Reborn princess: I will change my ill-fate - 180 Chapter 180
Once they saw, the two high level people, one Royal princess and the other highly respected guard, who saved them, their family, straightened up and bowed towards them in respect and thankfulness.
The woman tried to bow to her best of abilities with two clingy children, but no one minded her not bowing properly. She had a valid excuse and they were not too low to punish a desperate mother who is trying to protect her children.
Aeinshia nodded at them and smiled softly, while looking at the family. Then, her gaze shifted to the old man, whose head was bowed down even more, only showing his bald head, his face not even visible.
He was old, nearing his death in maybe few years. And, also a traitor. He may have a valid reason for the traitorous move towards his own empire, but that does not excuse the fact that he fed a dangerous drug to the first Princess, the soon to be empress of the Seazle empire.
Aeinshia decided, she would give the punishment that the old man deserved. Because, she knew, if the decision of the punishment was to be left in the hands of her uncle or her father or brother or Evan, or even Peter, they wouldn’t hesitate to order to behead the old man.
But, Aeinshia doesn’t want that. She knew there was a reason to begin all of these. She realized the guilt and the hesistance in his actions when he executed the plan, of drugging her and her guards.
She knew, he never originally had any malicious intent towards the imperial family and he only did it for the sake of his family, to protect his daughter, and granddaughter from the hands of death. However, what she couldn’t let go is, his way of choosing the options.
No matter what, for a normal citizen, his family is more important than anything. Aeinshia had no doubt about that and she too didn’t expect the old man to abandon his family for protection her. However, if tried a least bit, then it would have atleast created less damage to them.
Atleast, even if he went along and did everything as the enemy asked, there is no guarantee for the safety of the lives of the hostages, so he should have atleast tried to warn any one of them.
If he did any such actions, then it would have been a great help to them. Not only they could have saved time and man power, but they could have saved this old man’s family more earlier, compared to before and should have avoid many mistakes and risks in their path.
Aeinshia began to weigh everything and she thought for a while. Before she wanted to speak her verdict, she decided to give him a chance.
No matter the reason and desperation behind his actions, the punishment would be given, but with less of a degree than that royal punishment. Because, she need to acknowledge the brave and courageous behavior showed by his son-in-law in saving her. She just can’t give a blind eye to the Hunter’s help. After all, She knows when to be grateful for the actions of others.
“Why are you bowing down your head now, old man?” Aeinshia asked, her voice, having a cold edge to it, making the poor old man flinch in his place. Aeinshia could clearly see his wrinkled hands shaking desperately, from being caught, afraid of what punishment he would be receiving.
“Answer the Royal.” Peter’s cold voice rang out from behind Aeinshia. Even, Aeinshia flinched at his cold and deep voice, no wonder the children snuggled closer to their mother and away from Aeinshia’s direction, after hearing the scary voice.
Aeinshia observed this and decided it would be better, if the children weren’t involved in this kind of conversation. They were already so vulnerable and scared out of their minds, that they couldn’t seem to think of anything besides their mother, Aeinshia didn’t want to put them in more traumatic experience of seeing their grandfather getting punished.
She glanced towards her side and looked at Milo, who was standing a few feet away at the entrance to the inner main hall. She signalled him with her eyes towards the mother and the children, Milo understood her intention and ordered two maids to bring the mother and children inside the warm house.
The maids moved towards the three people and the mother immediately flinched hard and hid her children towards her. The hunter, the woman’s husband, who knew they were the maids who served the Royals, put his arm around shoulder and pulled her towards his chest.
Aeinshia saw the reaction and cursed herself, for sending them without any information. Of course, they would think, the maids were going to harm them, as they just got out from being held captive. She slowly walked towards the hugging family, ignoring the want for the same warmth, that was bubbling up inside her.
“Mam, I apologize if the actions of my maids came of as offensive to you. But, I assure you, you and your children are safe and in the protection of the Royal guards And inside a Royal House, now. Please stay reassured. My maids would help you to settle down and take rest, after your traumatic experience. Please, there is no threat meant for you and your family in here.”
