Reborn: The Lion To Hunt The Wolf - Chapter 228
—-At the Yue Military Base—
It was eight o’clock at night when Yue Wan returned from training with a bit more of a tired face compared to the first day. Today, apart from physical training, Instructor Zhao had taught her some self-defense.
He was a little surprised, no matter what kind of attack he did, Yue Wan didn’t seem to be able to control her subconscious movements. Based on her instinct, she controlled the time accurately every time, when she made the appropriate defensive move.
However, what she lacked was stamina, and Instructor Zhao was quick to point it out. Even so, Yue Wan had left a deep impression on the training ground.
Touching her weary neck, Yue Wan opened the door.
‘BAM’
“What the?” Yue Wan muttered as flower petals fell from the sky, showering her in their beauty.
She looked up and saw the bouquet of rose dangling in the air with the help of some balloons. She stared at the roses in front of her, her heartbeat started to speed up uncontrollably.
She tried very hard to steady herself.
Yue Wan reached out and caught the bouquet out of reflex. Covering her mouth, she snickered. “What is he doing?”
In the middle of those flowers, there was a cute postcard with a cat’s paw print that belongs to the Little soldier.
While reading it, Yue Wan’s lip curved up with a shy smile. Then she lifted the bouquet and found a thread attached to it. Following it, she entered the bedroom.
On her queen bed, two things were laid along with a white postcard.
Picking up the paper, she read: [A special dress for a special night. Get ready, your knight will escort you to me]
Placing the card down, she touched the blue tie-dye lace dress.
The dress featured a bralette-inspired bodice, composed of crochet lace with pretty pierced detailing and two sets of adjustable spaghetti straps that crisscross at back for an eye-catching look. The set-in waist sat atop of a gauzy woven swing skirt, finished with tiers of ruffled trim along a handkerchief hem.
Next to it was a jewel box with a silver rhinestone layered necklace, it had two rows of delicate silver chains and gorgeous star-shaped pendants covered in silver rhinestones.
Smiling uncontrollably, Yue Wan quickly took a shower and dressed herself up in it. As she checked herself in the mirror, her mouth slightly gaped open, her eyes widened in astonishment and after a minute, her face turned crimson. She looked extraordinarily beautiful with a captivating glow.
Right then, a cute voice disturbed her from the daze: “Meow~~~”
Yue Wan turned back in swift: “Little Bao!”
He was wearing matching a bow in his neck similar to her dress colour but with a purple stone on its center.
Before she could touch him, he nuzzled on her feet, made a motion to follow him. ‘Mommy follow me.’
Looking at his fondly, Yue Wan knelt down and ċȧrėssed his head: “Let the way, my little man.”
Nodding his head, Little Bao bounced towards the backside door of the villa while looking her back on his every jump.
—-Behind the villa—–
Just as the door was opened, Yue Wan was welcomed by an awe inspiring sight.
There were blue candles on the sides of the long and narrow pathway and the fragrant scent of rose lingered in the air. The candlelight was an arc of brilliant gold in the blackness and paper lanterns from the trees and plants. The drizzling snow flickered the yellow light in the dark polished glass complementing the night sky and created a warm glow as the daylight fades.
The ground was also covered with fresh grass and rose petals which were gorgeous and elegant. With the thin line of snow embracing those petals on the ground, it looked extremely beautiful and eye-catching.
It was quite quiet. Only the sound of her footsteps could be heard. Yue Wan was so nervous that she felt like she was about to explode, they finally stopped walking.
Dim light gave off a romantic feel in the air. Taking a deep, Yue Wan entered slowly stepped on the rose petals that were strewn all over the pathway. Amidst the rose petals were heart-shaped candles at the corner.
….
At the end of the pathway, she could see a little tent set up to protect them from snow and inside was the table beautifully covered with a nice tablecloth, scatter with rose petals and a crystal bowl half-filled with water in which beautiful floating candles are lighted place at the center. Grilled steak added sizzle to the night. Paired with red wine bottle along with the empty wine glasses and plates. Standing next to it was Xiao Hua with a profound smile on his lips.
…
Dressing in a well-tailored, handmade black suit, Xiao Hua’s ink-black short hair reflected light off the candlelight. His complexion was snow-white, with a face that was overwhelmingly exquisite. His picturesque eyes shone like glass, so dark that they seemed to be able to drown her in madness.
Being stared at so intently by Xiao Hua, Yue Wan felt as though an unusual gush of electricity had flowed through her body under his extremely dark pupils.
Xiao Hua had already sauntered over slowly towards her. The air started filling up with a professedly tranquil and beautiful ambiance. His cold and elegant aura turned hot, as though something was swirling within him.
Her beautiful and slightly blushing face was stunned for a moment as pure admiration flashed in her clear eyes.
This man was rather charismatic.
Fidgeting with the hem of her skirt, Yue Wan gaped at him in awe.
Looking at her adoring gaze, Xiao Hua laughed heartily and whispered in her ear, “Are you so infatuated by my looks that you forgot to close your mouth, my queen?” That low voice of his was like a cello; it was distant, extremely charming, and very soothing to the ears.
A blush crept over her face and neck. Yue Wan lifted her head with red cheeks and pouted in exasperation: “I am not!”
Xiao Hua merely smiled and did not say anything as he guided her to the table and pulled out the chair before her like a gentleman and invited her to take a seat.
–At the same time with Elder Xiao—
Soon after the first headline ‘The heir is back’ was published, a second one spread through the entirety of City A. The shock was as though a landmine had exploded. A picture decorated the cover pages of newspapers and the internet—it was the Xiao family old picture.
As the news circulated rapidly, Elder Xiao was casually sitting in the hall having hot tea, served by Yue Yeager.
“Master Xiao, what is the reason for this late-night visit?”
Yue Yeager was planning to go to the base straight from the office to check his daughter today. However, right when he was exiting the office, he received a call from Uncle Wang about Master Xiao’s unexpected visit to the Yue Villa.
Taking a sip of the tea to clear his throat, Elder Xiao replied: “I’m here for a personal reason Yeager,” his tone revealed sensitivity.
Yue Yeager’s brows stiffened a little as he was called so fondly. ‘Personal!’ Is it something do with the Xiao Heir?
But why here? Shouldn’t he go to the Su family?
The image where the Xiao family and the servants buŧŧering up his daughter Yue Wan flashed on his mind.
No No.. That’s unrealistic!
