at him from the top of her staircase and gave an exhausted look to Chris.
“Bella needs you by her side more than she needs me at this moment! It was never me she needed and I will never be the one she will need.” Sherry was a little bit hurt when she spoke but she regained herself back, turned around with out even bothering to listen to him and entered her room.
She rushed inside her wardrobe and pulled out the most comfortable dress she could fine, a pair of t-shirt and black pants.
She stood in front of her mirror and looked at her reflection where she saw a woman who was supposed to be having the best day of her life.
The woman who was supposed to be marrying the love of her life.
The woman who was supposed to be pampered and spoilt rotten by her husband, family and friends.
But there she stood in her wedding dress alone, an abandoned wife who was cheated on by her fiancée with her best friend and shooed away by her own family.
“Ironic..” Sherry turned away and ripped off the dress from her body. Even the fabrics of her dress made her body itchy all over like as if she had some kind of allergy.
She took a hair band form the table and tied up her loosely curled up hair in to a ponytail. Using a tissue paper, she wiped away all the makeup without even leaving behind a trace of the make up products.
She picked up the dress she had placed on the top of her bed and put it on easily. She slipped into the t-shirt that was made up of cotton and put on a cotton pant as well.
She turned to look once again at the full body mirror in which her real self, the playful and bright Sherry was reflected.
She raised both of her arms and slapped her face from both side.
SMACK!!
The crisp sound made it seem more hurtful than it was in reality.
“You can’t get stuck in the past and mop around like a fool. Get going already. Your patient is waiting for you.” Sherry shoot herself a few hearts and smiled like a dork.
“Much better!”
Sherry took a deep breath and took out her bag that contained her working materials which he always carried around.
She had just got a call from the hospital where she worked in only to find that’s one of her patient was in critical condition. Neither the doctor who called her nor she had the time and luxury to exchange the details of patient over the phone.
‘Whoever it is, please be alright.’ Sherry prayed inside her heart while she made her way out of the door.
She locked the door right behind her and walked outside of the door as fast as she could to only stumble upon Chris who was waiting for her impatiently.
“Sherry…” His expression brightened when he saw Sherry reappear from her room but soon it changed in to a frown.
“Why are you dressed like that? Who are you going to meet at this time?” He suddenly got angry when he saw her dressed like a young girl.
He was angrier at the fact that she had taken off her wedding dress that he had painstakingly chosen for her yesterday.
“I am going to hospital.” Sherry did not feel the need to justify herself further except telling him where she was going.
“What hospital? Who are you going to meet?” Chris was dubious of her again and he could not help but question her.
“…….”, Sherry did not know if Chris was plainly stupid or intentionally making things hard for her!
“Chris, I work in a hospital, remember?” She sighed as she took out the keys of her car from the tray on the living room. “I am a doctor!! Of course I will go to hospital to meet my patients.” Sherry wore a simple sandal from there.
“Ahh..right…The XXX hospital on the mid street right?” Chris spoke some random location of a hospital where he thought Sherry might be working.
“I work in the Capital Hospital! Chris, Don’t tell me you did not even care a damn about what I did in these two years when we dated??” Sherry yelled out a question at him.
Seeing that Chris was peaking nothing and even remained silent, Sherry lost even the last bit of respect that she might have kept on him.
“Fuck off Chris! I fucking do not want to see your shitty face right now!” Sherry clasped her key and walked towards the garage, her eyes stared at Chris as if she was about devour him completely.
“And if you do not know, let me tell this to you as well…” Sherry paused and looked behind her.
“I am a neurosurgeon, the youngest and the most successful out there.” She spoke with a smirk.
“Why are you saying this to me?” Chris looked at her and asked.
“You know, I am wondering if should conduct a full brain test for my brain which fell for a piece of shit like you.” Sherry rolled her eyes at him and slammed the door right on his face.
Chris only regained back his consciousness when he heard the car start in the garage and rushed out to stop her. He had to take her to Bella anyway and also make her get back with him no matter what.
“Sherry stop..” He was about to chase after her when suddenly something hit him on the knee.
“Arghh…” His yelp of pain echoed in the empty living room as he tumbled down like an old vase. He wrinkled his brows in pain and gasped out few heavy breathes.
He noticed a small spherical stone at the place where he was hurt making him realize that somebody had hit him there. He crawled to where the stone was and picked it up.
He clutched it tightly on his palm and stood up from where he had fallen down heaving a painful grunt.
“Who threw this?” He shouted and looked around as he rubbed the sore spot on his leg. “I said, show yourself.” He was angry and cursed out one or two words at whoever threw it at him.
He looked out of the window and saw the car that Sherry usually drove was already out of the villa gate.
“No…” He let out a cry of shock and anger. He threw the stone out of the window as he fumed in anger.
“Damn it!!” He cursed as he limped out of the house while catching on to his leg. With one hand clasping the phone and the other catching his leg, he looked like a beggar out for begging.
The old maid of the house who was hiding behind the door of the living room watched the receding back of Chris and closed her eyes.
“Young Miss, I do not know what has happened and what will happen in this house from now on! But whatever you do, please do not get hurt ever again.” The old maid clutched her chest tightly afraid she might lose her breathe if she let go of it.
“Delaying him is the only thing I can do for you little missy, so please always be happy for the sake of this old aunty you might never see.”
The old maid had crawled her way to the living room just in time to see Sherry leaving the hateful man for good. She knew her body much better than anyone else so she wanted to see sherry one last time before she…
Afraid he might pester her once more, she hit him on his leg to making him fall down and delay his advances towards her.
“I will always watch over you my dear little girl.. Forgive this old lady for leaving you alone.” Her breath got harsher until she could not support her body much longer.
She fell down on the floor right where she was standing and curled up in a ball.
“I will be joining your mom and dad in heaven. See you, sweetie.” The light in her eyes slowly faded away .
The old lady closed her eyes while her lips stretched out in a smile as if she was finally going on a journey after grinding non stop of thousands and hundreds of years.
