Reborn Into Stargate - Volume 1 Chapter 5 A Small Problem
After I had come up with a possible plan, I spent the next 2 months fixing the Orion. I used the outposts manufacturing room to make all the new power crystals needed to replace the damaged ones on board the Orion. I had to wait about a month and a half before I could work on the hyperdrive and inertial dampeners. After I had integrated the knowledge I proceeded to spend the next two weeks fixing the hyperdrive and inertial dampeners. I actually fixed them in the first week but spent the next week actually learning how they actually worked. Even though I have the knowledge of how they worked, it is better to actually put the skills into use to gain experience. I actually fixed everything except for the sublights. I actually had no idea on how to fix them. But thankfully, the outposts’ dry dock had an automated repair function that I conveniently just discovered after I fixed everything other than the sublights. The repair function sent out mini drones that did its job after I pumped quite amount of resources into it. They looked somewhat like the repair drones on the Destiny. It took about 19 hours for the repair drones to do its thing. In the mean time I spent the next 3 days building 8 Asgard beam weapon emitters. I then spent the next day placing 4 in the front portion and 4 in the rear. I put 4 on the dorsal and ventral hulls on both portions.
After the Orion was fully repaired, I commanded half of the bug replicators to stay in the outpost and to keep any unwanted guests from entering and order the rest to board the Orion with me. I commanded them to just roam the halls of the ship and to respond to any emergency that might happen while the ship was in motion. I made my way to the bridge and sat down in the captains chair. I felt myself connect with the ship fully and did a quick systems check. Primary and secondary power, check. Life support, check (even though I technically don’t need it). Sensors, check. Navigation, check. Inertial dampeners, check. Sublights, check. Hyperdrive, check. Shields, check. Weapons, check. I also discovered that the Orion also has a core drive. Using it, I was able to see in real time the other Lantean Aurora class warsh.i.p.s. There weren’t a lot left from what I could see and many more were being destroyed quickly.
I sent a command to the hanger bay doors to open. The doors made a shrill screeching sound as the gears opened the heavy hanger doors. After the doors fully opened, I commanded the ship to rise and head for orbit. The ship roared to life and successfully rose slowly up into the air. After it cleared the hanger, the sublights kicked in and the Orion soared towards space. I was in orbit in a matter of seconds. Even though I did a check on everything I haven’t tested them. So, I decided to do a quick check. I scanned the solar system for any targets that i could use for a weapons test and discovered a fairly large asteroid belt. I directed the ship to head for one of the bigger asteroids in the belt.
I “saw” in my mind where the asteroid that I was targeting was in relation to the ship. I could feel the amount of drones that I had on board numbered in the few hundred. Nowhere near full capacity. That would be something that I fix after I gain access to the city ship on the lord protectors planet. Instead of wasting the drones, I direct the pulse weapons to charge up and to fire when at max charge. The turrets rotate towards the asteroid and fire after a second. The full volley of 8 turrets on the dorsal hull fired at once. The asteroid was destroyed in a dusty explosion. Sending debris everywhere. Some pieces even large enough that could have damaged the ship had the shields not been in place to deflect them. So with this small test, I found out that the weapons, shields, navigation, sublights, and sensors all work as they should. The only thing that was left was to test the Asgard beam weapons and the hyperdrive. I quickly selected another asteroid, this one even bigger than the last and powered up the beam weapons. Using the 4 emitters in the front of the ship, I blasted the huge asteroid with a volley. The damage was immense. The asteroid was cut up like a big piece of butter.
Well, that concluded all the tests other than the hyperdrive. Now I just had to choose my first destination. And I think I might have an idea on where to go for my test run. That is, if where I want to go is actually there at this time. I quickly pull up the core drive information and check the sh.i.p.s sensors to see if what I am looking for is there. And thankfully, though not for the people at the place where I want to go, it was where it should be. After I confirmed that, I disconnected the core drive from the ship, making it so that the other sh.i.p.s wouldn’t be able to see me on their core drives.
