Reborn In Altaes - Chapter 6 Fight

This is not going well for me. She catches up to me immediately. Her twin brother even shot an arrow behind my lower abdomen and it hurts! Why does it hurt? It never feel any pain even when I get injury before. What are the arrows made out of?

Aargggh! Shit, that hurts! Another arrow pierce my back. That’s it, if you wanna play rough, I’ll play rough! I never really want to hurt any human like beings but, I know I’ll do it if it’s necessary. I quickly turn my back and face them.

She becomes shock for a mere fraction of a second but, she focuses back and lifts both of her swords. Her twin, however, is still calm as ever. Knocking another arrow.

I charge forward and swing my scythe at her. She dodge by ducking down and points her swords at my abdomen. I quickly jump upwards above her and continue to charge at the twin brother.

An arrow flies towards me once more. It’s glowing red just like her sword. Ahah! No wonder it hurts like hell. I deflect it with one of my scythe but, just like I guess, It’s still hurt. I arrive in front of him before he can knock another arrow and I quickly slash at his bow. It split it into two.His eyes becomes wide with shock and he rolls back getting away from me.

The twin sister arrives behind me and cross-slash towards me. I also manage to defend against her attacks, but it comes at a cost. I lost one of my scythe. Damn, that hurts a lot. She once again, tries to stab me. I duck down below her swords and barely dodge it. I lift back my head up, smashing my head against her chin. She gets stun and I did my head smash again on her forehead this time. With that, she finally faints.

A rock comes flying towards the back of my head. The rock comes slower than the arrows, that’s why I easily dodge it. I do have compound eyes to look behind my back. I slowly turn my head back and look down upon him. Knowing that he can no longer hurt me anymore, he slowly steps back. I internally smile. Oh, now you’re backing up, huh?

This is bad. Really bad. Why is this happening? It seems like it has been going fine but, this thing is clearly really smart. To the point it’s like fighting another person. It immediately knows which one to target first. Oh, Great Heavenly Goddess. It’s coming towards me slowly. I want to run but, I can’t just leave without my sister.

It continues to stare at me for another few more moments as if ridiculing at how powerless I am now. Then, it immediately turns around without a care and walks back into the forest. My legs finally buckle below me as I stare at where it has disappear to. I look down at my sister and it seems she’s fine. After an hour, she finally wakes up.

She grumbles for a second and quickly stands up. Her eyes immediately becomes vigilant and reaches down and grab her swords.

“The Scythe Mantis is gone.” I put my hand on her shoulder trying to calm her.

“What happened?” She sheathe back her swords and looks up at me.

“Yo got knocked out by it with a headbutt. Then, it went back into the forest.” I point at where the creature has disappear to.

“How in the world did we survive? I remember your bow got cut. Why didn’t it finish us off?”

“That’s the strangest thing and I just don’t understand it’s behavior. I got this feeling as if we were fighting a person. Not a wild beast and that’s the scariest part.”

“Well, we survived. That’s the important part. What are we going to do about that beast?”

“I think it’s better to retreat. I don’t know why I didn’t just kill us but, I don’t wanna face it unprepared. It clearly knows how to fight hunters. I think it’s wise to retreat. Continuing our hunt in this forest with that thing around is just too dangerous.”

“Well, lets pack up and….” Zara stops as she hears a rustle behind me. Her eyes in shock as she pulls out her swords. It’s back?! I quickly spun around and find the huge Mantis Beast coming back towards us. It finally wants to finish us off?!

We back off slowly with our sights still on it. It comes over slowly and stares down at us. It finally stops a few dozen footsteps from us. It lifts up it’s one scythe and finally …..it’s picking up the cut off scythe by stabbing it with the other. It looks up at us one final time and spit to the side as if we’re a nuisance. It turns around and once again disappears into the forest.

Me and my sister stares shockingly at what just happen. What?! What the fuck?!