Aeinshia made sure she kept her tone soft and gentle, so as to not scare the family even more. She knew, how a traumatic experience can effect one’s senses. She had been there and she know it very well.
The woman stared at her and then, turned to face her husband, who gave her a reassuring smile, encouraging her to follow the orders of the princess.
Normally, the high class people would take offense, at such gesture. Their word being disrespected would not be beared, by them. But, Aeinshia didnt mind it. She understood their situation and understood the woman’s desperation in seeking security from her surroundings.
The woman once again looked at the maids, who offered her a warm smile and Aeinshia could see, it somehow comforted the woman and she took, slow and timid steps towards the door of the inner main hall, he hand still clutching her two children tightly towards her body.
Aeinshia unconsciously smiled, thinking about a mother’s love towards her children. She wondered, if all the mother’s were same, when it comes to their children.
When the people were completely our of their sight, Aeinshai turned towards the old man, who was still assuming the same posture. But, the shaking of his body became very visible. The old man’s eyes were fleeting with worry and fear and when he saw two guards approaching towards him from behind, his resolve to stay silent broke and he at once collapsed to the floor, begging.
“M-m-mercy, y-your hig-highness. Have m-mercy! I beg for your f-f-forgiveness. I did all of t-this to pr-prot-tect my daughter and granddaughter. I was g-given no choice. Be-believe me, your h-highness!” The man wailed out loud, his head bowed down to the floor, begging for forgiveness on his actions.
His voice was hoarse and came out in ugly sobs and desperate wails, seeing his punishment was near. Aeinshia looked behind the old man and looked at the guards, who were now standing directly, behind the old man.
The guards got the signal and lifted the old man, by clutching his shoulders. Being the ones with more power, the guards were easily able to haul up the small old man, who offered some resistance, assuming they were going to behead him for his traitorous move.
The old man, thrashed around in the buff guards tight grip, but couldn’t get them to release them, so he opted for the next option. He screamed for the princess to forgiveness and to have mercy on him.
Aeinshia watched all of his action, wordlessly and looked like she was keen to see what he would do next. Peter frowned and looked at the impassive expression on the princess’ face, he didn’t understand what was going on in her head. He assumed she was contemplating on the punishment for the old man.
While something else was running on Aeinshia’s mind. She was reminded was the time, when she was imprisoned like this. Her uncle was dead and the guards just came behind her and held her tight, dragging her away, with the accusations that she was the traitor, who killed her beloved uncle.
She, too, thrashed around to get out of the tight hold, but she was no match to the buff guards. So, she too, screamed like there was no tomorrow. She screamed for help and that she was innocent and she would never do such vile thing to her own uncle, who practically raised her, but no one listened to her and dragged her away to dark prison.
But, she didn’t give up. She protested till the end, but no one was there to listen to her and to prove her innocence. All the doors were locked and she was just left with no option, but to be stuck in the middle of her own woven web of lies and deceits.
Aeinshia’s eyes started to tear up, when she thought back to that time. She shook her head and casted her eyes down to avoid the sight of the tears pooling in her eyes, from the people around her.
The scene in front was very familiar and her mind, couldn’t help but, rewind that incident, that totally devasted her and made her give up on her own life, binding the hands of her loved ones, preventing them from helping her in any way.
But, now is not the time to think about all those memories. She steadied her emotions and leveled her expressions and looked up at the guards, who were still clutching thebold man in tight hold, waiting for the further order.
“Did you think no one would catch your traitorous move towards the princess of the Seazle?” Aeinshia spoke, coldness still gripping on her soft voice.
The old man suddenly stopped struggling in the guards hold, seemingly given up on fighting. It was pointless at this point, there were no amount of words, that would make him escape his punishment, so he decided to just embrace it.
“I would ac-accept whatever her highness decided for me.” He said, voice small and no stutters in his speech, showing his full surrender to the princess and totally at her mercy.
Aeinshia raised her eyebrow and spoke, “The punishment….you will definitely get one…”
