Reborn Into Stargate - Volume 1 Chapter 7 Interference
P.O.V Higher Planes
As Ali was stripping the two Reaper sh.i.p.s of anything useful, in the higher planes of existence was an ascended being going by the name of Videns. Videns had ascended millions of years ago, from the time the Ancients were still inhabiting the Milky Way galaxy. What made Videns special was the special ability of seeing the many different possible futures. Although many near ascended and ascended beings have precognitive visions, theirs were never as strong and never gave the full picture. But Videns was cursed with the ability to see all the different possibilities. And it was for this ability of his showing Videns the consequences of what might happen if Ali was to do what he planned for this early. If he was allowed to do all that he wanted, the balance of their reality would become unbalanced. If Ali was left to build an armada of advanced sh.i.p.s piloted by nearly unkillable robots, the future would become too muddled. This reality wasn’t supposed to, nor will it, become the plaything of Ali. Certain scenarios must happen for this reality to stay balanced. If those even’t don’t happen, then this reality will unravel. It was for this reason that Videns decided to go against the rules that they have set in place for the past millions of years. He was going to interfere with the lower planes.
P.O.V Ali
After the last bit was stripped from the two sh.i.p.s, I returned to the Orion and made my way to the bridge. The Reaper sh.i.p.s weapons were quickly analyzed and I discovered that the weapons weren’t all that hard to build. I wouldn’t even need to build new weapon placements on the Orion. I could just modify the current pulse weapons on board to change them into the Reaper flaming plasma weapons. I ordered 400 out of the 450 replicator bugs to start the modifications. It would take them about 3 hours to convert all the pulse weapons on the Orion. While I waited for the modifications to take place I ordered another 38 to start patrols around the ship. The last 12 were ordered to meet me at the bridge. After I had made it to the bridge, I saw the 12 bugs gathered in the bridge. I walked towards them and sent out an order for them to disassemble. I was going to make another human form replicator. But it wouldn’t have another personality, rather I was essentially going to clone myself by splitting my consciousness into two and having one half stay in my original body and the other half taking control of my new body at the same time.
The disassembled replicator nanites flew up from the ground into my body after I increased the attraction between myself and the nanites. I immediately got to work making an exact copy of my body. After spending a good half hour on actually copying myself, the new body split from mine like a cell does during mitosis. I split my consciousness in two and willed myself (2nd half) into my new body. And suddenly I am looking right at myself. It was like there was a mirror in front of me.
It was really cool until I discovered that my new body doesn’t get the same perks as my original body. The perk missing from this body is the replicator disruptor weapon and being spaced immunity. It seems that only my original body has the immunity which is somewhat disappointing but not really a big problem. Even if this new body gets destroyed, I would still have my original body and I would still be able to make another body to either split my consciousness into or make a new replicator all together.
Anyway, I sat down in the captains chair and my other half sat down to the front right console. After the replicator bugs were finished with the modifications, I commanded the Orion to jump into hyperspace to continue on my journey. I still had about 2 hours of travel time left before the ship would reach my destination. The silence was kind of awkward. There was two of me sitting in the same room with the same exact thoughts. We turned to look at each other at the same exact time, which was creepy but what do you expect when you are literally looking at yourself.
“So…” we both said at the same time. Our eyes widened at the same time before we started laughing at how stupid the situation is.
“This is so stupid. I don’t even know why this feels awkward. We are the same exact person. But I am kind of glad to have a bit of company. Even if that company is myself.”
“Yeah. I don’t even know why we decided to do this. I guess we were just feeling bored from having no one to talk to. We were fine before we spoke with that damn Wraith bitch. I can’t believe she just ditched us after we rescued her.”
“We can deal with her later. If she even survives the war. I guess after not having any interactions with another being other than the bugs made us feel like we were missing something. Even with the perk that allows us to live for thousands of years can’t rewrite instinct for a living being, even if that being is technically no longer “alive” in the biological sense.”
“Ok, whatever. So… what should we do to pass the next… hour and 55 minutes?”
“Hmm… want to play chess?”
“How would we play chess? I’m 100% sure that chess doesn’t exist yet.”
“Well, we could just invent it now. We can either see if the ship can create it on a holograph through our memories, or we could just disassemble a bug replicator and build the set ourselves.”
“Let’s try the holograph first, if it doesn’t work we’ll just do the disassemble thing.”
And so, I spent the next two hours playing chess with myself. It was literally impossible to win because of two reasons. One, I suck at chess. And two, I was playing against myself. Anyway, we stopped playing chess when Orion dropped out of hyperspace. I could see the extensive damage on the Aurora. There were no other sh.i.p.s around and no power readings were coming from the ship. But that didn’t mean that the ship was fully dead cause I knew that the stasis pods were shielded from scanners. I maneuvered the Orion to be side by side with the Aurora. It seems that the rings still worked on the Aurora but it seems like the power source was about to die. I quickly ordered the replicator bugs to ring over to access the sh.i.p.s computer. I only needed two things from the sh.i.p.s computer and hopefully there wouldn’t be any problems with downloading them.
