- 150 Chapter 150. A day before journey
All she needed now, was a maid, who would spread the latest ‘news’ to all the people and maybe eventually to the traitors also. Aeinshia was almlst sure, that the perpetrators were using these maids to extract as much information they need of the Palace.
She was looking for a bait, who would be willing to carry her words around the Palace. Unfortunately, when you are finding something, magically they won’t be there for you. While searching for some maid, Aeinshia began to think who are the most gossiping maids of the princesses quarters.
During her search for a gossipy maid, she came across some voices. Aeinshia frowned as the voices were hushed and she was highly suspicious now.
Aeinshia moved silently to the hushed voices and saw two maids huddled together talking about something.
‘Target spotted.’ Aeinshia’s eyes lit up, when she spotted them. And, now she has to find a way to tell them the rumour she wanted to spread.
Her eyes roamed around the area of the hallway and she straightened her back and adjusted her clothes. Then, she walked forward with elegance and pretended that she was entering the hallway, just now.
Both the talking and giggling maids, stopped when they saw her and bowed to her. Aeinshia nodded her head and stopped beside them, “Where is Princess Lucia?” She inquired and one of the maids replied while bowing to her.
“Her Highness Princess Lucia is in her room, your Highness.” She told and moved aside. Aeinshia strolled to the mentioned chamber and realized that those maids weren’t following her.
Aeinshia softly cursed under her breath and was thinking of ways of filling their ears. She didn’t watch her steps and bumped into something. Startled, she looked down and saw the person she wanted to meet before her.
Lucia smiled wide, when she saw Aeinshia. Aeinshia, too smiled greeting her. “Sister Aeinshia, were you finding me?” Lucia asked Aeinshia and she nodded softly, while kneeling before the small girl.
“Yes, Princess. I wanted to meet you before going on my journey.” Aeinshia told, while carassing black locks of the young princess. Lucia frowned at the news and Aeinshia understood her confusion. Now, this is the opportunity she was waiting for.
“I’m going to City Sylter to pay my mother a visit, as I go every year.” Aeinshia explained and Lucia’s eyes went big and mouth formed an ‘o’ shape in realization. She recovered and, “Happy journey, Sister Aeinshia.” Lucia said with a big smile and Aeinshia cooed at her cuteness.
Aeinshia could see the maids looking at each other, from her peripheral vision and she was sure, they were going to spread this latest news to all the others. Her work here was done.
Lucia smiled at the words of Aeinshia and nodded. She immediately hugged Aeinshia, which was returned. They stayed like that and soon, Lucia said, she has to leave to meet her mother. Aeinshia, too had to rest and they both parted, to go on their own ways.
While leaving for her chambers, Aeinshia noticed some maids together talking about something and that seemed to be start of spread of the words that she intentionally spoke to the little Princess Lucia.
Aeinshia was now in her room, glancing out of the same window, attached to the big wall facing the door of her chamber.
The sky was a loosing its bright yellow and blue glow. The bright colors were fading and settling into more serene and non intimidating and soft colors.
Aeinshia looked at the beautiful sky painted with oranges and red hues, thinking and going over her plans over and over again. No matter how much, she thinks, there is no backing out now.
But, there still soemthing that was bothering her from inside. One part of her was happy that she was able to form a plan to face her situation, but on the other hand, her fear was overtaking her senses.
The doubt that something won’t go right was gnawing at her consciousness and Aeinshia was feelimg helpless, while thinking in that direction. Now, she understood the stress and pressure of being worrier and being under constant stress of attack.
Aeinshia sighed heavily as the plan repeated once again in her head.
“I need some rest to calm my mind. I should be alert tomorrow on my journey and I can’t take chances of fall in asleep during that.” She spoke to herself and sighed again. Though, she wanted to rest, she didn’t make any effort to move away from the window.
Her thoughts slowly drifted off to her loved ones, who are currently on their respective missions and far away from her. If something unexpected happens to her on the journey, she wondered how would they know about her condition.
‘Last time I was found and saved by Evan or else I would have died there in my pathetic state.’ Aeinshia chuckled at the thought that popped up in her head. ‘Who am I kidding? It would be better if I died that day, instead of being saved. At least, my family wouldn’t have to go through all the struggles they went through after my incident.’
Another sigh escaped her lips, as she continued to think and curse at the events. Finally deciding that wasnt going to get her anywhere, she turned away from the window.
“I better sleep now.” Aeinshia marched to her bed and sat on the edge of the bed. She looked up and saw her reflection star in bad at her, from the mirror, placed right across from her bed.
Aeinshia grimaced atwhat she saw. She looked awful. Her face was sunken in with a look of all negative emotions in her eyes, her hair dishevealed. Over all, she looked like she was in grave depression.
“I’ve to get over it and fight it.” Aeinshia said to herself, while looking away from the mirror. She decided to shut down her thoughts and just sleep. It was too early to sleep, but she had nothing better to do.
She had to get up early in the morning, so she decided I would be good to just sleep off the negative and bad feeling and to feel energized for her journey.
As soon as, she lied down and looked at the ceiling, all the recent memories of her father, brother and Evan leaving for their missions.
“I have to stay strong for them. Princess Aeinshia isn’t weak and vulnerable. Aeinshia is a fighter and I would catch them for sure.” Her voice rang out in the silence of her room. Her silent threat hanging thickly in the room, making her senses slow down their work and slowly lulling her to sleep.
…
Peter was roaming around in the royal gardens of the Palace, basking in the fresh scent of the various flowers planted in the ground. The sky was now decorated in the glow of setting sun. It was such a breathtaking sight.
Its shame, that he couldn’t be able to see the sight often, because he is too busy fulfilling his duties and doesn’t have time to roam around like this. He was satisfied, that he was able to print this memory in his mind, before going bad to his hectic schedule again.
Peter sighed sadly, when he remember he had to go back to his duty. Its not that he doesn’t like his work, but sometimes it can get hectic and he found himself stressing over his work often more than not.
Well, its because he is constantly surrounded by threats and dangers and he can’t seem to get a break from his work. And, now that he gets a break, he decided he would enjoy to its fullest.
While strolling Peter’s mind drifted back to the incidents, that took place in a while. He clearly remembered how he raced around the Palace and every quarters in the Palace area, searching madly if everything was alright or not.
Now that he thinks back, he realizes how much that old man’s words had an impact on him. Based on the sight of a mere butterfly. he took off running around the Palace like a crazy person.
“These are all false alarms. I shouldn’t believe things like these. That old man must’ve said something and I’m sitting here believing all that and wasting my time.” Peter clicked his tongue as he thought back to his actions.
Soon, the sun set and the sky was getting painted in the dakr hues, with orange mixed red hues only on the horizon. Peter gazed at the horizon his eyes refecting the soft glow. He decided it was time for him to go and get his sleep, as he had to leave early the next morning.
So, he was off to his room, which was behind the Palace grounds. All the important guards resided there and Peter’s room was also placed there. He walked to his room leisurely, taking his time and excersing his legs.
“Did you hear? Princess Aeinshia would be leaving for her yearly journey.”
“Yes, its spreading throughout the Palace now. I heard that her brother Felix would be accompanying her this time.”
“Maybe, he is visiting because he hasn’t for the long time. He was away at City Valencia, right?”
“Maybe its the reason. Also, during these tough times, the enemies may attack the princess, if she is alone. So, its two birds one shot.”
Two maids were giggling while conversing with each other. Peter clearly heard every word, said by both of them. His confusion now reaching to new heights.
‘What is happening?’
