Reborn Into Pokemon With An Odd System - Volume 1 Chapter 31
The next morning he woke up at 5 and began making some scrambled eggs. Serenity woke up and sat down on the dining table and looked at his back as he cooked. After he was finished he served 3 plates and covered what was left. He sat down in front of Serenity and smiled “Hope you like it.”
She took it and nodded “Thanks I will.”
Max looked at the door that led to one of the bedrooms and sighed “Looks like I overdid it with the dose.”
He walked in and began to heal Lance’s body removing the narcotics. The servant quickly stood up and stretched “You and I have a lot to discuss, kid. Even if that little stunt of yours helped me out I still don’t like the idea of being drugged, not by a man anyway.”
Max laughed and nodded “I made some scrambled eggs, let’s eat, and then we can get ready, there are a few realtors that we have to talk to.”
Lance nodded “Alright, oh, and do you think that you could give me my bag?”
Max nodded and brought out the bag from his storage, “There you go, now hurry up the food is getting cold.”
After the three of them finished eating, Max continued coding and waited for either servant to finish taking a shower. Once they had all gotten a turn the three of them sat down on the table and began discussing their requirements for their new home.
They headed down to the lobby where they found a new receptionist. Max was surprised to see that Lance just gave the new face a wave and smile. They arrived at the first realtor office and entered.
There was a young man who looked at them surprised “Hello, what can I help you with ?”.
Lance stepped forward “Hey man we are here to get ourselves a nice big home”
The man nodded “We can help with that, it’s just that I’m a little surprised you guys came here so early. Most of our clients come here around 11, this is the first time I have anyone come here at 7:40.”
The blue-haired servant nodded “Yeah, it’s just that we recently arrived from our old town and have a lot to do today. We decided that picking our new home was one of the most important things so yeah that’s the reason we are here.”
The employee nodded “I understand, then let me welcome you to Celadon City. Now what exactly is it that you want from your home and what is your budget.”
Lance walked forward and gave the man a handshake “Thanks man, now before we get into all that business let introduce each other. My name is Lance, the brat behind me is my son Max, and the lovely young girl is his friend Serenity.
The man smiled awkwardly “Right sorry about that, my name is Brad. I’m normally well mannered but it’s still morning and I forgot to introduce myself. Not much of a morning person hehe”
They followed Brad to a small office. When they sat down Brad turned on his computer and looked at them.
The blue-haired servant nodded and began telling the employee what they wanted out of the house, “Well like we said before we are from a small town and would love it if we could find something outside of the city. We also wanted 3 rooms and 3 bathrooms, a bas.e.m.e.nt, a big fenced yard, and a garage. Our budget is around 350k and 400k.”
Brad nodded and began typing down the information that he was being given. After a few minutes, he sighed and shook his head “It doesn’t seem like we have something like that available at the moment, there are some homes but they have 2 rooms / 2 bath and unfortunately none of them have a bas.e.m.e.nt.”
Lance shrugged and let out a big breath, “well it’s fine we’ll just have to see if any of the other realtor agencies have what we are looking for if not then we will have to start thinking of picking the next best thing.” Brad nodded and shook the hand of all three and guided them out the door “Good luck, sorry I wasn’t able to help.”
After going through the same thing 4 times they finally managed to find an agency that had something close to what they were looking for. It was a small home that was located inside the forest between Route 14 and Celadon City. It fit almost all of their requirements perfectly.
The house had a total of 3500 square feet and the yard was about 26,000 square feet. All of it was covered by a white wooden 5ft high fence. The realtor that was helping them was named Peter and he had agreed to take them to see the house.
After a 20 minute ride into the forest they arrived at the house, it was a 3-floor A-Frame home with a garage connected on the left side. It seemed to be completely built out of wood and glass. To get to the main door one had to go up circular stairs of a 20ft by 10ft deck.
When they went in there was a large living room, unfortunately, since it had no furniture the house seemed dead. The inside was illuminated by the sunlight that entered through the large windows that were angled up due to the triangular shape of the building. On the first floor there was the master bedroom/bathroom, half bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room.
The second floor had a room/bathroom, and apparently the wife of the old owner used to be a dance teacher so more than half of the second floor was covered by mirrors and with no walls just pillars. There was also another room without windows that was used as a storage room next to the bathroom. What amazed him the most was the view that he got from the room of the forest, it really was amazing. He looked at Lance and Serenity and smiled “I have dibs on this floor.”
