Reborn For Revenge: Mr. Smith Can You Handle it? - Chapter 28
“Thank you for waiting,” a tired voice called out to the two men who were talking in the parking lot.
“Mr. Smith,” Sherry forced a smile as she gazed at Levian who was standing as he waited for her. She looked at Roy and also managed to smile at him with a slight bow.
Levian said nothing as he moved his gaze all over her face as if searching for something. Seeing that she was fine, he finally exhaled out a sigh of relief. He had been worried sick about her going back there on her own.
He had seen Chris, that hateful man loitering around the reception area from the corner of his eyes when they were returning from her office. He would have loved to stop her from going but he did not want to interfere in her own personal matters.
It was hot in the parking lot even though it was already evening. Sherry lifted up all the loose strands of her hair from around her neck and twisted them around her bun which was already getting messy.
Immediately, his eyes widened when he saw a red scar on her neck. It looked fresh and seemed like someone had tried to strangle her by the neck.
His hand moved unconsciously and grabbed her by the wrist, catching both Sherry and Roy by surprise. Especially, sherry was the one who was startled with his sudden action.
“W-What is it?” she stammered through her words.
Levian did not speak anything as he stretched out his hand to her neck. Sherry slightly flinched when she felt his cold hands on her neck. She subconsciously jerked her neck back a bit as if showing her resistance to his touch.
Levian noticed this and could not help but frown. He retraced back his hands and dropped it down sideways.
“This, what happened?” He asked her without daring to touch her again.
Sherry had no idea what he was asking her. But she remembered that Chris had tried to strangle her between one of their scuffles.
‘It must be the scar from then,’ she mumbled to herself as she ran her fingers over her neck.
“It’s nothing important, you should not worry about it,” Sherry shrugged as she stepped back in tiny steps.
“But miss,” Roy tried to speak to her but she cut him off. “It’s alright, I can take care of this,” she smiled as she clearly drew the lines between them. She was already starting to put the walls between them.
“Roy, it’s fine,” Levian said as he placed his hands on his shoulder. He tapped lightly and nodded his head.
The reaction from Sherry was justified. He was, after all, just a stranger who came with a business deal for her.
“We shall go right now,” he said in a cold voice when he was finally done with his thoughts. He wanted to get done with the registration as fast as he could. He frowned as he thought about the message he got a few minutes ago from his grandfather while he was waiting for her to be done.
‘Why is he more anxious about me getting a wife than I am,’ he could only shake his head in disdain. He did not understand how the brain of old men worked. Scoffing a bit, he opened the door of the car.
Hearing the coldness in his voice, a cold shiver ran down her spine. She trembled lightly despite the surrounding heat assaulting her.
“Miss please,” Roy bowed as he showed her the car. He was gesturing her to take a seat. Sherry snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Roy.
“Mr. Smith,” she called out to Levian. “Sir, I will like to visit my home first,” she stopped him right before he entered the car. Levian looked at her with a frown but he did stop to listen to her.
Under the watchful gaze of Levian, she gulped down the air in her throat, feeling a bit nervous.
“I need to settle a few things there,” she mumbled. “I think you know what I mean,” she added as she observed each expression on his poker face.
Levian sighed when he saw that the girl looked at him all scared and stiff, as if he was some sort of plague.
“I know, that is why we are going to your house first,” he sighed as he stepped aside from the door.
“After you,” he said with both of his hands inside his pocket.
“We have many things to do tonight,” he pursed his lips in a straight line as he looked at Sherry.

A black car stopped in front of a dark mansion with a screech. Only the flickering light from the start lamps lightened the silent street. With the eerie silence permeating the night air, this setting looked straight out of a horror movie.
The door of the car opened and a figure of a woman stepped out.
“You sure you don’t want us coming?” Roy asked Sherry, a bit worried about the little lady going inside the wolf’s den alone. Not to mention the whole house was engulfed in darkness.
“It’s fine, I just need to meet someone,” she said softly. A warm smile spread on her face. It was one of those rare smile she showed. Levian felt something get stuck on his throat when he saw it. He coughed lightly to clear it.
“What if you meet your uncle and aunt?” Levian asked, tuning his head away from her face.
“I think I can manage it too,” she added. She had already thought of things she wanted to settle with her uncle and aunt when she was in the hospital.
Without giving the two men a chance to argue with her, she made her way towards the mansion of the Lona family in quick strides. There was some sort of unsettling feeling in her heart as she got closer to the building.
‘Is she asleep?’ she thought to herself thinking about the old maid. She was usually the last one to sleep after taking care of everything in the house. It seemed it was not the same case today. She wondered if something was wrong.
‘It’s fine, do not be paranoid,’ she scolded herself as she quickened her steps. She had already experienced death and betrayal, and lived through it. She had gotten full package of misfortune for free of cost.
“There can’t be anything worse than these, right?” she chuckled as she pushed open the door of the mansion.
