Reborn: The Lion To Hunt The Wolf - Chapter 233
Li Biyu was too late to spot things getting out of hand!
“[email protected]! Stop with your bullsh!t excused! You completely blindsided me and now all the plans are ruined because of your stupidity… Do you honestly think you know better than me?”
“Give me one more chance, please I beg you…” Li Biyu pleaded.
The person on the other end of the call knitted his brows. “First tell me about the investigation regarding Lu Meili. Did she tell you who instigated her that day?”
Li Biyu tightened her grip on the mobile phone to the extent that her hand began to hurt. She uttered the words slowly: “She said she was told to do it by a man from the Yue family.”
‘Clash!’ The breaking sound of wine glasses echoed through the phone.
Li Biyu turned as pale as a sheet and shuttered continually to reveal the important part of her investigation: “But it was not Yue Xiang…”
The other side became silent.
Gulping down her fear, she said: “It was the First Elder of the Yue family.”
Master Jin, from the other side of the conversation, opened his eyes wide in shock: “The woman who is engaged with Li Rong is his granddaughter, right?”
Li Biyu was instantly reminded of the First Elder’s dėsɨrė towards the Yue family power: “He must be doing this to get the Yue family from Yue Yeager which will benefit us somehow.”
“You Fool!! They can’t get a single stone from the Yue’s while Yue Wan is alive,” The man yelled in a high pitched voice full of fury. He continued, “Find a way to stop this engagement or make Yue Wan be the one engaged to Li Rong.” With that, the phone was coldly cut off.
Li Biyu stood motionless when she heard the dial tone of the phone. She rubbed her hands against her face, overwhelmed with uneasiness and a mix of emotions.
—–The next day—–
The soft sunlight filtered in through the windows. Under the winter breeze, the cold air swept the flower petals on the floor into a circle. Yue Wan woke, her eyes showing her half sleepy state. Looking at the flowers in every corner of her room, she burst out in happiness. As of last night, she was officially Xiao Hua’s fiance. Thinking of all that happened, her cheek blushed and her eyes took in everything with haziness.
Suddenly, something snuggled closer to her body. Feeling the unfamiliar sensation, she pried open the blanket.
Her brain suddenly went blank, and her heart stopped beating. She found herself being sandwiched between a cat and a man. She remembered clearly that Yue Xiang had forbidden Xiao Hua from sleeping anywhere near her and forcefully kicked him out of the Yue Military base, yet it appeared that he managed to sneak back in. The same went for Little Bao, who was supposed to sleep in the same room as Yue Xiang.
Yue Wan didn’t know whether to cry for help or laugh at their childishness.
One was claiming his territory by hugging her waist with his large hand while the other was using his tail. Both were acting the same in every aspect.
Little Bao knew that he needed to disappear during the training time for the sake of his breakfast, but when he felt his mommy’s warmth he could only make a cute yawn and meowed, successfully getting her attention.
Yue Wan thought that the little guy was having bad dreams so she ċȧrėssed him gently. However, her action was interrupted by the big guy behind her.
The second Xiao Hua saw Little Bao was meowing, he moved his body slightly and pressed his muscular and firm ċhėst toward her body more closely.
Feeling his movement, Yue Wan was stunned. She turned around to glance at the man lying by her side. His perfect face was charmingly handsome as if he was God’s flawless creation. Though he had just been awoken, his purple eyes were as clear and bright as water. “You have the nerve to act this brazen.”
Smirking with pride, Xiao Hua inquired, “Why are you awake this early? Didn’t our dance, wear you out?” The man’s voice was clear and slightly husky.
Little Bao sent daggers to Xiao Hua’s face which he was deflecting with an incentive smile.
Yue Wan’s face became redder. With trembling fingers, she pinched both of their ears with a half-mad and half-annoyed grin. “It’s time for my training, so get up you two sneaky rats.”
Due to pain, they both made a yelp and gave her enough space to get out of the bed.
Once Yue Wan was gone, Little Bao turned back to Big Bao and pounced on Xiao Hua. Two started fighting and rolling on the bed.
Quickly, the pillows were ripped apart and soft pieces of cotton danced in the air.
After 5 minutes, “Ahem! Ahem!” Someone cleared his throat.
Big Bao and Xiao Hua stopped their fight and slowly turned their head towards the silhouette standing before the bed with a bunch of cotton on his Military dress and hair. There were visible black lines on his head.
Big Boa and Xiao Hua sweatdropped: ‘Oops! The devil has arisen.’
Yue Xiang reached the depth of hell in his rage. “You….”
Instantly, Little Bao changed back to a small chibi form and the same goes for chibi Xiao Hua. With their heads down, they had the exact same expression on their faces: ‘He started it! I’m innocent!’
The string of the Devil’s patience snapped and in the next second, one could see two images flying from the Yue military base.
One was kicked in the direction of Xiao Villa and the other one was kicked in the direction of the Yue Villa. They both were stamped down in red with the boot as ‘rejected’.
Su Dingfang, the Elder of the Su family and Su Yunying’s grandfather sat on the couch with the phone in his hand. “Brother Xiao, I knew your reason for doing this. I’m happy that your grandson is safe and sound. If you require my ȧssistance during the Xiao Crop inauguration, I will do everything I can. After all, we are best friends.” The implication was that the Su family had the ability to support this new Xiao Heir before the vast aristocrat families…
Elder Xiao’s voice came from the other end of the phone. “That’s not necessary, Brother Su.”
“Brother Xiao, shall I send YingYing to let HIM get accustomed with the City’s top families? Since they are childhood friends, he would feel supportive…..”
Elder Xiao cut him off: “Ran will take of it. Also, I need to prepare for Xiao Hua debut soon so we will talk later.”
Placing the receiver down, Su Dingfang looked at his granddaughter Su Yunying who had a vague inkling of what he felt in his heart.
Under the media and newspapers’ extreme exaggeration, the entire City had determined that the Su and Xiao families would be soon connected through marriage. Some were envious, some were jealous, while others were delighted.
Father Su was especially ecstatic, and his arms had gone weak from all of the congratulation handshakes from some aristocratic members, including the respected government figures. With the Xiao family as their backing, his youngest son would have an elder sister and brother-in-law ȧssisting him financially when he mȧturės, regardless of whether he pursued an official or business career.
As the influence of the rumored marriage was tremendous, and it was also guaranteed to happen, the stocks of the Su Family began to soar.
Yet there was no confirmation from the Elder Xiao side which made Su Dingfang anxious. Even during their conversation, Elder Xiao was neither warm nor cold towards him which made it difficult to know what the old man’s thought regarding the rumor.