They went down to the bas.e.m.e.nt and were greeted with something they didn’t expect, in the bas.e.m.e.nt, there was a miniature indoor soccer field. At the end there was a concrete wall and when they entered they were greeted with a room and bathroom that seemed to be lit by small windows on the ground. It illuminated the corners of the room and was reflected throughout the whole room with mirrors.
Max was about to open his mouth but Lance beat him to it “This floor is mine, you already have yours kid.”
Max sighed “Well that’s what I get for choosing early, then Serenity congrats you get both the Master bedroom and bathroom. She smiled and nodded.
Lance turned to the realtor “So Peter, I find it interesting that you still haven’t given us a price other than you saying ‘It’s close to your price range’. The reason that we came here is because the exterior of the house on your picture was interesting and the rooms and kitchen were also pretty spacious. I still like how you purposely left out some characteristics so that we would be surprised when we saw it in person, but now it’s time to talk business. How much is it?”
Peter gave Lance a nervous smile, the gaze that the blue-haired was giving him made his hairs stand on end “Ummm well the house is valued at a more than fair price. The owner had a wife and kid living here with him. He was the CEO of a tech company however after an unfortunate car accident he lost both his wife and son. After that he started to lose himself to alcohol. Then a few years later he met someone and managed to recuperate. This house brings him a lot of painful memories so he decided to sell it and for a good price. His condition was that we sell it to a family so that they could live the comfortable life that he once did. He will also be using the money that he gets to start up a new technology company since he lost the one he used to own.”
Max nodded, based on what Peter said he started to like the stranger’s personality.
Lance nodded “Losing a child scars you for life, I wish him luck. Well now that we know all the details can you give us a price already?”
Peter nodded “The house is being sold for 550k.”
The blue-haired servant lifted a brow and looked at the realtor “Dude what’s the point in asking for a budget if you take us to a house that cost 150k more than what we told you.”
Max was left with his mouth open as he thought “What the F.u.c.k, 500k for something this good? Is it because inflation hasn’t made much of an impact yet or could it be that the man is some sort of angel that decided to sell for way too cheap.” He looked around at the small indoor soccer field and mumbled “This house could easily cost 1.5 million if not 2.5 back on earth.”
He turned around and looked at Peter who was being chewed out by the angry servant. Max quickly walked towards Lance “Father can I talk to you real quick?”
The blue-haired servant looked at him and nodded, they walked to the corner of the room leaving Perter standing alone since Serenity was always next to him. He leaned closer to Lance and whispered “Take the deal, a house like this back on earth cost 4 times more than what we are being charged. Pretend that I asked you to please buy it because of the soccer field or something.”
Lance smiled and leaned to Max’s ear “Glad we are getting it, with how cheap you are I imagined that you wouldn’t want to buy it since it went over your price.”
Max shook his head “I’m not cheap, I just don’t trust you with financial decisions. Another thing, ask him if he could pass us his client’s contact information if not then just give him my Pokemail”
The Servant smiled and stood back straight and gave a loud sigh and scratched his head as he walked back to Peter. “Man, see what you did now. My kid is begging me to buy the house, Ugh looks like I have no other choice.”
Max raised his brow when he heard Lance use the word ‘begging’.
Peter had a wide smile on his face “Thanks, I’m sure that you won’t regret it. So when do you think that you can do the paperwork?”
Lance yawned “Let’s do it now.”
The realtor nodded and asked them to wait in the living room as he ran to his car and grabbed a contract. He put it in front of Lance and then the Servant took it and passed it to Max without even looking.
Peter had a surprised look on his face and looked at Lance “Ummm Sir what’s going on.”
The blue-haired servant shook his head “I’m training my son to be a good businessman, if he can’t handle simple paperwork for the purchase of a house then I need to start teaching him from the basics again.”
Peter looked at Max with a sad gaze as he thought “This poor child, I’m sure that your father is doing it for your own good. Just hang on and keep going, in the future, you will look back and thank him.”
After Max had filled all of the paperwork he handed it back to the realtor. Peter looked at Lance with an awkward expression as if asking him if he was sure that he didn’t want to check the paperwork.
The servant shook his head “Trust me the kid can do this in his sleep, now when can we pay you and move in?”
