Reborn Into Stargate - Volume 1 Chapter 3 The Second Step
I spent another few hours inside the asuran wapiti just in case the Ancients decided to come back to see if they finished the job. But like always the Ancients were arrogant and just assumed that nothing survived. After I was pretty sure that they wouldn’t be returning, I left the wapiti’s body. It was the weird pins and needles feeling that I felt when I first went into the body. I was “sweated” out of the poor animals pores. It was just as disgusting as it sounds. But it had to be done.
After probably the most disgusting moment of my life, I made my way over to the stargate. Thankfully, everything was intact. I looked back towards the still burning embers of the replicators and thanked my lucky stars that I wasn’t destroyed. I may be immune to quite a lot but a shit ton of drones is probably not one of them. When I got to the dhd, I quickly searched through my memories to find the address of Taranis. Thank god, I am such a stargate nerd. I found a memory of myself looking at the stargate wiki. I saw myself going through the information on the Inferno episode of the second season. I remember thinking to myself how stupid the Atlantis Expedition was for wasting the Orion by only using its drone weapons. Lantean warsh.i.p.s had more than just drone weapons.
You could clearly see what seems to be some sort of Lantean pulse weapons. If I remember correctly, they are powerful enough to heavily damage Wraith hive sh.i.p.s. All they had to do was try to get the pulse weapons to work. They only ever seemed to care about drones. While yes, drones are probably one of the most dangerous weapon ever created by the Ancients, it doesn’t mean that they can only use drones. Sorry, I was just ranting. Wait… why am I apologizing? It doesn’t matter.
So, after I went of on a tangent, I quickly used my memories to dial Taranis. The stargate made the iconic whoosh sound as the wormhole connected. I took a deep breath, even though I have no need to breath now, and walked through the stargate, And let me tell you, the feeling of going through a stargate… it felt like nothing at all. Which was really disappointing to find out. I thought that it would feel like going through water or something because of the way it looks but apparently, it doesn’t feel like anything. I literally felt nothing as I went through. I didn’t even see the cool wormhole effect that they show when someone goes through. It was very disappointing.
Anyway, I arrived on Taranis and the first thing that I noticed was that the outpost was already abandoned. Which was great news for me. I could just waltz on in there and prepare for the future. I can’t really do anything at the moment. Until I fully digest the information that I downloaded from the Asurans, I need to lay low. After I digest the information, I will be able to repair the Orion, though I will probably not call it that. I will need a ship to move around the galaxy properly. Travelling through the stargate would not be the safest. And with the ship, I can probably be able to excavate resources from planets when needed. I would just need to use the scanners on the ship on planets to see if they contain naquadah and then I just send down any replicator bugs that I make to mine the resources.
Of course, that is still quite awhile away from now. Right now I have to see what things were left behind. There may still be goodies in here that weren’t shown in the show. The reason probably being that anything of value was lost in the 10,000 years that the Lanteans had left.
I made my way from the stargate toward the outpost. I could see the observation window that oversaw the stargate. The surroundings were eerily quiet. The entrance to the outpost was just a dozen or so meters away from the stargate. I waved my hand in front of the door control panel. The door made a swish sound as it opened. The interior lighting turned on as it detected my presence.
I ventured further into the outpost, poking my head into the different rooms of the main corridor. All I saw were rooms that contained nothing of value. There was furniture that seems to have been left behind when the outpost was abandoned not long ago. I did find a personal shield that was dropped on the floor of one of the rooms. I picked it up and connected with it to discover that it actually still held a bit of charge. It probably wouldn’t matter if I had it on me or not but I thought what the hell, better to have extra protection than regret it later. I put the personal shield onto my sternum and before I could activate it, the shield was sucked into my body.
I started to freak out before I finally calmed down to feel the pins and needles feeling I felt when I chose to hide in the wapiti. I entered my mindscape and went into the Information room. I just felt that there was a change in the room. I saw that on one of the bookshelves, there was a information cube but instead of a progress bar on top, it said “Learned”. I was stunned for a second before quickly making my way towards the cube. I saw that it was labelled as “Lantean personal shield”.
This turned out to be really great news for me because now I won’t have to wait months for every new piece of technology. I could probably just try and assimilate it into myself. That should probably either allow me to instantly learn about the new piece of technology, or give me a boost in the progress bar. Another thing I could probably do is create more replicators that are connected to me by my subspace link and have them try to learn it in pieces and upload it into my personal subspace link.
As I was thinking about all the new possibilities with this newfound ability, there was a hissing sound that came from the Information room . Above on the ceiling a robotic arm descended and picked up the cube. Then it proceeded towards the back of the room. I was startled for a moment before I quickly followed suit.
The arm was moving at a pace that had me running to catch up. It quickly reached the end of the room and went through an opening that was specifically for the arm. Beneath the arm was a door that was labeled as “Comprehended”. I am going to guess and say that this room is the room where the knowledge that I already know is stored. I swung my arm in front of the door panel and the door opened.
Inside the room was a giant screen that showed a list.
Comprehended Knowledge:
– Freshman Year university level education
– Lantean coding techniques
– Asgard beam weapons
– Lantean personal shield
– Replication
So, I only know 5 things at the moment, though one of those things is just my 12+ years of schooling back on Earth. But I shouldn’t complain, I know most of the people in Pegasus wouldn’t be lucky enough to get an education as extensive as mine was. The really surprising thing, though it probably shouldn’t be, was my ability to make more replicators. This is a good thing for me though. I could definitely use the help of more replicators to fix the Orion and the city ship on the lord-protector’s planet.
I’ll first have to find some neutronium to build the nanites. I could just quickly pop back to Asuras to get some, which is probably what I will do after I look through the outpost some more. Hopefully I can find more technology left behind to assimilate.
