Reborn In Harry Potter - Chapter 6 Detection Spell
It had been a few months since Ron first started working on his `Wand/Ring’ and he had managed to draw some other runes on the ring. Besides the Magic Gathering Rune, Ron had added the Magic Storage Rune which would act as a backup source of energy, a Spirit Focusing Rune which would allow him to fortify his mind and increase his mental powers and lastly a Pentacle Rune which combined the previous three Rune’s effects and used the magical and spiritual energies to nourish the person wearing the Ring. `Whew! Finally, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to just draw up just four Runes, I didn’t even have to focus on preparing any magical ingredients!’ if any living being capable of proper thought were to hear those thoughts, they would either want to kill themselves, kill Ron or both! A child less than three years of age had managed to not only cast basic spells but had used those spells to turn scrap metal into a Ring that could act as a Wand!! It was a feat that even Sixth Year Hogwarts Students would have difficulty replicating and this `child’ was admonishing himself for `taking too long’!
((I as the author feel ashamed of myself comparing myself to my own character ><))
“Now then, let’s see how much these runes can actually help me!!” this would be the first time, Ron would be casting magic with the help of a Magical Instrument. Even without the help of a `Wand’ Ron had been able to repeatedly cast basic spells like the Illumination Charm, the Levitation Spell and the Severing Charm among others with ease. And now with the Ring, he wanted to test his limits! “Mom! I’m going to the woods to take a look around for some Herbs again!” before Molly could say anything, she saw her son run to the woods in a hurry. “Be careful out there!!” every day for the past few months Ron had spent an hour or so in the shed. While telling her son to be careful, Molly thought back to the first time her son had come back from the woods situated on Weasley Ancestral Land. As a Magical Family with history spanning hundreds maybe thousands of years, the land their house, The Burrow was situated on was separated into several parts that could be used as a Herb Garden, magical Herbs of course, a Stable for Magical creature both big and small and there was even room for a Quidditch Pitch! But due to the lack of maintenance, over time the space was rendered useless and now the Stables and the space for Herbs had become one as the Woods and the Quidditch Pitch was just barely holding on.
Although the lack of maintenance and proper care had killed off most of the herbs and animals on the property, a small number of Magical Creatures and Plants still existed hidden in the undergrowth of the woods!! But it was extremely hard to find any of these creatures and the effort usually resulted in the Weasley’s returning empty handed. But Ron had changed all of that, during the time he was carving Runes onto the Ring, he didn’t want to draw suspicion to the shed and decided to take his things and head to the woods, after telling his mother of course! At first, the visit was only to shift his family’s interest from the shed but the ` Book of Thousand Spells’ had changed all of that. In that book was a Detection Spell that focused magical energy into the caster’s eyes and allowed them to sense the surroundings and project the image into their mind! If a normal young wizard wanted to cast this spell, they wouldn’t be able to! Not because it was a difficult spell or the level of magic or concentration required was high but the rush of information would be incredibly difficult for them to handle and could even injure their mind!!
But if any Two and a half year old could cast a difficult spell that required a sharp mind, Ron, the natural Occlumens could. “Depreheniso Exponentia!!” The rush of images in his mind almost made Ron faint on the spot but he grit his teeth and held on as he had found a surprise!! In just a few seconds he had been able to find a Moly Flower, a Wormwood leaf and even an Asphodel Root!! Ron was just about to run into the house and scream at his parents for wasting nature’s resources and letting precious Herbs rot while the family was slowly becoming more and more destitute. Not to mention the others, just the Asphodel Root which could be used in the creation of various potions, such as the Draught of Living Death and the Wiggenweld Potion would be able to provide for the family for a long time!! But his daily meditation and magic control was able to calm him down and allowed him to think as to why his parents wouldn’t take these herbs and sell them. “Damn it!! Even with this spell, it’s so hard to find these things, no wonder they’ve been just growing here without any care while my father has to work his ass off!!” The practice of drawing Runes had an incredible effect on a person’s mind. To focus on a single thing with no other thoughts in mind, the effects of drawing a single line were no less than meditating for a week! That day Ron brought home the Asphodel Root with some fake enthusiasm mixed with real happiness and showed it to his family.
“Mum! Look what I found in the woods! I think it’s an Asphodel Root but I’m not sure.. Mum?! Mum!” at first Molly thought to look at the `pretty thing’ her son found and praise him a little before getting back to work. But when she actually looked and heard what her son had found, she was shocked. Ron’s shouting had gotten the attention of the others in the house. Charlie ran into the kitchen and hurriedly asked, “Ron, what’s happening? Why are you shouting in the hou.se? Mum? Mum!” after hearing both Ron and Charlie shout, Molly finally got out of her stupor and hurriedly took a closer look at the Herb in Ron’s hand. “It really is! It really is a Asphodel Root!!” hearing his mother’s words, Ron pouted, actually pouted and said, “Of course it’s a Asphodel Root, did you think I brought back a Lilium instead!” Molly looked her son’s poting face and smiled at his attempt to get mad at her while Charlie was shocked by their conversation and quickly took a close look at the object causing a commotion in the Wesley household.
Although Ron spent an hour or two in the shed every day, most of the time was spent with his brothers playing around, doing chores and taking care of their younger sister and learning and preparing for Hogwarts!! every day the Weasley Children would spend some of their time learning Ancient Languages, practicing Arithmancy and memorising basic Herbology books, Potions books and even Magical History related books. Although not everyone was as diligent as Percy and Ron, `Ahem! Fred! Ahem! George!’, the Weasley kids were much more mature than most kids their age. That day, the Weasley Family celebrated the finds of their youngest son. Although there were some doubts deep in their minds, the happiness brought by the magical herb pushed them away to the deepest corners of their minds.
for visiting.