Peter scanned through the paperwork and nodded “In about 5 days, the owner and I will collect the money and give you your keys.” He ripped up the yellow sheets of the paperwork that had a copy of the contract and the information and then handed it to Lance.
They started to walk towards the car and Max let out a relieved sigh and thought “Thank god that he didn’t ask for a credit score or any financial information. It looks like the system here is really different than on earth.”
The realtor took them back to the agency and they parted ways after agreeing to meet there 5 days later at 11.
Lance yawned and stretched “Finally, done with that so can we go now, or is there something that we still have to do?”
Max nodded “Yeah we need to get you a bank account and then buy some pokémon food.” Both the servants nodded and walked behind Max as he led them to the Meowth Bank that he had seen when he was going to the computer store the previous day.
They arrived and made a bank account for Lancer and deposited 10k. Then they went to the store and bought 6 big bags of pokémon food. They went to an alley, put the food in his storage, and then teleported to Viridian Forest.
There they brought out their pokémon and gave them their food. Gyarados had a good time meeting all the new Pokémon since it was the first time that he met them. Lance’s Scizor on the other hand seemed to get excited and wanted to have a battle against the giant pokémon.
While Max was feeding Charmander he saw Lance approach the storm dragon. He turned around and waited for the show. The servant got close to Gyarados but as soon as he touched the pokémon a bolt of lightning appeared from the crown and traveled through the body of the pokémon and to the point of contact. The Servant was sent flying and his hair was shooting straight up.
Max looked at the surprised face and burst in laughter. Lance looked at him and gave an evil smile as he worded out “I’ll remember this.”
After they all ate they sat down and watched the pokémon interact with one another. Serenity looked at them with her eyes shining, Max smiled and layed down on the ground. He gave a small snap and 5k appeared on Lance’s hands, “Buy all the pokéballs you can with that money, we’ll meet you at the hotel to pick our things up. We have 5 days till we move to our new home, we can keep on paying for a hotel but there’s no point since we are going to spend most of our time outside. During these 5 days I want you to look around for any possible sites that you see for our HQ. Hopefully we can start building soon.”
Lance nodded and called back his pokémon “I’ll get started on that.”
Max wished him luck and sent Lance back to the alley they had come from. After the Servant was gone he turned around and looked at Serenity “When he gets back we’ll give you 6 pokéballs to catch the pokémon you want in your team. The rest will be used to catch the pokémon we need for the company. After the 5 days pass and we get home, I want you to travel around for 2 weeks and catch some Pokémon that you think you will work well with.”
She smiled and nodded “I’ll make sure to do my best, Max.”
They traveled back to the alley and went to the Pokémon Center. There they walked up to Nurse Joy and smiled “Hi, do you think that I could use your phone real quick?”
The nurse nodded “Yes they are public you can just come in and use them.”
Max thanked her and walked towards the green monitor that was connected to a phone, he picked it up and dialed a number. After a few rings, the phone was picked up and a feminine voice came out of the phone “Hello, this is Maria Lane Speaking, how can I help you?”
He smiled and said “Well I would like to see your face mother, having the words ‘Voice Only’ in front of me is somewhat annoying.”
There was a quiet second but then suddenly she yelled “Max is that really you? It’s been about a week since we saw you. We were so worried, where are you right now?”
The camera appeared and showed her watery eyes, he smiled and waved at her “I’m in Celadon City”.
She nodded “So you crossed from Viridian Forest into the city, just like Lance did the first time.”
He nodded and grabbed Serenity’s hand and pulled her towards the Camera “Mom I would like to present to you my new friend,, her name is Serenity and we will be traveling together for a while.”
Maria looked at the pretty girl that was next to her son, she put up her index finger and said: “Give me a minute.” She ran off and they could hear her yelling “Lex, Lex, where the hell are you when I need you. Our son just called and he had a girl with him, our boy is growing up.”
Next to him Serenity was giggling “I like her hehe.”
Max just gave her an awkward smile and shook his head “Wait till you meet my dad.”
A pair of minutes passed before Maria appeared with a red-haired man “Son, is it true? That lovely girl is going to be my daughter in law? I can tell just by looking at her that she cares about you very much.”
Max shook his head “She’s a friend, dad. I doubt that she would like me, but if she does then she might become family hehe.”
Serenity quickly smiled and nodded “I’d like that.”
