Reborn Into Pokemon With An Odd System - Volume 1 Chapter 26
After a few hours of walking on the trail of the dense forest, he heard a scream and then felt something dangling from his neck. “Misty not that I don’t enjoy this, even if you’re holding me a little tighter than you should, but what’s wrong?
She let go of one of her hands and pointed at the brown caterpillar which had a horn on its head and stinger in its tail “Another bug!”
Max and Ash turned around and saw that she was pointing at a Weedle. The spiky-haired kid looked at him “Do you want to catch it?”
Max shook his head “Nah thanks”
Ash nodded and brought out Pidgeotto “Use gust!”
The bird flew up and swooped down creating gusts of winds that blew away the innocent Weedle. After repeating the attack a total of 7 times Ash began preparing his pokéball to catch it. Suddenly behind him, he heard Misty yell, “Watch out Max !!”.
Before he could turn around a male voice yelled “HI-YAH”
Instinctively he stepped towards the left and grabbed the man’s hands as they were up preparing for an overhead swing. As soon he had a hold of his arms, Max put his leg in between his opponent and used the momentum of gravity to throw him forward completing the One-arm shoulder throw that he had seen from Judo in his past life.
As soon as he had completed the throw he looked at who he had thrown and found a kid dressed as a Samurai. Max took a deep breath and shook his head “Why the hell do you just appear out of nowhere swinging that fake sword at people. Well, anyway at least that Weedle will still escape so I didn’t mess up too badly.”
When Max threw the Samurai kid he accidentally threw him at Ash making both of them hit the ground. Ash began to stand up and looked at the Samurai kid and began yelling “What the heck are you doing running into me?”
The Samurai looked at the Ash and then at Max and stood up “I’ve been looking for ways to sharpen my skills, I’ve battled 2 trainers from Pallet Town which were super strong and I was told that there are another two of you so I’ve been searching. Also, I would like to give my greetings to a fellow warrior”
Max looked at him with a raised brow “Ummm, sure I guess”
The Samurai dude looked at Max and raised his pokéball “I would like to have a pokémon battle with you.”
At first, he was tempted to battle but then he remembered how long the battle between the Ash and the Samurai lasted. If he quickly beat the guy then they would have to leave early and who knew how much that would mess up the story.
He shook his head and pointed at Ash “You just cost him a Pokémon, I’m sure he wants to get back at you.”
Ash looked at him confused but then opened his eyes wide and looked back at where the Weedle was and found that it was gone. He began to turn red with anger and walked closer to the Samurai “You let Weedle escape!! You ran into me just for a pokémon battle, well then let’s have that battle you wanted, I could use the warmup.”
Max held his laughter and thought “Right, it’s going to be one hell of a long warm-up.” He brought out Zweilous and Charmander and fed them. While the heads of Zweilous seemed to argue about who had finished eating first, he took Charmander towards a rock and patted it on the head “I know that you can use Bite, Scratch, and Ember are there any other moves that you know?”
The orange lizard lowered it’s head and shook it. Max nodded, called in Zweilous, and walked towards a river that was about 50 ft away from where they were “What we are going to do now is raise your water resistance and improve your attacks okay?”
Charmander looked at the water a little unsure but nodded in the end. Max took off his shoes and socks and rolled up his pants “okay then, for now, I just want you to get in the water until it reaches your knees.”
The pokemon did as it was told, as soon as it entered the flame on its tail decreased in intensity, it looked at Max for further instructions, “Now look down at the water and use Ember over and over don’t stop until you feel like you can’t use ember anymore.”
Charmander nodded and began shooting off small embers. He sat down and brought out a composition book and began writing, “Let’s see some attacks that use ember as a base are Smoke Screen, Flamethrower, or Fire Spin. I’ll have to do some more research and see what other attacks Charmander can learn. For now, I’ll try to get it to learn Flamethrower since all it needs is for the fire intensity of Ember to increase, which will also give us a ranged attack that’s something that Charmander lacks at the moment.”
After repeating Ember for about 32 times Charmander seemed to get a sore throat. Max healed it and had it keep attacking constantly. While Charmander did that Max was hanging upside down on a branch doing sit-ups. He was thinking about ways to train Charmander once he was away from Misty and Ash. The top Idea was to build a sauna where the fire-lizard would steam the water, he figured that since water vapor is still water then it would help him with strengthening his body towards water attacks. It had nothing to do with him having a fun and relaxing time.
After being there for 2 hours he headed back and found Ash and the Samurai still ‘battling’. What surprised him was that Caterpie had actually evolved into a Metapod and now the idiots were watching them balance each other out.
He looked at Misty who was sitting on the grass and pointed at the cocoon pokémon “When did that happen.”
She looked at him and sighed “It happened about an hour and a half ago, these idiots are so stubborn.”
Max nodded but then started thinking “Is it possible that a pokémon can evolve after 2 hours from another evolution? He was tempted to find out but decided not to and brought out Charmander he pointed at the 2 Metapods and yelled out “Ember”.
