Reborn In A Tabletop Rpg - Chapter 1 Getting Into Character

Six people woke up simultaneously with the feel of cold concrete underneath them.

They were in a state of confusion, unsure of how they arrived there, with no memory of previous events.

They did share one thing in common, though. Their last memory was arriving at a friends house on earth to play a tabletop role-playing game.

In this game, you choose a race, class, and basic starting appearance, though no remembers the name of the game somehow.

After a moment they realized they were now the very imaginary characters that were going to play that day, down to the last detail.

A powerful figure sat watching a crystal ball, his hooded form hiding his perfect features.

Another figure floated in the air upon a cloud of liquid gold, his legs crossed in a meditative state. His eyes were upon the crystal ball as he spoke, “So was summoning was a success then, Jelico? ”

The mage smiled momentarily, “Yes, it was successful, Tordek, but I wonder why you are here?”

The gnome God floated carefree, giggling a small amount before responding.

“I am bored…”

Jelico nodded and continued looking at the crystal ball. Six people could be seen waking up with confused expressions.

“Oo shush you! They are waking up! This is the best part.” Jelico said as he leaned over the crystal ball.

“You know for a neutral God, you seem to have an agenda. ” The gnome taunted.

Jelico didn’t turn around, “Nonsense, I am merely keeping the balance. You watch! They will grow to be the greatest of heroes! ”

“Balance wouldn’t need to be kept, if you didn’t summon all of those evil people…”

Jelico shrugged, “Fragile existences all of them. Now shush! I’m trying to watch!”

As they woke and looked around, each of the six people had differing opinions about their new circumstances. Most present had created characters themselves and we’re going to game as a way to get away from reality, but not all.

One such person was a woman named Tabby who had joined the game as a way to make her husband happy. She didn’t even make her own character! Her husband Phil ,though secretly excited, couldn’t allow this to show for fear of his life. He had spent the first 5 minutes just trying to calm Tabby down.

“What about the kids?! Their gonna think we abandoned them! CPS! This is awful! I’m the worst parent!” Tabby yelled at herself but in the direction of Phil.

“Baby girl, it’s gonna be fine. Surely the neighbors will help out.” Phil said, trying to console her.

“ITS NOT GONNA BE FINE! The neighbors! Are you kidding me! They let their kids play in the street! Oh no….now I feel worse…”

The others couldn’t help but laugh at Phil, who was now at a loss.

Phil’s sister Whitney interrupted Tabby’s tirade, ” There’s nothing you can do about it so get over it. ”

Phil’s brother Drew, also joined in, “Yeah, chill out. Your messing with my vibe. ”

Tabby’s face turned red, and she seemed like she was about to explode.

“You don’t have it that bad, at least your not a halfling. ”

The speaker was now trapped in the form of a four foot tall halfling, his name was Eric and he used to be a small Mexican man. Phil had given him the nickname Little Mexican long ago.

“Your not a half- giant either. ” said the last member of the group, who’s name was also Eric. His last name was Hustetler, so he had picked up the nickname Huffy. His half-giant form was not the pretiest of sights, since he set his charisma at 8 in order to gain a higher strength stat.

Tabby realized she was at least not ugly and began to calm down since things could be far worse.

Drew was the first to realize that he simply had to think “character sheet” and a digital menu would pop up describing character details. Once he enlightened everyone, they opened up their menu’s one by one.