He looked at her with his mouth open and then shook his head while he thought “What the hell did I just do. How could I have forgotten that she isn’t someone who shies away.”
Max gave her an awkward smile, his parents were ecstatic. Maria started talking about who was going to make the cake and where they were going to get the flowers from.
Lex on the other hand gave Serenity a thumbs up “Now there’s a woman who knows when she found something good. I’m happy that you will become my daughter in law, from now on just call me father.
He sighed “We’re too young for that, anyway how is everything going?”
Both of his parents seemed sad “Well you left us and then Lance did as well so it’s been pretty lonely.”
Max pretended not to know “Really he left, did he say why?”
They both nodded “He went to try to find out about his past.”
He nodded and sighed. His father laughed “But I’m sure that he will come back and visit again someday so don’t feel too bad. Anyway have you caught any new pokémon?”
Max smiled “Yep, I caught a Magikarp. Now I know that doesn’t sound too impressive but the thing is that when I was using it to train with Charmander it suddenly evolved into what seems to be water, flying, and electric type.”
When his father heard him he froze and repeated “Electric?”
Max nodded “Yeah it looks really cool, just don’t let anyone know though. I want to use it to surprise people.”
Lex nodded “Don’t worry son, I won’t tell a soul. Well, we have to go, your mom has an appointment with the doctor in a few minutes .”
When Maria heard her husband she smacked him across the head. Max looked at his mother and asked “Are you okay mom, do you feel sick?”
She quickly shook her head “No it isn’t anything bad I just wanted to give the doctor some of the herbs that they wanted.”
Max looked at her but he knew that his mother was tight-lipped. He sighed and nodded “Alright mother see you both later.”
They both smiled “By Max take care of yourself and Serenity. Oh and I can’t wait to meet you in person Serenity.”
When they hung up he sat down and began to wonder what was going on, he had a suspicion but he wanted to make sure that it was right.
Max began to walk away but then he heard ringing on the computer of Nurse Joy. She answered and then looked around and pointed at Max, “Professor Oak is calling, and based on his description, it’s you who he’s looking for.”
Max nodded and took the phone and looked at the monitor that showed the old man “Hey professor what’s going on?”
Oak smiled and waved “How is it going Max, I just heard from your father that you are in Celadon City.”
He nodded “Yeah I took a shortcut.”
The old man nodded “You don’t cease to amaze me, haha, trainers stay away from doing what you did because there are no trails so the possibility of getting lost is extremely high. It usually takes them a few months to get to Celadon City so good job my boy.”
Max nodded “Why not just simply make a trail then it would save Viridian City a whole lot of time?”
The professor shook his head “If only it were that simple, whenever they try making the trail, the pokémon in the forest go wild and start attacking the workers. There was even a time where they would get out of the forest and attack nearby towns and cities.”
Max nodded and thought “Good that just means more business for me hehe. If people from Viridian City can’t make a trail then they would be one of the number one clients of Poké-Express.”
Oak began looking at Max excitedly, “So my boy how many pokémon have you caught?”
Max brought up his index finger, “One, it’s a Gyarados.”
The professor seemed a little upset but nodded “That’s good, it’s a strong pokémon. Just be careful since it has a nasty attitude from time to time.”
He nodded and then heard a doorbell. The professor looked at his camera and then rubbed both his hands together “Sorry Max I have to go, my lasagna from the diner just arrived.”
They said goodbye and then the monitor turned black. He thanked Nurse Joy and started walking back to the alley. Once they were there he looked at Serenity “Do you think that you can do me a favor?”
She immediately nodded “Don’t worry I’m sure it’s nothing bad, I’ll do my best to get the answers that you are looking for.
He nodded and thanked her “Wait for me in the cave. I don’t know exactly how much time you need to find out what’s going on so I’ll give you four hours.” He handed her his sweater “Put this on, you might be invisible but my dad’s pokémon can still smell you. He would attack anyone with a strange scent that is following my parents, hopefully, my scent would at least save you from getting bitten or roasted alive.”
Serenity put on the sweater and smiled “All ready then.”
Max gave her a thumbs up “I’ll be teleporting you to the roof of my house so be prepared.”
She nodded and with a wave of his hand she disappeared.
He sighed and looked at the sky “Please tell me it’s what I’m thinking and not anything serious.”