I commanded the ship to set navigation to the place’s coordinates and head into hyperspace. The Orion adjusted itself before creating a hyperspace window and accelerating inside. The sh.i.p.s computer “told” me that it would reach the coordinates in roughly 3 hours considering that Taranis was a fairly far distance away and the coordinates were at the edge of the galaxy. I made my way to one of the jumper bays. Thankfully I didn’t have to walk the full length of the huge ship. I quickly made my way using the sh.i.p.s’ internal transporters. Though what was stupid in my opinion is that there were a sparse amount of transporters in the ship. There was only 5 transporters on board. One lead to the bridge, one led to the auxiliary bridge, one led to engineering, one led to the power room, and the last led to the jumper bays. Fun fact, I also discovered that the ship has a ring room. Though the rings look way different than the Milky Way variety. Instead of the grey rings, the rings seem to be the Lantean orange/red color scheme that they have going on. I am guessing that they can use the rings to move from one ship to the other or possibly to get from the ship down to the ground when there was no jumpers.
Anyway, after I used the internal transporters to get to the bay, I swung my arm in front of the bay airlock. The airlock’s interior door opened and I stepped inside. The interior door closed and I swung my arm to open the exterior door. The door opened without venting of atmosphere because the bay doors where closed and even if they weren’t, there was the bay shields that can hold the atmosphere in place.
Inside the bay was surprisingly a few jumpers. Not a full bay but there was at least a dozen or so jumpers in this bay. And there are more than just one bay, so who knows how many more jumpers are on board. This is good news for me because I currently don’t have the manufacturing capacity to build a large amount of sh.i.p.s. Even sh.i.p.s as small as puddle jumpers. This is also good news because I now have a few fighters to help me out in ship to ship combat. I know for a fact that the jumpers can be remote controlled cause during the season 1 episode the Siege part 2, McKay and Zelenka were able to connect the drone chair and the puddle jumpers. The disappointing thing was that they never got to use it and they just sort of forgot about it. Oh well, their loss.
After I checked out the jumper bay, I made my way to engineering. With the internal transporter doing its job, I was there in about a minute. I opened the door and saw the ancient style consoles. The screens showing the status of the hyperdrive. I went up to the console and directed it to do a simple diagnostic while in hyperspace. Obviously I can’t do a very extensive one while the ship was in hyperspace. If I tried, the sh.i.p.s failsafe would engage and drop the ship out of hyperspace so the hyperdrive doesn’t malfunction while trying to do a deep diagnostic and stay in hyperspace at the same time.
The simple diagnostic was finished after a few seconds. The screen showed me that the hyperdrive was at 100% efficiency and that with a boost in power it could be even faster. But I already knew that because that has always been the case. And also the fact that the Orion’s hyperdrive was still the interstellar kind, even though it was fast enough to keep up with the Daedalus. I have a vague idea of how much faster the hyperdrive will be after I get to my destination. The Asgard hyperdrives on the O’Neill were fast enough to cross the distance between Ida and the Milky Way in a matter of hours. And I am guessing that the Ancient hyperdrives would be advanced and powerful enough to do the same.
As I was imagining the possibilities that would open up with having a hyperdrive that fast, the ship alerted me that there was a disturbance it was picking up on its sensors. I quickly stopped my train of thought and made my way to the bridge. After I sat down in the captains chair, a hologram appeared in front of me, showing where the disturbance the sh.i.p.s sensors detected. It seemed to be a planet that had no gate address, at least none that I could find from the gate addresses that I had downloaded into my brain. The sensors had detected a single hive with 2 cruiser escorts engaging in a battle with 2 unknown class sh.i.p.s. But they were only unknown to the Ancients and the Wraith. To me, they were a very familiar ship that I didn’t think existed in this dimension. It was the unknown alien ship from the alternate dimension that Sheppard’s team fought off on an a badly damaged alternate dimension Daedalus. From what the long range sensors on the Orion could detect from hyperspace, the Hive ship and its cruisers was getting its ass handed to it. So it seems that I need to make a slight detour to take care of this, hopefully, small problem. Cause no way in hell do I want these powerful aliens coming in and mucking up the place. Hopefully the Orion with the new Asgard beam weapons and its own considerably powerful armaments will be enough to destroy the two sh.i.p.s. Looks like I’ll be giving the Wraith a hand with this one.