After a quick 10 minutes, I knew that the bugs had successfully accessed the sh.i.p.s computer and downloaded the two bits of info along with something extra. The bugs discovered a hidden report about a secret base the Ancients had recently evacuated. The report didn’t mention anything other than that there was something special being built there and that they shut everything down and took all essentials. It was a small factory of sorts. The location was literally near two black holes orbiting each other in a counter-rotation. And it was on the other side of the galaxy.
Another thing that I discovered was the weakness in Wraith technology sounded awfully like what the Attero device does. Apparently the Wraith technology are weak to a specific subspace frequency that weakens their technology considerably. I’m guessing that even though the Aurora never got to complete its mission, Janus was still able to figure it out. Though I don’t think Janus has built the device yet. I am pretty sure that the war is about to enter its climax and the last siege of Atlantis of the war is probably going to start soon.
Anyway, I and my double got up to modify the Orion’s hyperdrive from the interstellar kind to the intergalactic kind. With the boost that the hyperdrive will get shortly, I’ll be able to make my way through Pegasus in just a couple of short hours. The Daedalus class battlecruisers were already fast compared to other races with hyperspace capability excluding the Ancients, Asgard and the Ori (though technically the Ori used ascended knowledge). The Daedalus could travel at about 54,750,000 times faster than light. The Asgard hyperdrive on board could most definitely allow the ship to move even faster with enough power, and it was demonstrated when a zpm was tied into its hyperdrive. The Daedalus usually takes about 18 days to make the intergalactic journey between Earth and Atlantis. With a zpm it took them about 4 days. With the Orion’s part naquadria and part vacuum energy generators powering the ship, the Orion could definitely match Asgard O’Neill class sh.i.p.s in speed. With a zpm hooked in, it would be like comparing a human to a nascar.
P.O.V. Lantean Council Room
The Council was having a meeting about the ongoing war with the Wraith. They were discussing possible contingencies to put in place when the members of the council saw a bright light form in the middle of the room. Their attentions were drawn immediately. No doubt confused about why one of their Ascended brethren chose to show themselves and interfere.
“Greetings, council members. I am Videns. I ascended millions of years ago. I know of the no interference rule that we follow but the Others don’t have precognitive abilities that rival my own. I have come to ask a request. There is someone by the name of Ali. This person will do many things. Possibly good, possibly bad. That is something I cannot see in my visions. But he cannot be allowed to stay in this time for long. His destiny lies in the future. He must be brought back here to Atlantis to be taught and guided. You may choose who will guide him. After he is sufficiently taught, he must be convinced to stay and protect this city. Although it pains me to say it, you will lose the war. Not now, but there will come a time when the war will have gone on for too long. You will chose to abandon the city and you won’t be able to return. There will be another event that pertains to Ali and the future. You may chose what you believe is best for that situation but I assure you that Ali must be convinced to come and learn here on Atlantis. It won’t be too difficult to convince him to come if you can make a few concessions, such as allowing him to keep the current ship that he has taken and repaired for his own use. Now, I must leave before the Others decide to punish me for telling you this. Please take my request into consideration.”
After he finished his speech, Videns immediately left the council room. The council members all looked at each other before immediately beginning to discuss what they were going to do with this information.
Moros (Merlin) said, “What does the council think about the information our Ascended brother has just delivered us? Should we follow his advice or should we ignore it?”
Melia replied, “I believe that there could be merit in doing as Videns had said. This Ali seems to have something important to do in the future.”
Litat (There are only three named council members of the seven total), “I don’t think that we should. Videns is an ascended being who is interfering with the lower planes. This detail should be accounted for when we are making a decision.”
Janus pointed out, “Yes, this is information who came from an ascended being who has precognitive abilities-”
Litat, “So he says.”
Janus shot him a look before continuing, “He has precognitive abilities. That means that he can see what lies ahead. If he was willing to risk being punished by the other ascended beings, then this person might potentially be someone very important. He asked us to teach him and to guide him. Now, I am more than willing to take a chance to teach and guide him.”
Moros spoke up again, “Alright, I think we should put this to a vote. All in favor?”
Janus, Melia, Ustus, and Moros himself voted in favor. The other three council members Litat, Sarma, and Malun voted against.
“It seems that we need to get into contact with this Ali. Janus, I want you to find a way to contact him. From what Videns has said, it seems that he is using one of our warsh.i.p.s. Probably one that was left behind during an evacuation. Do so after this meeting. This meeting must still go on. We have other things to discuss.”
P.O.V. Ali
‘Hmm, why do I feel like something just happened that will prevent me from screwing up the future anymore than just being here? Oh well, it’s probably nothing. Gotta keep working on converting the hyperdrive to intergalactic.’ I thought to myself as I continued to work with my double.