The Charmander released Fire Embers which hit both Metapods. After it ended the only one that was still standing and not knocked out was the Samurai’s. They both looked at him with anger, he began talking before they could say anything. “You two are wasting time, don’t you think that they can stand there and stare at each other forever? What’s the point of waiting here for no reason?”
They both looked at each other and then at their Metapods and sighed. The Samurai called his pokémon back and walked up to Max “You are very wise my friend, You must have had a great master. I will get stronger and look for you again, our battle will be one that is talked about for centuries to come.”
Max looked at him and thought “I’m not wise, you’re just stupid. As for that Master, he’s a freakin devil. I doubt you’re going to see me anytime soon buddy but keep getting stronger I wish you good luck.” He nodded and gave the kid a handshake “Yeah, let’s have a good battle next time we meet.”
They continued following the trail to Pewter city without facing any Beedrill, all Max could do is hope that the Samurai dude would survive the fury of the swarm that was going to be pissed because of what happened to the Weedle that escaped.
After another 7 hours of walking with a few stops to eat something, they made camp near a river and ate. When everyone was asleep he took the pokéball that belonged to Metapod and woke up Pikachu. The mouse pokémon quickly understood what he wanted and began to follow him, after walking about 3 yards they stopped and he brought out Metapod, Magikarp, and Charmander.
He looked at Charmander and Metapod and smiled “Metapod do you think that it’s possible for you to harden so that Charmander can practice Scratch and Bite?”
The green pokémon rocked back and forth “META, META”
Max nodded and looked at the orange lizard “Looks like you can go wild, just make sure to stop if you hurt him. Charmander showed his teeth and pounced at Metapod as if it was a chew toy. He hoped that Metapod didn’t mind, this was the only way that he could correct the story. Since he showed up and altered the story by somehow getting Caterpie injured and then fighting Team Rocket which didn’t give the injured Caterpie a chance of evolving that time then it had to evolve later at the fight with Samurai. He doubted that it could evolve 3 times in one day especially if it’s last evolution was only a little more than an hour ago. So what he had to do was make it evolve.
After an hour of becoming Charmander’s partner, a layer of white light surrounded Metapod, and when it dissipated a Butterfree appeared. Pikachu stopped feeding the fish with electricity and began jumping around congratulating its new bug friend. Max nodded and looked at Charmander “Looks like that’s enough for now, soon we can begin your real training which will be hard so have a good rest.
It nodded and was taken back into its pokéball, the butterfly pokémon was left out so that it could spread its new wings. After another 3 hours of constant electricity, Max stopped healing Magikarb and looked at its reaction. Just like him, the pokémon didn’t seem to be affected by electricity anymore.
He looked at Pikachu and gave a thumbs up, “Looks like our friend here got used to your attacks, do you think that you might be able to throw a full-powered one at us?” The yellow furball hesitated for a second but quickly nodded and suddenly a huge ray of lightning appeared from its body and hit the Magikarb’s crown. It lasted for about 5 seconds and then began to die out, Max didn’t feel the fish move at all, he was about to check if it had been knocked out but suddenly a white light appeared and began to spread out. Max was pushed back by the light and when it dissipated showed up was a 23 ft long Gyarados.
He could do nothing but look at the enormous pokémon, what stunned him was the color of it. The top half of its body had a golden color, and it had a blue underbelly. The Gyarados lowered its head and began nuzzling Max, “Hey big boy, you sure are going to impress a lot of people, aren’t you? Looks like we are set to go for the battle against Brock haha.”
He could tell that it was about to roar, he put his index finger in front of his mouth “SHHH”. It nodded and began to splash it’s tail around. Max brought out his red pokédex and scanned Gyarados, a picture of the normal Gyarados appeared.
“Gyarados the water dragon pokémon, it’s extremely aggressive and destructive, in ancient times it was known to wipe out cities.”
Max whistled as he heard the description “Dang that’s harsh” and then looked at the magnificent beast and compared it to the normal form. The areas that were once blue were now gold. All the parts that were cream-colored and the fins were now dark blue blue, even it’s lips. The thing that stood out the most was its horn which stayed dark blue but had yellow lightning flashing around every now and then. It was really big and flashy, to say the least. Max sighed and thought “Lance and Serenity better have gotten some money from blackmailing, otherwise he didn’t know how long he would be able to feed the giant pokémon.”
He brought out 2 breakfast bars and threw it at the pokémon’s mouth. He also threw one at Pickachu butter free and they all ate together. When they had finished he petted the head of the water dragon and smiled “We’ll get you a good work out soon, for now, take a good break.
“GYARA, GYARA”
He called him back to the pokéball and began walking back with Pikachu while Butterfree flew above them. When they were in camp Butterfree went back into its pokéball and Pikachu went and laid next to Ash.”
Max looked at the stars as he thought about a Gyarados VS Onix battle. He also smiled and thought “If I was able to add the lighting attribute to Gyarados what other combinations can I make?.”
